I have been very busy and have two jobs, had planned on finishing my Black belt ( I had 2 left) my mother had cancer and I had to quit classes to care for her. I thought Ill get back when she gets better.
she did not get better this is the first anniversary of her death. My Grandmaster said if anything happened to her I could talk to him and he would do whatever he could to console me..that was so nice he said the dojang was always my home and he and his my family..I was only 39 then and had few left.
I had lost touch unfortunately taking care of her for three years I wanted to talk to my master tell him now she was gone Id like to return..his son answered..I was in shock my master always answers his own phone if he did not he was gone...as in deceased.
I talked to someone there they said yes he went last July right before my mother on 9/11/03 he had liver cancer.and taught up to the end in his 50th year. of training..I could not pay respects it was too late but I can honor the spiritual wish that to talk about someone is to bring them back in spirit .
his name was Grandmaster Kwan Sung Lee 9th Dan TKD extremely dedicated and rarest of the rare having that balance of compassion yet a tiger when you didnt listen..and very strong for someone only about 140 , I was tripped once by another black belt accidental)and headed for the floor (I am quite large at about 190) all the sudden a fist grabs my dobok (uniform) and singlehandly my master was holding me off the floor and let me down easy although in his late 60s he came across the room from over 20 ft away when I last looked .. just like that in moments to stop my fall he was very very observant.
His sons will take over..the school will remain as his spirit shines for all to see
I will teach the next generation and the next..its the least I could do for a man who wholeheartedly and without a second thought gave most of his life to making our world a better place for us and the children and those to come
his work was not in vain but a path of understanding..I am glad I had my 4 years with hjim and wished for more but not to be..so I say thank you (Komapsupnida) and watch over us as we keep your spirit alive..some people are just too special to forget..he has a site hs sons did that if you want to see him @ leestaekwondo.com he is on home page.
point is he was an assistant and advisor to many thing including Olympics (IOC)
hopefully we shall meet again
