Attention Tina: Explanation
Hi Tina:
I see you are new to forums and their chat capabilities. To explain the threads concept is very simple.
Someone, anyone, even yourself, chooses one of the forums to post a message, information or just share a tidbit or photo. You can find the forum choices by clicking on the word 'forum' at the top of most pages. If you post, be polite and post in the correct forum. They each have an explanation beneath them for the purpose they serve.
Once a brand spanking new message is posted it becomes a "New Thread". In other words it is like a new chapter in a book under a particular subject heading- This thread is in the "Off Topic" forum and part of the "Introduce Yourself" sub-forum. What makes them threads is that as each individual person responds to a posting their answer becomes 'threaded' to that posting. It sort of keeps the conversations together instead of scattering them all over the website in a helter skelter manner. Each thread should be kept 'on subject' . In other words, changing the subject of a thread is not acceptable. If you need to do that, start a new thread.
I hope that explains it for you in a simple manner.
There is an FAQ, if you look at the green bar at the top of the subject thread, that explains many frequently asked questions. Otherwise, go to either "Off Topic" or "Site Discussion" and post your question. Many here are always willing to answer and help.
Another thing, prowl through the site and look at all the offerings here. You will be pleased and surprised at all the contributions from fans and administrators.
I hope you enjoy your stay with us.
