Damn... I tried to find an embarassing picture of someone on crutches, but I couldn't. :D

Seriously, is it getting better now Serena?

I couldn't find a funny picture either!
Must be "politically incorrect" to laugh at someone on crutches, eh? ;)
I'd laugh at me on crutches. It's not a pretty picture. :D

It looks like I'll probably need arthroscopic surgery for a suspected ligament tear. But thanks to HMOs and insurance red tape, I have to wait five weeks for the MRI to verify. Hopefully, though, the swelling will be down enough for me to get back to work in a week or so. I've REALLY gotta get out of here! ;) :D

Thanks for asking! :)

About red uncomfortable eyes.

I see red eyes often. First thing is keep your hands away from your face as much as you can and wash your hands often. Usually warm weak salt water washes of the eyes followed by cold packs relieve most red eyes in three days.
It's important to look for crusts on your lids in themorning which is most likely a sign of a bacterial infection and you'll need an antibiotic eye ointment or drops.

Red eye can be simply 1. irritation from smoke, fumes, or dust. 2. allergy from pollen, animal dander. 3. viral infection: keep clean, watch 2 days if no better see a doc. 4. bacterial causes white of greenish thick tears with crusts in themorning and needs a doc. Big thing is wash your hands a lot. Whatever you use for cold packs should be very clean. I'm sitting out here on a rock to type this and will do my best to fire this off the eve. Anyway I would guess you are all over it. Good luck.

Further information on drinking lots of water

Richie,

When you have the time... can you please elaborate on this?
Is one supposed to do this every day (as for the rest of one's life), or for a certain amount of time?

Hi Jalu,

Yes, you have to try to do it every single day. It's ok to miss a day now and again, but you should try to do it more often than not. It's difficult when you first start, but after a couple of weeks, it becomes second nature. Try it for a few weeks, you will definitely notice the difference. Simple dehydration can lead to all sorts of illnesses. It is simple science: our bodies are mostly made from water, therefore we need lots of water to keep functioning properly. Most people don't drink enough, or drink the wrong things. Drinks like coffee, alcohol, colas and fizzy drinks can actually have a dehydrating effect, or contain chemicals or impurities that hinder the water getting into your system. If you drink lots of water it also helps you to cut down on these other drinks, so you win both ways.

I was a real sceptic when I was first told this, but once I'd managed to do it for a few weeks, I noticed a huge difference.

Ahh it is spring time and my allergies are terrible. Usually at night and the morning are the worst. I have stuffy and runny nose, my eyes scratch, feel drowsy, etc... I am allergic to pollen and I am also taking Claritin.

Any other suggestions on how I can improve my conditions?

Someone mentioned allergies in another thread I just read, so I thought I'd ask here....

For the last few days I've had really red, watery eyes. I don't know if it's allergy or what, it could be hay fever because it is Spring, but I'm not sure if that's what it is. I took a Claritin tablet (if anyone knows what that is), yesterday and today. It doesn't seem to be doing much, my eyes are still watery. It's really irritating, sometimes the eyes get really stingy etc. I can't get anything done like this. But I don't want to go see a doc just yet, it takes too much time and effort.

Anyone got any advice on what to take or what it could be? Or anyone else suffering from (possible) allergy?

Hello Disciple.

As you describe, sound yourself it like hay cold. I am also against nearly everything which flower allergic. With me then the eyes and the nose itch. I take "Cetirizin HEXAL". There I take a tablet on the day and the allergy am away. I white not whether the medicine with you gives it.
But the best is to be made really an allergy test.
