Seagal may very well be getting older, but he has not lost his skills or knowledge of the martial arts. There is no reason why he cannot do his own fight scenes. No one is saying he has to do dangerous things like jump out of cars, or things that Jackie Chan does (although they are pretty close in age) but there is no reason for someone who has that kind of skill to need a double when executing a kote gaeshi, or kokyu nage throws. Seagal has a certain way of executing things, and to see someone attempting to do what he does, in my opinion, is short changing all of us. Almost everyeone who became a fan, did so through his movies, some where already his students, but we would not have this site if he were still an unknown martial arts instructor in California. Lets face it, his movies made him who he is and what he does in those movies made almost all of us fans.
I will be the first to admit, I am not completely dispapointed with his recent movies because I do understand the way things work in Hollywood, and the fact taht this is his only way of making movies right now. And I ahve defended him in recent posts, but I do not think doubles are needed. And before I get attacked by ANYONE, please understand, for me, he is different than an actor you see on screen. Studying his flavor of Aikido has been a dream come true for me. And seeing him do real Aikido, and not movie Aikido, has alsot been an eye opener. Anyone that has seen The Path Beyond Thought can definately tell he is a true master of the art. ok, I am, done!!! Let my beatings begin!!!!
