Hello Serena,
Yes that is Michigan in the Song!
I am not referring to my own dad who was also a French Veteran;the
Dad Michel Sardou refers to is in the Lyrics!
Some imaginary Dad!Who may have existed !Who has existed!
my Dad was in the French Colonial troops!
He fought in Madagascar and Morrocco and then in World War two
with the French Forces based in North Africa!
He fought his way up Italy with US Troops!
You looked like Pat Benatar...Whow,You must be A Very Pretty Woman!
here is another Michel Sardou Song or Part of it,;it is not in Favor of Colonial times(This song was misunderstood when it was released)!
It's A very sad song of a guy who remembers his Father telling him about the Colonies;a little bit like my Dad was!!
"moi Monsieur j'ai fait la Colo,Dakar,Conakry,Bamako!
Moi,Monsieur j'ai eu la belle vie au temps beni des colonies!
Les Guerriers m'appelaient Grand Chef au temps glorieux de L'AOF...
Autrefois a Colomb bechards j'avais quatre Filles dans mon Lit!
Entre le Gin et tle tennis, les receptions et le Pastis,on se serait cru au Paradis au temps beni des colonies!
Refrain:'On pense encore a toi O Bwana!
tout ce que t'a pas nous on en a !
'Ya pas de cafe pas de cotton pas d'essence, mais des idees nous on en a ,nous on pense!
On Pense encore a toi Oh,Bwana!
Translation:"I do have been to the Colonies Mister,Dakar,Conakry,Bamako!
I did have the Great Life Mister at the holy time of Colonies!
Warriors would call me Chief at the Glorious Time of AOF(French Western Africa)...
Sometime at Colomb-Bechards I had four Girls in My Bed!
Between Gin and Tennis,Parties and Pastis(It's a Famous French Drink especially in the South of France) we would have thought we were in heaven
at the Glorious Time of Colonies!
Chorus:'We still think of you Bwana!
All that you don't have we do!'
'We have noCoffe,no cotton,no gasoline, but we have ideas!
We do some thinking!
We still think of you!Oh Bwana!
(End of the song)
Michel Sardou is not in favor of the past Colonies, nor is he a racist!
he is just being ironical towards an old Man who tells his stories of the past
and at the same time he loves this Man,he feels some sympathy for him
because his dad was probably like that as well!
My Boss gave me two Weeks because after last Night he thought I needed a rest!
That's cool!!!
Peace!
Hey, did you guys miss me here? :D Or did you even notice I wasn't here this weekend? :D

Interesting bit of history on your father there! Sounds like maybe he was a career Serviceman, eh? I'm sure you're very proud of him. :)

Thanks for that extra info on Michel Sardou. He sounds like a guy who just tells it like it is--and doesn't really care who likes it or not. :D

Sounds like a nice boss you have there. Hope you're enjoying your time off! :) How are you feeling? Not too stiff and sore to have fun on your unexpected vacation, I hope! :D

Hello Serena,
Yes my Dad was in the service.
he was a great Man and I am very proud of him,the only thing
I did not like was that he left too early...That's life!
maybe that's why I like so much Michel Sardou, because he reminds
me a lot about my Dad!!!
There's a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie which depicts these so-Called
'Colonial' Times:"Legionnaire",people who like History should watch it!!!
It is so true to Life!the Corsican Pimps, the Piaf Songs(Edith Piaf sang in those days, well she is not my Favorite singer!!LOL!!).
I am OK,not too sore!Thank You for your concerns!
Peace!

Sorry about your dad, Lonewolf, but it sounds like you have some very fond memories of him. :)

I did see Legionnaire, but years after it came out. It's of the first movies I saw with him, I think. I do like VanDamme and his movies. I don't care what people think of his skills--or lack thereof, as some like to concentrate on. :D I like the genre of movie he does and find him entertaining.

So I guess we won't be expecting any lyrics from Edit Piaf, eh? :D

Oh,by the way:does someone know if "Hatcher" a.K.A "Hatch" from the
old Official Website is still there?
And under what name?
I thought this Woman was very nice!
And What about El Toro ?
Peace!
Francois
I am OK now!

