Vern,
Unfortunatly, Mr. Seagal has not had a blockbuster in some time.
Exit Wounds was only a couple years ago. Quit being so hard on the guy.
I do not know who picks the writers for his movies. Sometimes they seem to have been preoccupied.
It's not like there's some district manager higher up in the chain who makes the decisions for him. We all choose our path in life. Nobody HAS to make a movie about pen pals. You and I have never made movies about pen pals, so obviously it is possible to go through life without doing it.
That said, bad writing makes his movies fun. For example On Deadly Ground would not be nearly as great without the line "Time. I need time (sob)" or R. Lee Ermey's speech about dropping Seagal off in bikini underpants without his toothbrush, or of course the line "I want you to guard this entrance like it was your sister's cherry, Tonto." I love the bad writing he finds and I'm not sure he'd be able to cut it in a Coen brothers movie so I'm happy with him.
So again, cut the guy some slack.
I am also sure Mr. Seagal knows he is heavier than he was when he first started acting. We all worry about weight issues; wether it is our bodies or the people we care about. I took the initiative to lose sixty pounds to get to my normal weight. He needs to take the step, not some writer insulting him.
I never insulted him for being fat, in fact I defended him. If you read the review, I said that I like his "Fat Elvis period" and said that he was not much fatter than Lone Wolf and Cub, which I think is one of the greatest series in the history of badass Cinema. In another review I compared him to Dolemite who I also enjoy. If it is wrong to mention his weight then you should be apologizing for the above paragraph where you did the same thing.
That has nothing to do with his acting, stick with the topic.
Nobody told me that was the topic. I better rewrite the review then because I thought it was about the movie. I don't think I ever mentioned his acting, which I don't think would be very interesting. What am I supposed to say about it?
To the fans he will always be handsome and talented. Mr. Seagal comes across as a caring and comassionate person. You forgot he has feelings too. How did you like getting insulted back? Not so nice huh?!
I can take it, lady. It just makes you look bad, not me.
When you insult others, what goes around will come back around and bite yoou.
Sincerely, A Steven Seagal Fan, Julie
Well that's really not necessary, you didn't insult me THAT bad that you gotta get punished for it. I just thought you were being mean but no big deal, that's how you do things I guess. Thanks for the apology though, I think.
thanks julie
Sincerely a more serious Steven Seagal Fan,
Vern
