It was a case of deja vu for US reality television superstar Melburnian Vadim Dale at a fashion launch yesterday
MELBOURNE'S Outback Jack Vadim Dale was over the moon walking the streets of his hometown yesterday.
It makes a change from being mobbed everywhere he goes in the US, where the 28-year-old is a reality TV superstar.
Dale made his first public showing at the launch of Davenport's new summer range.
He hammed it up with Jim Stynes, Trent Croad and models Adam Riordan and Mauro Scantamburlo -- but saved a nipple cripple for MC comedian Russell Gilbert.
It was a blast from the past for the former East Melbourne health and safety officer -- he was the face of Davenport's first campaign as a 17-year-old.
Since starring in the US series (to screen here on Channel 9), Dale has become hot property in the States.
He's been courted by super-producer David E. Kelley to star in his new TV series, Boston Legal, and action hero Steven Seagal to be in his next movie.
The craziest thing that's hap pened to him, he says, is when he walked into a New York electrical store to buy some hair clippers and the owner gave him two video cameras in exchange for his autograph for his wife and kids.
The down-to-earth hunk wants to challenge reports that his Outback Jack persona is a fake.
"That is absolute crap," he said.
"I spend most of my time outdoors and just because I don't live in Alice Springs doesn't mean I'm not an outback bloke."
