haha you're the quick one here!

Nissan would be its loyal subject (remember, Nissan's got its trucks so when a Ferrari gets into a club fight and is tired after the win, a loyal Titan will carry it home). Not necessarily related, but can you just imagine Nissan and Ferrari teaming up? It would be like one of those film stories where a prince marries a peasant girl. :D

Would the peasant girl be like an Ion? :D LOL :D

TheGreatOne
lol how do you come up with this stuff?!

She could be an Ion. We can make exceptions. :D But then who would be the Scaglietti?

Oh hey speaking of Ferraris. The 575 Maranello is being discontinued! It is to be replaced by a roomier version that is based on the Scaglietti! Scaglietti is the only 2+2 Ferrari (meaning, it's got 2 seats up front and 2 in the back). The Maranello replacement will still be a 2 seater. Perfect for just the prince and his peasant girl. :D

Maranello sounds Italian! :D
I always was a sucker for a happy ending. :D

Maranell replacement is only being spied on at the moment.

But here are the pics of (1) - the current 575M Maranello; and (2) - the queen Ferrari, the 612 Scaglietti! :D Just look at those curvy lines! Those cars just need a woman in the passenger seat, and off we go. :D

That is a beautiful car, Yudansha!! And I can't imagine it in any color but red! :)
Not even blue. :D

They do have it in blue. :=)

But that is the Ferrari red colour. An expensive blend for an exquisite owner.

Serena - I can see where you are coming from in terms of worrying about being smothered. In the movies, when you see an airbag inflate, it always seems to stay inflated, like a big balloon! It's pretty misleading, as in reality, this does not happen.

That was exactly it. All I've ever seen of an airbag is the way they show them on TV--right in your face, and not coming down soon enough to suit me. :D

Thanks! :) I should have asked that a long time ago. :indiffere

Mine ain't no glass jaw either.

I've been *accidentally* punched while trying to subdue some rowdy children. :D
I'm still not sure about the accidental part, though.

What is required by law? Actually blowing up faulty airbags? While testing them, you mean? Or is that some kind of Canadian entertainment? :D

You mean that's how fast that airbag will hit me? As fast at the fastest F1 cars??
Oh, now THERE'S a comforting thought! :D

Thanks, Yudansha! :)

Hey guess we have something in common Serena. Eh? :D If you got a strong jaw mine must be hard as a rock lol. This jaw has taken quite a few good hits and never went down. ;) ;)

Well, being hit by a little kid throwing a trantrum is a little different than the way you've been hit! :D
I'll stick with my way, thanks. :D

Ooops I was supposed to be a good kid, shouldn't have said that.

News:
Toyota is to release a hybrid Camry for the second half of 2006 as a 2007 model using the same components as the '07 hybrid Nissan Altima. Toyota's luxury brand, Lexus, will release the next generation LS in a stretched, LSS, version for 2009. It will feature the industry's first EIGHT speed automatic transmission to up Mercedes-Benz's current industry-high seven speeder available in various of their V6 and V8 models.

The ultimate Maybach - Exetero (a coupe version that is slightly shorter than Maybach 57).
This one dates back to 1938, when Fulda commissioned Maybach to build a streamlined coupe to conduct 120mph+ tire tests. Recently, Fulda has done it again, and the Exetero is to test 315/25ZR23 Fuldas (that is 23" tires with a width of 315mm which is 12.4" OVER A FOOT WIDE tire!!) at speeds in excess of 350km/h (220mph). It will achieve such feat via its 5.9L twin-turbo V12 that outputs 700hp and at least 738lb/ft of torque. The purpose of the car is not as a production model but as a test vehicle. However, once even a handful customer inquiries turn up, the Exetero could see the light of day on the Maybach's very exclusive (also read as VERY expensive) model line.

In other news (more closely affecting North America): GM's plans for a rear-drive Buick Velite sedan, convertible, or anything else are officially dead. The murder also affects any rear-drive Chevy coupe, Camaro, Chevelle, or otherwise. The plug on the new Zeta platform was pulled. According to GM, Holden's Zeta rear-drive platforms aren't considered refined enough for rear-drive Buicks and Chevys to compete with the Mercedes-based Chrysler and Dodge models, and Cadillac's Sigma platform is too expensive to be used for GM's mainstream brands. Cadillac's small-block-based V10 has been dropped, and so has Ford's Hurricane 6.2L V8. The only rear-drive program spared is the upcoming '08 GTO (a Mustang lool-a-like), and Saturn continues to move upmarket as a "warm-and-fuzzy" Toyota. :D

Ferrari Superamerica (see photos below) is still the world's fastest convertible (200mph).

Nissan Update!

EDITED! (see last picture)

The previously mentioned bit about a supercharged 350Z is not news anymore, but a serious work in progress. A twin turbo 350Z - currently in an Infiniti G35 coupe dress with a GTR nameplate - will have an output of at least 450 horsepower. Now, consider this - the current model 350Z 35th Anniversary addition with 300 horses from Nissan's legendary 3.5L V6 accelerates from standstill to 100km/h (0-60mph) in 5 seconds flat.

This limited edition features about a 13 hoursepower boost from the standard Z and improves acceleration by over 0.1 of a second. Here's what this could mean: the upcoming twin turbo at this point in time is seeing a boost of 150 horsepower over the 35th Anniversary edition 350Z which would improve the acceleration time by at least 1 second, putting the future Z in a realistic 4.0s 0-60mph (0-100km/h) league and with a V6 engine! From a production automobile, I would say that it is unheard of! Nissan is venturing into a completely new territory of supercars - the territory that Nissan's Skyline touched on briefly.

To compare, Ferrari's new F430 does 3.7s on a timesheet during the same test, while Ferrari's ultimate Enzo does the same in 3.4 seconds. Corvette (any non Z06 package) answers the same challenge in 4.4seconds, while Dodge's premium Viper goes in 3.9s. Mercedes's SLR goes in 3.6s and no supercharged Mitsu Evo or Subaru can better what Nissan's GTR proposes.

Finally, consider that the above mentioned supercars, bar Corvette, have a mortgage price tag. The price includes the word "mill" in it - as in "quarter mill; half mill," etc. whereas the GTR should not be priced much over $50k.

(1-2): the discontinued Skyline
(3-4): the new 350Z (not GTR, but Nismo upgraded)
(5): GT-R caught at Nurburgring

more photos...

In Japan, Nissan's Skyline has achieved the same status that Shelby's Cobra has in the United States.

(1-3): Skyline (can't buy these new anymore - not at a Nissan dealership)
(4-5): Infiniti GT-R

more of Skyline...

It's the car that's been featured in the intro for 2Fast2Furious. A very cool car, but with steering on the wrong side. :D (I think Nissan's intention was - by Japanese, for Japanese :D)

I may have posted this aleady since it hasn't been "news" for about a year now, but in any case, here is what the concept of the brand new Skyline to be looks like (doesn't it remind you of Shelby's "new" Cobra concept?):

Hmm weren't we going to say which cars were better ,hot wheels or matchbox :)

In my family it has almost always been Ford..I do recall a plymouth duster once :)

"always been Ford"

Do you have alot of mechanics in your family, too? :)
And please, NO "hot wheels" here! :D

Now, here's an actual car that will eat anything which is Ford. :D
Nissan Skyline (R33) - its engine can be tuned and upgraded more than Toyota Supra's ... you can easily squeeze 800hp out of this one (and it gets much easier once you get pants with deeper pockets).
