Beautiful Car!!

Do you have alot of mechanics in your family, too? :)
And please, NO "hot wheels" here! :D

Now, here's an actual car that will eat anything which is Ford. :D
Nissan Skyline (R33) - its engine can be tuned and upgraded more than Toyota Supra's ... you can easily squeeze 800hp out of this one (and it gets much easier once you get pants with deeper pockets).

Wow Yudansha!! I think you have just officially converted me into a Nissan fan!

That car is amazing! Is it on the market or what?

"I only work on simple stuff..."

LOL Amos, any of them work for a junk yard by any chance? :D
Ford F150 and Mustang are the only two worthy Fords (I am discounting all of Ford's subsiduaries with that statement except for Mercury).

"I think you have just officially converted me into a Nissan fan!"

ONLY JUST???
I've already converted all of Julie's family (but I think one of her kids still has it in for the dreaded Aztec :D).

"That car is amazing! Is it on the market or what?"

It's been on the market for over a decade now, but it is made only in Japan - meaning it is right hand drive (which in turn means that the steering wheel is on the "wrong" side of the car). You can, however, get one shipped here or buy a used one off of an existing owner (still, with a steering wheel on the opposite side). One Skyline like in the photos you've seen will set you back at least $100 grand. It is becoming an exclusive model. But, you can get the chasis itself and a beat up engine cheaply (20k maybe). And then spend about $50-70k more to get it into its original shape or something like was shown in 2Fast2Furious.

Anybody else need converting? (to Nissans that is :D)

I have heard a couple different tales in my family about certain cars we have had that could barely make it down the street..but go near a junk yard, and it purred :)

Ford - if it's a classic, restore it; otherwise, don't let that purring get to you.

Not news, but something that's upcoming and finally exciting from General Motors.

2007 Saturn Sky - the affordable sportiness (a nice chick car, too :D)
On Sale Date: Spring 2006
Body Style: Convertible
Category: Sports Cars
Drivetrain: Front-wheel drive
Engine: 2.4-liter 170-hp ECOTEC 4-cylinder engine (with short-throw 5-speed manual/automatic)
Estimated Price: expect anywhere below $25,000

Overview (from msn)
The Saturn brand is the latest division of GM to benefit from new products and new styling. According to Gary Cowger, president of GM North America, there will be three new products coming for Saturn in the next few years, doubling the brand’s lineup.

The first of the new models is the sporty Sky roadster. Sharing a platform with the Pontiac Solstice, the Sky is a two-seater with a retractable soft-top that folds completely into the trunk for a clean look.

Oh and Serena, when did you change your hair colour? :D

What do you think of this fish-eyed one? This is the new Mazda MX5-Miata (the world's best selling convertible).

2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
On Sale Date: August 2005
Body Style: 2-Door Convertible
Category: Sports Cars
Drivetrain: Rear-wheel drive
Engine: 2.0-liter 170-hp DOHC 4-Cylinder with 5-speed manual or 6-speed manual/auto (engine output reduced to 166hp when mated with an automatic)
Estimated Price: $20,995-$27,260

Overview (from msn)
Sixteen years after its initial introduction, the MX-5 Miata has been completely redesigned. In fact, there are no carry over parts from the 2nd generation Miata it replaces.

The new Mazda MX-5 Miata is slightly larger in every dimension, which makes the roadster more comfortable, especially for taller drivers. (It was very uncomfortable for me to sit in one ... starting with closing the door :D) While it is larger, the Miata retains its agile driving feel and through the use of many weigh-saving components, the new roadster weighs only 22 lb more than its predecessor.

While instantly recognizable, the Miata features bold fender flares, a large grille, standard 16-inch alloy wheels (17-inch on Sport and Grand Touring) and dual chrome exhaust pipes give the Miata a more aggressive look.

The convertible top features a glass rear window, and is only available with manual operation. However operation is quite simple, and requires only releasing on latch to lower the top. Raising or lowering the top can be done without leaving the vehicle. A removable hardtop will once again be an available option.

Miata will be available in five different trims: Club Spec, MX-5, Touring, Sport and Grand Touring. Priced at just under $21,000 (including destination charge), the Club Sport is still well equipped, featuring anti-lock brakes, 4-wheel disc brakes, power windows, front and side airbags and a 4-speaker AM/FM/CD sound system.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Miata Grand Touring can be had with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Bilstein shocks, leather upholstery, a specially-tuned Bose 7-speaker audio system, and Smart Key, which allows for keyless entry and engine start if the Smart Key is in the possession of the driver.

The new MX-5 Miata is expected to arrive in showrooms in August.

Not everything goes in blue, but judge for yourself. :D

Thanks for the info Yudansha. When I get my car I will be choosing either for a used Mustang, Nissan, or Pontiac. Haven't made up my mind yet. ;)

yudansha

TheGreatOne
Which Pontiac?

And don't get influenced by those Pontiac commercials that compare a V6 G6 to a 4-cylinder Altima. Outrageous! :D

If you go for that Mustang, I shall warn you now that your insurance will go right through the roof (even if it's a convertible Mustang :D).

And which Nissan did you have in mind? Mustang is much cheaper than either the 350Z or the Skyline - the main reason being is that Nissan gives you muscle for sport while Ford let's you only cruise.

