80s Action RULE
Hi!
Just wanted to take 5 mins (fine, maybe a little more) to introduce myself, thus sparing us all the akwardness (aka you guys making fun of or ignoring) of me posting some 2 lines long reply in whatever thread.
As for me joining, well, I just watched Out Of Reach - which was a fine Seagal flick - and browsed the web trying to figure out if The Foreigner & Out For A Kill were any decent. Still haven't, but anyway, I remembered this site/board and said to myself, 'what the hell, why not just join'.
Oh, and don't be fooled by the thread's name, I'm no Seagal newbie. Yeah, yeah, I'm a 22 years-old male here and wasn't old enough to enjoy Seagal's glory days, but, hell, I must've been somewhere around 12 or even younger (I live in Canada, where the MPAA doesn't exist, bwahahahaha) the first time I saw Hard To Kill (watched it with my old man, actually). So maybe I didn't fully understand why it was one hell of a funny/entertaining movie, but still, that must count for something.
But seriously, though, I've been on this 80s Action trip for a good 2 years and it inevitably led me to realize how much Steven Seagal (and most his movies) kicked some serious ***. Own about 10 of them and just freakin' love them. Fine, maybe not Oscar material, but, man, Steven just makes them WORK, you know?
I'll confess right off the bat that I don't really take them that seriously and usually laugh my *** off with the one-liners and occasional *cough cough* cheese. Besides, you just gotta love Seagal's "Cop/Tough guy with a dark past" vintage character.
Anyway, I'm just too lazy and tired to post a Top Ten (or whatever list) of Seagal's movies, but well, this one fan is glad to be aboard and I guess I'll see you folks around.
Cheers!
