New information about Into the Sun

I find it little bit interesting and some kind of last minute notice but we still have 2 months to go though. I recently spoke to a man about this film- Into the Sun. He said that it will be out in theaters for sure and I asked him when will it be out to theaters. He said December so we'll never know for sure unless I hear from some real sources and also this film is already approved for a rating which they reported that it's rated R for strong violence, language, some sexuality and nudity. Obviously, the film is complete and ready to go. December is a risky month for it to be released because of Ocean's 12 (12/10), The Aviator (12/17), and Meet the Fockers (12/22). I wished Screen Gems would have release it sooner as of end of this month but I guess it might be pushed back to January or else. If Screen Gems decide to stay on the schedule then we have to kick their heads because we know that it will be a huge mistake for them to release it during the Holidays. And the funny thing is... as some people mentioned that Joe Marsh said that the trailer should be out as around in December but I think it would be out in November though even if they're aiming for a December release. We still have a month to go to watch out for the trailer. I think they won't show the trailer with any notice. I think they want to surprise us but we'll never know.

Great NEWS!

Thanks for the information! Into The Sun released into theaters! Yes!! This calls for a celebration!

The only thing I am worried about is the release date, in my opinion it should be released in the next couple of weeks because there is no "HIT SMASH" at the box office right now.

Hi, Sydney. :) Welcome to the forum.
We hear many different rumors from many sources.
Guess we'll believe it when we see it, eh? :D

And I believe the man you're referring to is named "Jon" Marsh, if I'm not mistaken, who said March 18th was the release. Here's a link to one of the latest threads.

Enjoy youself here, Sydney. :)

Yeah...

yeah, I wish this can happen but actually if it's being released within next 2 weeks but it's still no good because of The Incredibles opens Nov. 5th and I'm not sure what's next on 12th but on 24th, a big movie opens on this day from Warner Bros- Alexander which is being directed by Oliver Stone. And also another thing...March 18th, 2005 will not going to be a good day for Into the Sun either because of The Ring 2, Miss Congenality 2 which will open around that week and also there is one more movie opening on this day too, it's a film with Russell Crowe. I wished Into the Sun is still under Warner Bros's money because I know that they will pick a right date for it to be released. Damn Franchise Pictures! I felt Franchise Pictures shouldn't own Into the Sun because the original version of The Yakuza which was directed by Sydney Pollack was distributed by Warner Bros back in 1971. I thought this is not right to see Screen Gems take over the film. I thought Warner Bros should have kept this film and if they did then I know they will promote the film right. I noticed some people said that Seagal is having a new contract with Warner Bros for few more films and I thought Glory was being picked up from Warner Bros. but if it actually happen, god, I hope Warner Bros. get rid of Michael Oblowitz and replace with a better director. I think Michael Oblowitz should stay away from directing films because his work, his vision, and his techinques were so bad and I'd consider him as the worst director ever seen in filmmaking. I think Wych Kaosayananda should give another try since he failed to show his talent in Ballisitic: Ecks vs Sever but I think he might be a right choice to direct Glory. I think so because Kaos used to live in Thailand and since Seagal had been in Thailand often so I thought maybe they could work well together on Glory but I wish this can happen. I respected Kaos's work in Ballisitic because this is a film what I have missed in a long time before The Matrix was released. After The Matrix was released, all of sudden all action films has no originality and just copy it and do it in MTV style which gets really annoying. I think it's annoying because it doesnt' show talent and it shows that they're doing it for money by doing cheap work. I'm hoping that I can change the way it is as it was before when I become a filmmaker in the future and show this philosohphy that they can't depend on money so much to create films, the quality is more important than money. High in demand for money is not good, it usually blows.

Serena, thanks very much. You might be lucky to have me joining in this forum because I'm very good with movies and know what kind of movies are good or bad or some stuff like that even though I know the director's style very well.

