yea!
see the films may be lacking quality in sum ways but it all comes down to

how much does it mean to you to watch a man as deep as Steven on screen.
If your only watching for the fights action etc then your missing out on the real Steven!

lol dunno if im making sense

Seagal may very well be getting older, but he has not lost his skills or knowledge of the martial arts. There is no reason why he cannot do his own fight scenes. No one is saying he has to do dangerous things like jump out of cars, or things that Jackie Chan does (although they are pretty close in age) but there is no reason for someone who has that kind of skill to need a double when executing a kote gaeshi, or kokyu nage throws. Seagal has a certain way of executing things, and to see someone attempting to do what he does, in my opinion, is short changing all of us. Almost everyeone who became a fan, did so through his movies, some where already his students, but we would not have this site if he were still an unknown martial arts instructor in California. Lets face it, his movies made him who he is and what he does in those movies made almost all of us fans.

I will be the first to admit, I am not completely dispapointed with his recent movies because I do understand the way things work in Hollywood, and the fact taht this is his only way of making movies right now. And I ahve defended him in recent posts, but I do not think doubles are needed. And before I get attacked by ANYONE, please understand, for me, he is different than an actor you see on screen. Studying his flavor of Aikido has been a dream come true for me. And seeing him do real Aikido, and not movie Aikido, has alsot been an eye opener. Anyone that has seen The Path Beyond Thought can definately tell he is a true master of the art. ok, I am, done!!! Let my beatings begin!!!!

I agree a bit to all of you, but for me there is no excuse that he don't do his own fightscenes, he gehts a double even when he stand up of a bed or kick someone, that isn't normal!!! And i think that is not because he is in "bad shape", thats only because he don't have the time to do this movies, or he don't care about it... on the otherside in TOday you die he don't look like he's not having fun... so i really don't know whats going on with our Steven :)

I think you're right Hofmae. If you have a stuntdouble when you have to do a dangerous move, that's allright with me. But if you use a stuntdouble when you only have to walk, stand up or walk down a stair....... I think he's just not interested.
But I still love Steven!!!

Yeah I think the most important thing Seagal has to do is do his own fight scenes again, in full light no shadowy camera and just plain old Seagal choreography..I dont watch Seagal movies for high flying Van Damme like action, I watched it for the quick simple effective Aikido from his better days.

Well, I still like his movies!Maybe i still like his attitude or Charisma!
You know even Chuck Norris had a stunt double from his 50th birthday!
it's not that easy to do fight scenes fr the movies!
It does not give less talent to the guy!

No disrespect, but I was never impressed with Chuck's fight scenes, I was watching one of his old movies today on AMC TV and his kicks just look terrible. :D

Chuck's fight scenes are all big mad slo-mo kicks and close ups of his hairy chest.

True. I mean Chuck is a legend in the Martial Arts world, but his kicks just plain suck. :D :D
