When Did You Become A Steven Seagal Fan?

ZenLateralus

Disposition Seagal
Probably around the time Under Siege (which was the first of his movies I seen) came out I started to really like Steven Seagal and got to watch all his movies previous to it and after and listen to his music CD. I was a huge fan of everything about Steven Seagal until The Foreigner (not that every movie after that wasn't good) came out and then I was a fan of Steven Seagal but not-so-much the movies he is casted in and now I'm just a basic fan of Steven Seagal movies but still a big fan of Steven Seagal as a person, I suppose.

I have two sons they have always watched his movies, I would sit down and watch some then get up and go do something else. They are gone out on there own now and I was flipping channels and saw OFJ and FDB and I do not know what happened but he pulled me in hook, line and sinker! Now I have seen must of his movies, Is it his look? The way he talks or the way he looks at you like he really is looking at you? The Supremes had a songs years ago
that said "I was safe, felt secure til love took a detour! And then it happened"

i became a huge fan of Seagal about 2 and a half years ago, and i just finished collecting all his movies that are already out. So far, that's 19. Into the Sun just came out, i don't have it yet, but i just ordered it at a store.

I use to like other martial arts actors when i was younger and knew very little about Seagal. I use to like Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris or Jean Claude Van Damme. When i saw an entire Steven Seagal movie for the first time in my life, which was about 2 and a half years ago, i noticed that he made the bad guys, even the bosses, look like pussies. He almost never got hit .That's what i like about him. He's a badass.

Other martial arts actors like Van Damme or Jackie Chan always had a hard time with the boss. They always struggled to beat the bad guys and bleeded a lot.I remember when i was like 10 years old, my brother (who's a year older than me) use to bother me and wanted to show me what Steven Seagal does and i was always afraid he would try to bend my arm and stuff like that. He always said Seagal kills the bad guys and rips their bodies from aaprt from their legs. He's not a real Steven Seagal fan

I don't remember, I started watching his older movies on TV and one day and it just clicked!
Not just looks either, he is charming and shows some humor! Then I read more about him and found a certain kind of respect for him and his beliefs! Some I don't agree with but am more impressed that he will let his be known without fear of what anyone thinks, he is his own man! Alot of people go with the flow and want admit to there true feeling or beliefs, he is not this way! He is Steven Seagal!

Suzi since the start of his history in movies or did you know before? :)

I used to like his movies because the action and fights and of course, he was so beautiful, he had some kind of magic in his movies, but, he really passed a message, and then i started to read about him, and a really liked what i heard, his peacefull way of life, the aikido, the only martial art that is no competition, based on harmony, and the budhism, the life philosofy, ...was so fantastic... i started to love him because his life, not because his act, of course i love all his movies too.

Above The Law
I posted earlier in this thread but I will tell you my story again in more detail. ;)

I remember on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights on TBS, and TNT they would always be showing Steven Seagal films. I remember I lyed on my mom's bed watching TV and I caught a Out For Justice a half way through, I watched it but I thought Seagal sucked. I mean he couldn't kick, and I was used to Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Mark Dasascos, and Don Wilson at that time as my favorite Martial Art action stars. So I kind of watched Out For Justice and dismissed it as nothing. But one night I remember I saw the beginning scene of Above The Law in the dojo and that impressed me alot. I started researching Aikido and realized it is not about kicks, but a very unique Martial Arts style. After that I believe Above The Law was my first purchased Steven Seagal film, and the rest is history. ;)
