Turn the other cheek

Donald Lee Wilkey

A Steven Seagal fan
In times past on up to the present time I've learned and remained aware from Steven Seagal's aikido lessons, but haven't been able to write it down and share it with other members and fans until now
Steven Seagal has been blessed with an interpretive explanation to the age old phrase "turn the other cheek" by side-stepping and turning his head from harm's way of incoming kicks and punches
Check that move out from Steven Seagal !
WOW, I wonder if this is in direct alignment with Jesus' teachings ???

The art of evasion

Hi Don

In Karate terms it is called 'Taisabaki' (the spelling may be incorrect) which is all about evading your opponents attacks.

I study Wado Ryu - 'Way of Peace', which means that we avoid an attack and don't defend a strike with a strike. We parry or evade to avoid confrontation, and as with Aikido, the opponents strength and anger usually works against them.

You go full bore at a door that is locked and your strength will open it - you go full bore at a door that appears locked, but is not - and you'll go flying!

Seagal just makes it look SO damn good don't you think?

Best wishes

In all Japanese martial arts it's called Taisabaki.

In Path beyond thought you can hear his students also talk about it and the emphasis that Take Sensei puts on this technique.

Peace
