Smile dammit!
MMCK you are entitled to your opinion. I have brought the weight thing up a few times myself. A couple of stone off would make a massive difference to his action scenes. As i lost 4 stones in hospital i feel justified in that comment, lol!
Charak,we all know he's not Olivier but he does ok with his acting in my opinion but again, you are perfectly entitled to yours.:D

To lighten the mood turn up the speakers and wait 'till the end. It's a howler!

Hi Storm, how you keeping man?

You lost four stone! Wow, I bet your clothes are'nt as tight-fitting now. LOL. Certainly an operation can soon thin you down a bit!
You seem to know what I mean regarding Seagal's weight issue. I am not meaning to start sh*t with anyone, but I can't believe some of his fans are in total denial off this problem. I suppose they mean well and are entitled to their opinion, as you say.

Charak

I would be inclined to dissagree with you to an extent and think that he has got a little better at acting since "Above The Law". In my opinion his inexperience as an actor showed in that one, and thought he moved his head from side to side too much when he was talking in that film. Your right though, a few acting lessons would'nt go a miss and he is still capable of putting in bored performances like in "Fire Down Below", but "The Patriot" and "Exit Wounds" proved to me that he can act when he has to. Just my opinion.

Peace.

I'm not in denial, I just like a little meat on him...LOL...
And I think he's a good actor...He does however show his boredum pretty easily, agreed...
I frankly think he's a lot more exciting than his peers, mainly Stallone and Schwarzenegger...I mean really, do they have any acting skills? They don't even wow you with the fights...At least Seagal is cool....Steven could evidently kick someones butt for real, mess em up bad, you know? People just know it...If he wants to lose weight for whatever reasons then ok, but I still like him kinda big...I am not the judge for what makes his career flow, though...He is...If it is successful for him then I am all for it...
I think the weight only makes him look more meanacing, and thats good for the kind of roles that he does...

I do respect everybody's opinions and I don't deny he's got problems...I just hope he could handle them someday.
Maybe I'm blind...Sometimes we're bound to illusional things...Maybe I'm foolish...and I don't deny it either.
If it was in my hands to help him make a move I'd do it immediately...But what is it I can do?Shouldn't I just quit watching his films? He's an action here-that's how he came into my life when I was impressed how he could kick butts, such a tough buttkicker! And I do believe he's got a strong potential. And he's got some acting inclinations...though I wouldn't say that much...His acting ain't the best but ain't the worst either. And there are too many things I respect this man for.
Maybe we could write him a letter, ask him some things to make it clear and suggest something to him?If it was a possible trick could it change anything?
No offense to anyone.Forget those silly hassles here.Everyone's got a right to express his opinion no matter what it sounds like.A little bit of good critics really never hurt anyone.

No way is Seagal more exciting than Schwarzenegger! Not at the moment anyhow, as Terminator 3 is coming, baby! Schwarzenegger doesn't need to 'wow' people with awesome martial arts skills - his sheer strength and power is what is on display in the majority of his fight sequences. Take The Terminator, for example. It would look kind of silly if a Terminator suddenly started blocking punches with lightning speed and launching pretty jumping kicks, as it is a 1000lb machine made of steel! When The Terminator gets punched, it absorbs the blow and then kicks ass!

The fact is that Seagal needs to get his act together fast and stop delivering mediocre action sequences and sub-par movies. T3 will probably make 10 times the money of all of Seagal's films combined, and that is not me being pessimistic or critical of Seagal - it is simply a fact. Schwarzenegger is older than Seagal but is still in awesome shape and has consistantly delivered the goods in terms of quality action movies for the last two decades.

Glimmer,
Steven Seagal is human, not a machine, but if he did a movie where he was a machine it would probably be pretty awesome too, with the kind of special effects they would use...I find him awesome, anyway...I (and I dare say not too many other women I know) am not very impressed with Arnold and certainly don't think he's attractive...I don't think he appeals to very many women in a charismatic way...Anyone could take his place in his movies....My main reason is because I know everything he does is not real...Seagal can really fight, and he is charming...All the muscles in the world don't mean anything if you can't really use them....