I can help you make up your mind, if you want. :D

it's funny Serena, here in France we have a Lady Singer called
Lio,she had a song:"Les Brunes comptent pas pour des prunes!" :D :D :D
it means that Brunettes do Matter!LOL
Because in France we tended to like only the Marylin Monroe;not Manson LOL;
Type at the movies and so forth!
It is serious then Lio made that song to defend the Brunette type!
:D
I'll try to post the lyrics on another thread!
Cadillacs are fun !Even though I have never been in one either I Like these cars!this company 's so nice they sent me wonderful documents and a free
magnifying glass with their logo embedded inside!...For Free!
They are so cool,I think I'll hav eto try one!LOL

Automotive brochures are free from any manufacturer - you just have to ask.

Cadillacs are nice (on the exterior), when you're just looking at the General Motors line-up. As far as luxury, GM overcharges you for something that is not worthy. It's always been that way, and continues through to today.
__________

"And we didn't care for her that way, did we?"
No, you're right, but I'll be just fine with her any way she wants to be.
And I'd be willing to teach you to drive a Ferrari before you get that Mazda (which also comes in automatic but with reduced power by about 14hp).

And what about this one, Serena? It is the new Mitsubishi Eclipse. It's a little more of a "manly" car with that Audi TT/Porsche 911 look and one for tuners. It doesn't come anywhere close to competing with Nissan's 350Z, but it's a new rennovation for Mitsubishi who say if this Eclipse (the best Mitsubishi seller in North America from the Mitsubishi model line) doesn't perform on the market, that it will be the last you'll see of Mitsubishi in North America (for awhile at least).

Overview (from msn)
The Eclipse is Mitsubishi’s sporty coupe that is redesigned for 2006 with bold new styling first revealed by the Eclipse Concept-E at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. The Eclipse has been the best selling import coupe for the last fifteen years. With bold new styling and powerful new engines, the 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse delivers a higher level of sophistication, and Mitsubishi aspires to impress a new group of buyers with this car as well.

The all-new 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse is offered in two trim levels, GS and GT. The Eclipse GS features a 162-horsepower 2.4-liter engine with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed Sportronic automatic transmission. The GT is powered by a 263-horsepower 3.8-liter MIVEC V6 with a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed Sportronic automatic transmission. :)D) Standard equipment includes AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system, 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, power windows, remote keyless entry, ABS, rear spoiler, and six air bags. The Eclipse GT adds traction control, front strut tower bar, parabolic fog lights, and a center display with outside temperature and compass.

MSRP (for U.S. in U.S. funds): $19,399 - $23,699

Again, do you think blue goes with this car?

You got that right, man. I took my car in for a service yesterday - cost me £222 including parts, Labour and VAT. All it needed was a new windscreen wiper! Hahaha! The oil change listed on the receipt came in at over £30 for 4 litres of oil. I dunno what sort of oil they are using, but I would hope it is made with liquid gold at that price. AND they kerbed one of my alloy wheels, which they are now going to have to repair. GM suck (am I allowed to say suck? I'm not being vulgar, honest...)

"am I allowed to say suck?"

LOL it's the truth!

Here, you can get excellent wipers for $20 - and not just for one but for a pair of them! :D

Glimmerman, maybe you should learn how to change that oil yourself. It might save you some cash.

Yeah, dude. Don't I know it. The wiper blade was £6! It has a tiny GM stamp on it, which you can see if you have a powerful enough magnifying glass. My knowledge of changing the oil is limited to removing the oil filler cap, pouring in a litre of the thick, golden fluid, replacing the cap and driving away. They didn't only do that though - they changed the oil filter too! And the fuel and air filter - I definitely got my money's worth... The thing that worries me is - how would I know if they hadn't done all these things, but just said they had?!

The worst thing about it is though, I arrested some little ted last Christmas for stealing some CD's... and it's just my luck that he happens to be a mechanic at the Vauxhall (GM) service centre. Now, I've got to worry that he might have cut the brake lines or something to get revenge for me processing his butt to the cops! :D

Ohh, decisions, decisions.
Good thing I don't REALLY need to make one, eh? :D

I actually like this Eclipse better--and still in red! ;)
Although that is a nice shade of blue. :D

Thanks for the offer to teach me to drive a stick! :D
Would you recommend it in an automatic, though--even at a loss of 14 hp?
Bearing in mind they call me lead foot for a reason. :D

yudansha

"Bearing in mind they call me lead foot for a reason."

LOOOOOOOOL! Who calls you that? :D A little powerful leg lady are you, Serena. :D

For cars like these, I would personally, strongly recommend getting a stick. (does that sound weird or what :D) Anyways, 14hp makes alot of difference for a Miata since it's a very light car. That also makes it one of the easiest cars to drive (if you can comfortably fit :D).

Notice that the Saturn Sky, Mazda Miata, and Mitsubishi Eclipse are all within the same price range (US $20k-25k) so it all comes down to personal preference. They are very new and there haven't been concrete testing done to compare these with respect to their on track performance. But, you can rest assured that you will enjoy any one you pick.

For me though, Miata is out of the question as I just can't get comfortable enough in it (but it's got such a nice looking interior). The Eclipse doesn't make as bold of a statement as the previous generation (eventhough the new one is much more sporty mechanically). I'm just not into tuner cars like these. And the Saturn ... well, it's got my pick but it is a GM so... I'd rather spend a few grand more and get the Nissan 350Z.