Well, I am gad you're here as a new member! :) But, I gotta warn you :D--I don't like movies because someone else thinks they're good or bad. :D I often don't know why myself I like one or dislike it. But, the cool thing is--I don't try to figure out why! :D Or even try to explain it. But there are some members here who do like to debate a movie and all its finer points, so you'll have lots of good company and good discussions. :) I just don't like to think that hard when I watch a movie--know what mean? ;) :D I watch it to escape and enjoy! :)

You seem pretty cool, Sydney. Hope to see more posts from you! :)

I know what you're feeling about don't like to hear people say good or bad things about movies. I feel exactly same way as you do. That's why I stay open with any kind of movies. I love any kind of movies except musicals, even though I liked some movies that lot of people hated as for example of Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever and I hated some movies that lot of people liked for example- Titanic. Yeah I will be the one who will have a good discussion on movies. I personally love Seagal movies, I loved him since I was 6 years old and right now I'm 20 and still like his films except his last few after he did Exit Wounds were not that good. I thought Exit Wounds was the last best Seagal film since Under Siege 2. But remember this... we are keeping our hands crossed for Into the Sun to see if it can meet up the standards of Exit Wounds or maybe little more than that. We have to wait until we see the trailer then we'll find out but I'll bet it's going to be a GOOD ONE!!!

Hi, Jace. :) I believe this is the latest information we've seen, but it's subject to change, as our sources are always indirect.

Credited cast:

Takao Osawa
Steven Seagal .... Travis Hunter
Ken Lo (as Kenneth Low)

Rest of cast listed alphabetically:

William Atherton .... Agent Block
Matthew Davis .... Agent Mac
Eddie George .... Jones
Chiaki Kuriyama .... Governors Daughter
Juliette Marquis .... Jewel

By the way, Jace--I combined your two posts together, the second one where you corrected your previous post. In the future, if you'd like to change something you've said or make a correction, just click the "Edit" box underneath your post, make the correction, then click "Save". Any problems, just give a scream! :D One of us will hear you. ;) :D

Umm... I don't know. I would think one of asian actors but don't know which one yet because there is only two male asian actors credited. I'm sure one of them is Seagal's sidekick because I saw Sydney Pollack's 1971 The Yakuza. Robert Mitchum had an asian male as his sidekick. As for Into the Sun, I would think that Seagal is some kind of like Robert Mitchum as what he did in The Yakuza but this time it will be little different because as you know Seagal is a martial artist but we'll see. That's what my instinct feeling is telling me. And also I know that Under Siege 3 will get made sometime soon, maybe not til next 2 to 3 years.
And according to the director- Mink... I am little worried about his directing because I saw his first effort titled Full Clip. I was unhappy with the work that he did but there's one scene that I liked from him was when Busta Rhymes and other guys were at the table, discussing about their plans to take down a guy, I don't remember what it was but as in this scene, I really liked it when the camera kept rolling as it goes around them while they were sitting down next to the table.
God, I hope that he doesn't use too much freeze frame or slow motion for Into the Sun. But I think it should be ok at least Seagal is in it, maybe we can expect something more than we think. I think we should see some old Seagal in this film as I expect it should have some bone crushing action including some bone breaking fight scenes. I think it will happen because Seagal haven't written anything since his first feature film- Above the Law. I'm glad that he's credited as a screenwriter for this film. I'm curious what it would be like if he's given another chance to be the director since he failed with On Deadly Ground. I thought he did a fairly good job with On Deadly Ground because it had a lot of good action in it at second half of the film especially I loved the explosions and horse chase throughout the woods. So keep our expectations up for Into the Sun. I'm more eager to see it and also Seagal seemed to lost more weight for this one than what he did for Exit Wounds. But it's all good.
I began smiling at Seagal when I saw him lost weight in Out of Reach and it was really cool to see him as old seagal, haha. But that's what I expect to see from him for Into the Sun. I missed Seagal wearing black leather jacket but I know we'll see him wearing that again for this one too.

Sydney, not that I'm questioning your bona fides or anything, but "Into the Sun" is NOT a remake of Mitchum's Yakuza - far from it. It's what we were hoping for, in the beginning, but it isn't. It's an original work by Seagal and some other guy, nothing whatever to do with Mitchum's Yakuza - a great pity, in my opinion.
