Two Degrees from Seagal in Alaska

One additional benefit to taking an Alaskan Cruise on Princess Cruise Lines, other than the obvious, which is to behold incredible scenery and diverse wildlife, is that you will have a chance to meet Libby Riddles, who worked closely with Seagal in "On Deadly Ground" as the sled dog coordinator.

In 1985, Libby Riddles made history. She became the first woman to win the grueling 1,049-mile Iditarod Sled Dog Race, after a daring move across Norton Sound in a deadly blizzard.

In addition to her victory, she was named the 1985 Sportswoman of the Year by the Women's Sports Foundation and honored by the Iditarod veterinarians with the 1985 Leonhard Seppala Humanitarian Award for her humane treatment of her dogs.

In the spring of 1993, she was hired as the Sled Dog Coordinator for the Steven Seagal movie, "On Deadly Ground" which was filmed in Alaska. She provided the sled dogs and assisted in creating the Alaska native mushing scenes.

She is now a guest speaker for Princess Cruise lines in Juneau. She does five lectures a week on the ship while it at the port of call in Juneau. A documentary film is shown at her lectures and on the Princess Cruise Line channel in the rooms, in which she talks about having Seagal as her "boss" for duration of the film. After the film, she has a question and answer forum with the audience in which she will answer any question about her work, her films, etc.

So, if going to Alaska wasn't a good enough reason for taking a Cruise, being able to meet Libby Riddles makes it all that more appealing if you are a Seagal fan. My family and I took the cruise in July, and it was amazing.