I like Arnie in some of his movies and cant wait to see T3 but it will not make 10 times more than all of Seagal's movies combined-thats for sure..Seagal's movies have made about 2 billion dollars world wide or more. Under Siege1 and 2 made almost 300 million dollars in the United States alone and that was in the early nineties.

Oh and that 2 billion dollar figure is just the theatrical count and does not include what Seagal's movies have pulled in on video/laser disc/DVD.
I think all of us knows that T3 will not be grossing 20 billion dollars worldwide in our lifetime though.

I dont agree with some of your assesments on Arnie. The main one being that anyone could take his place in his movies-: no, I dont think so because as much as Arnie is'nt the best actor, he definatly has charisma and that is probably why he has stayed pretty much on top of his game for the last two decades. He just has a way of delivering one-liners and his super strong tough guy persona is what a lot of people pay to see him for -: they like to see him manhandle the badguys, they like to see him go toe to toe with 8ft aliens, they like to see him kill people in pretty OTT ways. It says a lot about the man when he was able to eclipse Sylvester Stallone ( then one of the biggest action box office draws in the world) and become the biggest action hero of the eighties.

Also to pick up on your point that you prefer Seagal because you know everything he does is real and that he can really fight -: Well you are right that he can fight in real life but you would not know that from watching his most recent films. He has'nt stayed in shape, he requires a lot of stunt doubles, his fights are either filmed in the dark or edited hastily, I mean the list goes on and that is why Schwarzenegger will always remain streets ahead of him to the the general filmgoer - he has stayed in shape and not become lazy and probably why he works for big film studios and not Sony Screen Gems.

Glimmer, you are right, T3 will make vastly more money world wide than most of Steven Seagal's films combined, and like Glimmerman I am not pointing any of this out as to diss Seagal, but rather that it is just a factual observation.

Peace.

Are you sure Under Siege 1 &2 made $300 million in the US alone? I was sure "Under Siege" made $150 million world wide and that "Under Siege 2" made just $51 million in the US alone. If this were true ( which I'm nearly sure it is) there is no way both movies made $300 milllion alone in the US.

Maybe you meant world wide?

You are right MMCK2; US1 and US2 made about 160 million and 110 million respectively worldwide so close to 300 million is a worldwide figure for the 2 movies but his movies have made over 2 billion worldwide and T3 will not even make half of that total worldwide. The Titanic is the only film to ever make over 1 billion worldwide and it was also rated pg. T3 will make around 500-600 million worldwide if it is extremely successful.

Lets not forget that Arnie's last several movies have tanked at the box office and he has'nt had a hit in years. T3 is something that will give him a little more time on the bigscreen but that is mostly because of the special effects and the following of the film itself. Arnie cannot carry a big screen action film on his own anymore as we have seen over and over the last few years even with the big budgets and big studios and good directors(e.g. Andrew Davis). He has to make sequels to his earlier successes to have any interest at the box office(thus he will also be making a sequel to True Lies in the near future). The terminator has a following of its own and to tell you the truth, I'm going to see how good the new terminator is that gets to kick Arnie's ass all over the screen..She does look good..

I like the teminator films, too....But I doubt this one is going to do that well....As for sensei's weight, I think he's a big boy and can decide what is good for his career or not...
If he wants to lose weight he knows he can, and if he doesn't want to then that's his choice...I will always support him no matter what and I hope he is always successful...
Fact is sometimes losing weight is difficult to do, and yes there are things that happen as a result of being overweight I do know, but Steven is human so we have to consider that too...Maybe he knows all this, I would think so, I don't think we need to tell him a darn thing, I think he's an extremely smart man...I also think that he could care less what people think of his weight, because he is a quality person on the inside, and I think sometimes it's all too tiring to have people judge you on your looks...Maybe he feels this way too, I dunno...All I know is I accept him and love him just as he is and he will always be beautiful to me in more ways than I can describe...If the fans are too shallow to see how special he is then it's their loss in my opinion...

From what i hear from the preview screening is T3 is not too great.

There appears to be a lot of humour and not enough plot.

I've seen the trailers and it doesn't look nearly as good as the 1st and 2nd ones, but i will probably reserve my full judgment until i've seen it.

Arnie needs a hit movie much like Seagal. I believe there's even talk of him doing a 2nd True Lies.
