Vern,
I underestimated you. You are VERY good at twisting things to suit your purpose. I will not make that mistake again.
How many of Mr. Seagals movies are considered Blockbusters?
Every one of his movies have quick, cool punch lines. Some movies like the Foriegner I found hard to follow. A few lines do not make a whole movie. I have not seen the last two movies that were made. I like his movies, and some I like better than others.
As for the defense of his weight, well when you have been over weight before you get defensive; even if it is for someone else. I happen to think he looks fine at any size. You do not stop caring about a person just because they put weight on. Big deal if he is heavier, he still looks handsome. My husband did not stop loving me while I was over weight. He likes me better skinny because he knows it is healthier for me. I think everyone feels the same way about Mr. Seagal.
As for TOPIC, I thought you were talking about the movie. My mistake again. Now you are going to toss in my face who is a more loyal fan? Don't go there. EVERYONE here is a fan.(Same level) Take some air out of your chest please. By reading your review I didn't realize you were a fan. I didn't notice. SORRY!!:)

The only thing I dont like is that the last fightscene is once again a swordfight. I want to see more hand to hand combat with Seagal!

Julie, about the weight, you said it so well, thanks, I guess I have trouble explaining...
I love him at any size, and with all his different looks, too...
And what matters most in a relationship, cannot be someone's weight or appearance, because when you love a person the changes shouldn't matter, they do not, and should not, because real love is unconditional...
Nothing is gonna change my feelings for Steven...
I am concered for his health though, so I see what you mean about the weight...
I do like him on the cushiony side though, but wouldn't want it to become a risk...
Whatever his weight, my feelings are here to stay, because I fell for him because the man he is has touched my heart so much, back when I didn't know what kind of man he was, I wasn't as taken with him, and those were the days that you all say he looked so good...I can't really explain it, but if you listen to his music, I don't think there is much doubt about what a truly special guy he is on the inside where it counts...
The fans here are know what I mean....
It's charm and talent, and charisma and compassion, and spirituality, and dignity...
I do find him incredibly handsome though, he just makes my heart skip a beat, but there must be more there, and for me there is so much more...:)

Don't you give Mama San a bad review! :D
Are you not doing the same thing the "moron"
film critic was doing? kat

You really don't get it do you? I am in no way doing the same thing as Vern. I have not called anyone a "creep" or a "moron" just because I don't like what they said. Instead, I have asked that you put together a reasoned argument aginst the points made in Vern's review instead of resulting to calling him names. Can you do that?

Again it's your own egos that don't let you just enjoy the movie...

What has our enjoyment of films got to do with our egos? It is perfectly normal to like some films and not others.

Why must you have such a hard time with what HE is doing

If he makes a bad film, it is important we say so, because in the long run it is best for Seagal's career. If he carrys on making rubbish, people will stop going to see, renting and buying his films and if that happens, the studios won't let him make any more. If we speak up when he makes a bad film he can learn from it an maybe make a better film next time. Telling him that a bad film is a good film because just because you love and respect him, is doing him a disservice; it could harm his career in the long run.

I just can't understand that, it makes no sense...I am fed up with such an unappreciative attitude...Now, that's probably my ego talking as well, but I just can't understand the rush to put down something we haven't experience...

Please remember that Vern has actually seen this film, which neither of us has. How can you be so sure that his review is wrong? Oh, I forgot, because Steven is in it, it must be a work of genius. As for having an "unappreciative attitude" what about his attitude towards his fans? We have remained loyal through thick and thin, we've all gone out and paid good money for The Foreigner and OFAK (films that I'm not alone in thinking were cr*p) so isn't it about time Steven rewarded his fans by making a really good film? He owes us big time, because without his fans, he wouldn't have a film career.

I am trying so hard to stay positive and this idiotic review and some of the comments here, just piss me off to no end...Sigh...

I know the feeling. Seeing what was a very entertaining and perhaps a little tounge in cheek review receive so much abuse from people who hadn't even seen the film he was reviewing pisses me off too.

I'm not trying to have an argument or fall out with any people on this board, I certainly don't want to offend or upset anyone and I apologise if I have, but I stand behind the points I have made (especially if they are made of bullet proof glass).

Hi everybody, my name is Vern and I am the jerk/moron/fat mouth/idiot etc.

Hello Vern, welcome to the board. I for one thought your review was very funny and I enjoyed it greatly. I look forward to reading more of your reviews in the future! It's always good to have another fan who doesn't blindly love everything Steven does in the forum, as I fear we are a dying breed!