I noticed Hatcher posting at official site but not sure if it's same person.
El Toro used to go to Mr O's own site a couple of years back but not heard from him since.
Many of the originals disappeared in the net solar winds...

Zombie Moon--speaking of the devil, as we were. :D DLR.

*** I got a virus getting the lyrics from this site, so avoid it everyone!
"oldielyrics.com"
But at least I got the lyrics. :D

Knucklebones
David Lee Roth

When the fire burns
'Neath a zombie moon
Ya feel the winds of chang
Oh the drums will tell the tune
And you know it's true

Can ya feel the geat
Of the setting sun
Burning up the streets
This beat has got mixed blood
And I know it too

But now her mama's got hte eyes
Like she's workin' on a heart attack
A fella never can tell
And I'm about to go bananas
With the "when ya comin' bcack?"

So we're hittin' the road
And we're pumpin' thunder
Mama look out for down below
Get the show on the road
I's the feeling we're under
You can feel it right down
to
Yout
Knucklebones

One of these dark nights
Asthe saying goes
There's some dirty work
To be done down by the crossroads
Ans I know it's true

Ain't no use waitin'
For your invitation
King Kong never had it so clean
We'll do the Fat Cat Shake
We'll have our cake and eat it too
You coukd never, no, no, no, never, beat this squeeze!

Because we're hittin0 the road
And we're punpi' thunder
Mama look out for down below
Get the show on the road
It's rally no wonder
You can feel it right down
To
Your
Knucklebones

Must be the heat
Stop dreamin' and start drivin', Stevie
(Repeat chorus).

Hello Serena,
do you belong to the PMRC ?LOL!!!
You seem to see the Devil in any song,or Maybe you're a jehovah witness!!!
I am not a Devil Worshipper nor a Satanist not even an occult person!!!!
I know these things exist but I don't see them everytime I listen to a song or watch a movie!!!
I know perfectly well what croosroads means in the Blues Music!
Blues and Rock 'n' Roll have been called 'The Devil's Music' OK!!
But if you see them everywhere you're Good to go and see a spin Doctor!
I don't want to offend you Serena and I most Definitely hope we can still be Friends!
As one French Philosopher would say:"I have my opinions, you have yours, they are different,I don't agree with you and I would get killed for
you to be able to express them !"
Peace!

I think, Lonewolf, that what we have here is a failure to communicate. :)

First, I'd like to point out that, in my opinion, friends should not automatically assume the worst was meant by something that was said. And I thought we were becoming friends. But you did express some very strong opinions without even asking me what my intentions were or my meaning.

And I can't imagine what gave you the idea that I "see a devil in every song" or that I "see them everytime I listen to a song or watch a movie". I've gone over every single one of my posts in this thread and don't believe I've given any indication at all that "I see them everywhere I go", so I therefore do not feel the need to see a "spin doctor". And I can assure you I am not a member of PMRC, nor a Jehovah's Witness.

"Speaking of the devil", is simply an American slang. It means "something we were just talking about". It has absolutely nothing to do with the devil whatsoever. And since we had just been speaking of David Lee Roth in a few previous posts, and since he happened to be the artist of the last song you just quoted, I said it automatically. It's just a saying so commonplace here in America that I never thought anything of it.

I hope this clears up that misunderstanding.

OK,OK,OK Serena,I apologize!
You know Life is so strange nowadays!
It's indeed an awful Misunderstanding!
please accept my apologies!
You know my Life has been so strange these days!
At least I have learned a new expression!LOL!
In French we say:"Quand on parle du loup on voit la queue!"
Which translates as :"Talking of the Wolf we can see his tail pointing out"!!!
It means the same as the new expression I have learned!
Peace!

"I found the simple life ain't so simple
When I jumped out, on that road."

Yes, Running With the Devil, by VanHalen. :D
And Macho Man by the Village People. Who hasn't heard of their reputation. :D

And I can't say I've heard of "Constipation Blues", but Google shows it connected with Screamin' Jay Hawkins. Not sure if that's right or not--but how many "Constipation Blues" can there be? :D

Not familiar with Calvin Russell's music, though I've heard the name. On a quick check, I see he had a CD scheduled to be released in March of this year, "In Spite of It All". Here's the link to a website for him in case you're interested. :)
