LOL, Julie...Hot airbag, too funny...More like a wet blanket, what a loser with too much nothing to do, not like he's got a busy life or anything like our dear Steven, eh?

Hey there, it was fine to insult me when I was just some name on the Ain't It Cool News, but now that you know I'm actually reading this you might want to try being, like, a nice person or something. At least, that's what my ma taught me.

Nah, she was probaly wrong though. You're probaly right. Sorry about that one. I'll go dig her up if you want to spit in her face, like you did to her poor son who dedicated his life to the understanding and praise of the films of badass Cinema and in exchange all he got was some lady who has a crush on Steven Seagal called him a loser and a wet blanket and said he wasn't busy.

No I'm just jerkin your chain but chill out lady, I didn't insult you and some would say there is plenty to work with. But I wouldn't because I'm accepting of others, like Steve Seagal would want us all to be.

I mean really Lotus, what would Steven do?

(after he threw somebody out a window)

thanks Lotus

"Wig: I did not literally mean he has a wig, just that it looks like one. I think actually he has implants or something. He has that freaky looking widow's peak now. I like it. Again, it fits the samurai theme."

I understood everything except this part !! what does at mean??:D

I'd have to agree with Reservoir about the dubbing, it's because his schedule is so brimful that he simply doesn't have the time to hang around for the post-production dubs. I think the fact that all these films are being made in distant countries also has something to do with it - he can't be sticking around in Poland forever when there's a shoot in Thailand with his name on it.

Dubbing with another actor has always been cheaper and easier but none of Seagal's film-makers have resorted to that in the past, I think the above is the much more likely reason for it of late.

Disposition Seagal
Different strokes for different folks...

Obviously many people whould rate different Seagal movies better than others. One person may think so and so movie that he was in was better than the other so and so movie. I on the other hand may not quite understand how someone may think that so and so could possibly be considered worse than so and so. Quite the contrary I may think the other persons most favorite movie in the past few years (or his whole career) is one of my lesser favorites where one of his/her lesser favorites are one of my higher favorites. I don't see this as a big surprise being as everybody comes from a different background and enjoys something else. The only thing we should expect from each other to have in common on that topic is proabably that we would rate all his movies (most?) as our favorites above all movies (most?) that he does not act in.

Concerning the dubbing well, it is much more noticable to me than the stunt doubles and probably more painful to endure. I understand that in business short cuts may have to be taken. It's a shame they couldn't afford to buy more of Sensei Seagal's time to fix this highly noticable change in voice. I didn't really notice this until TF, OFAK, & BOTB.

The voice dubbing is not fun for me, since his voice is so nice, imo...
Shame, really...I still don't get why they did it...
They should have called him back in, and said it ain't over yet, still work left to do...
But maybe he would have said to go to hell, too, that he was finished...
Well, anyhow it makes me wonder about it...
It was worse in OFAK and TF, I thought...
But still...
Why???
Heyyyyyyy, what happened to my other post?
Hmmmm...

Oh my gosh!It took me about an hour to handle this thread and...oh what a pity I've missed so much fun. So,am I too late, you'd say,eh?

Hey,Vern,I even like you.Honestly.No hypocricy.Ah well, should I welcome you first?Stay on your toes man,as Yudansha said there's gonna be a lot of surprises.

Umm yes, there are two kinds of truth.A relative one and an absolute one.
A relative one: Some people like Merlot and some people don't.
An absolute one: And nonetheless Merlot exists. And it's even made of the grapes.

Call me dumb, but what or who is Merlot? :D

Seagal's movies are plain action (that's why B type) with martial arts thrown in.

Really, Steven Seagal has not made a true martial arts film ... like the ones Bruce or Jackie made in his early career.

hey guys,

Im out of town for the week. Just got down reading the latest posts, and probably my last time near a computer for awhile. First thing i would like to say, dont be so hard on Vern. His review on OOR is his opinion, and although you may be disappointed with his approach, dont go personally insulting him now that he is a registered and active member on the board. He has said numerous times he is a seagal film (why else would he take the time to review all of his movies) and that his personal opinions is that this is his worst film. Dont be so harsh to him. The thing I liked about this board was everyone was respectful. There were no trolls, and everyone tried to get along. Now you guys are acting like trolls. Vern has come and registered on the board and at no time has he insulted anyone since he has began posting. Please remember what the site is all about. I always liked the site when everyone shared info and got along.

