More animals in the news. :)

1) In this photo from 24/7 Media, a month old kitten basks in its mother's care on Peter Hellwig's farm in Collierville, Tenn., on May 13, 2003. The photo by A.J. Wolfe is from a new book, 'Cats 24/7,' by Rick Smolan and David Elliot Cohen. The cat photos in the book are selected from thousands submitted last fall from animal lovers and American photojournalists. The book and a companion dog book, reflecting the diversity of cat and dog life across America, contain more than 500 photos each.

2 & 3) A dog suckles two three-week old Amur tiger cubs in the municipal zoo 'Royev Ruchey' in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, July 1, 2005. The dog that has a puppy of its own was found through a local newspaper after the mother of the tigers refused to feed its babies.

4) An Indian white tiger sits inside her enclosure while her cubs play at the Delhi zoo. India, under fire from environmentalists for failing to protect its tiger population, will replace dozens of its old and crammed zoos with sprawling near-natural habitats, officials said on July 2, 2005. In many of India's 164 zoos, wild animals live in small, dank and often stinking cages and enclosures.

5) Chewie, a gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo, cools off with a hose given to her by her keepers at the zoo in Cincinnati, Thursday, June 30, 2005.

1) Ted Fox feeds the 18 new Humboldt penguins during the debut of the $3.7 million 'Penguin Coast'' exhibit at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, N.Y., Wednesday, June 29, 2005. The zoo's newest animals made their much-awaited debut with a dance, parade and a literal splash before more than 300 onlookers and dignitaries.

2) A giant panda lies on ice blocks to cool itself off at a zoo in Fuzhou, capital of southeast China's Fujian Province, Monday, July 4, 2005. The measures have been taken here to help the animals combat the heat wave plaguing the city.

3 & 4) Romanian Gabriela Savu holds a three-week-old lion cub in Bucharest July 4, 2005. The lion cub was born in captivity in Romania, in a zoo which cannot afford to keep it, and will be sent to a wild life park in South Africa.

5) Humboldt penguin chicks. Abandoned by her mate, a penguin named Zurita at Brookfield zoo outside Chicago is the first Humboldt penguin to raise a chick without the help of her mate. In the wild the eggs won't incubate if they are left in the frigid air while the mother goes off to hunt for food. July 2, 2005.

Samone

Over a month ago I took some advice from Jalu and went and bought some expensive dog food for Samone so she would start eating again. Indeed she did start eating again putting on some of that ten pounds she lost.

.....Samone started bleeding from her back end. My husband took her to the vet today. Samone has tumors. It is spreading....kidneys...etc.....

To make a long story short. Samone is not going to make it. She had stopped eating again unless I feed her meat....liver....hamburger...

She is having a hard time getting the truck rides she loves so much. Well...she gets them....as long as you don't mind lifting 75lbs into a truck. (grunt..oooofff!!!)

Sick pets

We are not having a jolly time with pets health lately. Mittens went off to die alone. :( The vet said there was nothing he could do for Samone....

......this week we have been busy trying to save Emilys life too. She was suppose to go to the county fair soon. Well, that is not happening now. :( She has a beautiful gray coat that feels like a chinchillas. The heat got to her. She wasn't cleaning her rear well. My "Little Wombat" had been giving her a bath every several days. Last Saturday she went to give Emily a bath and her hair on her Haunches (rump) fell off...skin and all. The flies had got to her. She had maggots eating her skin. The vet had us clean ALL maggots AND eggs off her. What a nasty job...but Emily is worth it. Baths three times a day...peroxide once a day. Glad to say Emily is doing better.:) My husband is complaining he feels like he lives in a zoo. We have a cat, two degus, fish and now a rabbit in the house. (we have to keep ALL flies away from her.) Samone was even allowed in the kitchen for a while. Boy was she thrilled. Big brown eyes staring at you looking to see if we were going to spoil her some more.

i'm so sorry for you Jules. That's a bad new :(. I know how much you love your doggy. All good things have an end and it's always so difficult to accept it and face it. It's always the best and the most beloved who leave the 1st.
I send my support to you and your dear samone.
I hope she won't suffer too much.
And be sure that we all think of you 2.

Every animal is worth on thhis planet. And if we take the responsaibility of taking one, it's to the end. We must do everything to give them a wonderful life.

Look into those big brown eyes....

Thanks for the kind words. Samone is feeling better, partly because she is on pain medication. Emilys wounds are healing. We are keeping a close eye to prevent infection
........Look into those big brown eyes and tell Samone she isn't adorable....I can't. Those big brown eyes turn me into a sap. She is the best begger with those eyes....and she is the best belcher I have ever seen in a dog!!! :D
