Seagal Ranch For Sale....

Maybe the essential oils buisness was never that profitable for Seagal, after all we never saw it advertised particularly strongly. Also Seagal has moved onto other things. For example his energy drink, which now has 3 flavours, Asian Experience, Cherry Charge and Root Beer Rush.
I tried to find the link from the orig. story I saw, but am forced to rewrite it - from the Wall Street Journal (I have edited out extra words):
"Actor SS has listed a 995 acre No. CA ranch, which includes organic farmland for his topical oils business, for $3 million. Seagal bought Diamond Lotus Ranch in '99 for about $1,000,000. The Property, in Siskiyou County, is just a couple of miles from a large ranch where Seagal has a home.
At Diamond Lotus, Seagal's business grows & processes herbs like lavender, thyme & helichrysum. Then Diamond Lotus Essentials sells the health & beauty oils online & in health stores & spas. Manager Don Cameron says the ranch has a drip irrigation system for the 180 acres of herbs, a distillation production site for the oils, 450 acres of oats & wheat, & 3 houses that have been occupied by Cameron & workers. Seagal declined comment while in Romania filming a movie. Billy Long, etc... has the listing".

Lavendar and other essential oils are made here in NZ and are big business.
I like to put a sachet of dried lavender heads under the shower rose. The scent is so delicate and soothing. Yes Heather, if I had the money I would go halves and change the produce somewhat. No, not that produce!!!!

Have you ever had an bath in some of those oils Pandora?..now Rose -hip oil is really nice makes the skin feel great not to mention the perfume lasting an long time....

The main problem with his Essential Oils buisness was not the lack of demand but the lack of publicity. With his energy drink Steven Seagal's Lightening Bolt, it has been well publicised. It has its own page on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Seagal's_Lightning_Bolt), and is being distributed through such high profile outlets as amazon.com and 7-Eleven. The Essential Oils were only ever sold of his website which, in it's previous form was notoriously badly put together.

Well with his movies, charity work, music and energy drink he must be a very busy man. As a good buisness man he must realise that spending a lot of time on the Essential Oils, when it does not yield good profilts is bad buisness. He also possibly does need the money for a new venture and as we know very little about his finances (eg. wages, fees, rent etc) and so it is hard for us to judge.

I didn't realize Seagal got so much for his films. When dealing with non A-list stars I always remember Bruce Campbell's autobiography where he talked about getting the lead in really his only lead Hollywood studio role, that of Evil Dead 3, and he worked out that most people probably make as much as him. He got paid something like $500,000 for the role, and lost $350,000 to taxes and it left him with around $150,000 for what was really a whole year of work.
Now I love Seagal films, but they are mainly DTV and they don't really pay that great do they? So how does he afford such big ranches? Or am I totally wrong in my understanding of his low pay days?
