Ah, but you see, Steven doesn't follow the rules - their rules.
Rule #1: Steven Seagal must be in the same shape now as he was in 1988.
Rule #2: Steven Seagal must make exactly the same kinds of movies now as he made in 1988.
Rule #3: Steven Seagal must not have a ponytail because that will cause people to make fun of him.
Rule #4: Steven Seagal must learn to act the same as all the other Hollywood actors.
Rule #5: Steven Seagal must support causes that are popular, not ones that make people think he's a nutbar.
Rule #6: Steven Seagal should never have made any movies at all, and then he wouldn't get razzed by adolescent schoolboys with too much time on their hands and unsupervised access to the internet.
You get the idea.
The problem, though, is that there are so few (as to be almost non-existent) good reports about his behaviour on and off the set, that it is difficult for some to get past that and judge the movies on their own merit. As with anyone, some of his movies are better than others, but to dismiss all of them as being necessarily bad because they had Steven in them is just plain silly.
The constant complaining about his weight - well, we've seen it here, too, so that's hardly a surprise.
And it's not as though Arnold hasn't made a few stinkers himself in his movie career - which, for a while, looked like it was going to completely tank. (No, I am not going to see T3. Only Linda Hamilton can play John's mother - no Linda Hamilton in T3, my money stays in my pocket.)
Those on the aicn message board are a bunch of brain-dead juveniles who have simply got onto the slam-Steven-Seagal bandwagon. Pay them no mind.