Secondly, during my trip, I rewatched BOTB for the third time. I was very surprised how decent it was. Much better than any of his previous direct to video films. If you didnt like it, rewatch it, you may enjoy it.

My new favorite Seagal line-
"Hey a**hole, you calling me junior-thug
You look like junior-seagal

I just love his voice when he says it. Its an entertaining, and although it has its flaws, its one of his better films. Just watch it, youll see. I was also surprised that Seagal is actually doing more fighting then i originally thought. The only real scene where he seems to be doing nothing is when the mercenarys with swords attack him and Sunti in the warehouse. Other than that, Seagal is kicking and punching with the best of them.

Anyway, sorry for the long post, just couldnt stay away for a whole week with posting a message. Take care everyone.

Vern,
I am glad you are here. Now you know people do care venimously about their favorite actors. WE know he knows how to act. WE know he has talent. Unfortunatly, Mr. Seagal has not had a blockbuster in some time. I do not know who picks the writers for his movies. Sometimes they seem to have been preoccupied. I am also sure Mr. Seagal knows he is heavier than he was when he first started acting. We all worry about weight issues; wether it is our bodies or the people we care about. I took the initiative to lose sixty pounds to get to my normal weight. He needs to take the step, not some writer insulting him. That has nothing to do with his acting, stick with the topic. To the fans he will always be handsome and talented. Mr. Seagal comes across as a caring and comassionate person. You forgot he has feelings too. How did you like getting insulted back? Not so nice huh?! When you insult others, what goes around will come back around and bite yoou.:)Sincerely, A Steven Seagal Fan, Julie

Great post Julie...He is handsome, talented and charming, and I find him dignified...Sure he can lose his cool, but then again, he's a red blooded man, his fire is something exciting, and I have no problem with him whatsoever...People just need to treat him as he deserves to be treated and I think they'll find he is a wonderful man, otherwise stay out of his face...

I borrowed a promotional screener that the studio sends out for video stores and critics. And you're right, I'd bet money that Seagal hasn't bothered to watch it.

Vern,
Unfortunatly, Mr. Seagal has not had a blockbuster in some time.

Exit Wounds was only a couple years ago. Quit being so hard on the guy.

I do not know who picks the writers for his movies. Sometimes they seem to have been preoccupied.

It's not like there's some district manager higher up in the chain who makes the decisions for him. We all choose our path in life. Nobody HAS to make a movie about pen pals. You and I have never made movies about pen pals, so obviously it is possible to go through life without doing it.

That said, bad writing makes his movies fun. For example On Deadly Ground would not be nearly as great without the line "Time. I need time (sob)" or R. Lee Ermey's speech about dropping Seagal off in bikini underpants without his toothbrush, or of course the line "I want you to guard this entrance like it was your sister's cherry, Tonto." I love the bad writing he finds and I'm not sure he'd be able to cut it in a Coen brothers movie so I'm happy with him.

So again, cut the guy some slack.

I am also sure Mr. Seagal knows he is heavier than he was when he first started acting. We all worry about weight issues; wether it is our bodies or the people we care about. I took the initiative to lose sixty pounds to get to my normal weight. He needs to take the step, not some writer insulting him.

I never insulted him for being fat, in fact I defended him. If you read the review, I said that I like his "Fat Elvis period" and said that he was not much fatter than Lone Wolf and Cub, which I think is one of the greatest series in the history of badass Cinema. In another review I compared him to Dolemite who I also enjoy. If it is wrong to mention his weight then you should be apologizing for the above paragraph where you did the same thing.

That has nothing to do with his acting, stick with the topic.

Nobody told me that was the topic. I better rewrite the review then because I thought it was about the movie. I don't think I ever mentioned his acting, which I don't think would be very interesting. What am I supposed to say about it?

To the fans he will always be handsome and talented. Mr. Seagal comes across as a caring and comassionate person. You forgot he has feelings too. How did you like getting insulted back? Not so nice huh?!

I can take it, lady. It just makes you look bad, not me.

When you insult others, what goes around will come back around and bite yoou.:)Sincerely, A Steven Seagal Fan, Julie

Well that's really not necessary, you didn't insult me THAT bad that you gotta get punished for it. I just thought you were being mean but no big deal, that's how you do things I guess. Thanks for the apology though, I think.

thanks julie

Sincerely a more serious Steven Seagal Fan,
Vern