What really surprises me is how members have responded to each other over this. I find it rather sad, myself. I know some people find it stimulating and consider it conversation, but I think it's turned hurtful.

This has gone way beyond one person expressing his opinion over something no one else has seen. This has deteriorated to members personally attacking other members, saying words that are here for good, that cannot be taken back. Think I'm exaggerating? Go back and read these posts again.

With members from all around the world, with different thoughts and ideas, I certainly wouldn't expect people to agree all the time about everything. How dull would that be, anyway.

Laugh at me if you will for being saddened by this, but this is no longer a civil debate or simple difference of opinion. It's friends hurting friends.

Thanks for saying so Serena...I really prefer to stay out of such things, but good on you for speaking up...It's true, there is no reason for Vern to disrespect the Sensei, nor is there any reason for us to let it cause a scuffle between us...We should all try to get along, but I know patience wears thin, especially when it's a subject that is dear to our hearts (meaning Steven) The review was way out of line, but it isn't the first and sadly probably won't be the last...

I should practice what I preach, you should see how my mother and I argue...
But then maybe she needs some Xanex or I do, LOL...
I think I try very hard to get along with her...
But anyway, it's a shame to see it on here....
I hope it doesn't get as bad as the official site did....

I think everyone has said things at one time or another they shouldn't have. Only God knows where there heart was when they said it and if they are sorry they said it.

Everyone does that unfortunately, Julie, but it's best if we could think before we speak because what if you don't get the chance to say you're sorry...That is never fun for anyone...I also like to show my love as much as I can, as you never know what could happen...So if I say to Steven that I love him too often for some people's taste oh well, at least he will be sure how I feel...As he said, life is short...It's too precious to spend it fighting...It's hard to control your feelings sometimes, but like someone once said, don't go to bed angry...If I get upset I am over it within a few minutes, I never understood those that could hold a grudge...Don't wait until it's too late, so if someone gets upset let someone know that they have upset you, and also, I don't believe in revenge, I believe in forgiving and forgetting...:)

Apparently most people here don't visit aicn. Which is fine..the less people trafficing Knowle's Amazon sponsored site the better. But Vern is well known for writing in with his Steven Seagal reviews. His Belly of the Beast and Out for a Kill exceeed the Out of Reach review by leaps and bounds.

To the people who seem to be over reacting...do you have senses of humor. The review has tongue firmly planted in cheek. I, like everyone here I am sure, has seen every Seagal flick..but unlike some of the mental patients here, am willing to admit how bad his movies have been since Under Siege 2.
But that's the charm of the later flicks. You know the expression, so bad its good. Vern's reviews have always had a knack for pointing out the things I thought we all loved about Seagal's flicks. Example..that he is always an ex (fill in the acronym) agent.

You guys need to lighten up...visiting this board today and seeing the subject "Very negative review, etc etc". Somehow I knew it was ripped from the headlines of aint it cool..but realize what goes on over there, particularly in the talkbacks is all done in good fun. So have fun and stop pretending like Steven Seagal movies deserve Palm D'ore's.

But somebody said he had other people dubbing his lines in a lot of his recent movies - is that true? I've seen pretty much all of them but I didn't notice before. Could someone tell me which ones he is dubbed in so I can be on the lookout for it?

By the way...

Hey Vern,
Re-watch Out for a kill...the scene when he goes to find his buddy at the Monk monestary. Its towards the beginning. Much dubbing goes on in that scene mein friend. Logical explination was outdoor location, and he didn't come back for post production

Excuse me, but we are fans here, so if we think his movies deserve 10 stars each then we are entitled to think that...You cannot be the judge of what I am seeing...
You CAn't know what my likes and dislikes are, maybe I am too easily pleased in your mind, but please don't sit there and tell us that we can't realistically like the later films, because I do like them, sure, some more than others for whatever reasons, but for my own reasons...If you are a fan of Vern's, then fine...He has a way with words, I just didn't think the review and taking pot shots at his appearance the way he did, was very appropriate on a site that is supposed to honor Mr. Seagal, to make fun of his weight and things is pure disrespect and I will not be a party to it, I admire Steven Seagal too much to sit here and let that happen without saying something, we are fans, and all have different opinions and perceptions about Steven Seagal, I adore him, and that's my right, so please don't sit there and call me a mental patient for loving, supporting and admiring such a phenomenal and talented man...
