Well, and here's something else that just came up this evening.
Anybody remember "Hee Haw" and that bad luck song?
"Gloom, despair, and agony, ah, me...
Deep dark depression, excessive misery...
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...
Gloom, despair and agony, ah, me...."
I just talked to my father tonight. He went for his six months check-up of his urinary tract system and has been told he has prostate cancer and has to go for surgery some time soon (as soon as they finish repairing the hospital from the damage sustained from Hurricane Juan).
He's 89 years old. Who knows how the surgery is going to affect him.
I need to have money to be able to fly down there (he lives in Nova Scotia) at a moment's notice, should anything untoward happen (or to look after him if he does survive the surgery - his monthly pension is $4 a month too high for him to have home care without having to pay for it). There's no way I can move now, in addition to all of your (Serena's) excellent reasons.
-TD, even more bummed than before
