My sweet darling if I could only meet you today, there would be so many things I would want to do and to say
I would tell you how much I adore you, and I would show you just how much I care, and don’t you know my dear that I would always be there
My sweet darling I would kiss you so very tenderly and squeeze your big hand so tight, and yes, I would smile endlessly from morning until night
I would softly caress your handsome cheek and hold you so close to me, I would love you until you were breathless, and swear I would forever stay beside you my dear, I would never, ever leave
Because you are the only one, and this was all meant to be, and darling don’t you see that I’m just living for the day that you will finally hold me
You are the brightest most brilliant diamond that lights up the night sky, you are the very reason I smile, you’re the reason I cry
My darling somehow I know, only you could ever satisfy me, because you see, there is no other man in this whole world who could ever begin to compete
There is no one who is so very beyond compare, you are most magnificent my dear, you are so very sublime, you make my dreams come true, you are wonderful, so beautiful, simply and truly divine
My dear don’t you know I am so blinded, because there is only you, but it’s still so easy for me to see this was meant to be, because when I look at you, I know you were made just for me
Everything is so clear in my heart now darling, nothing else left to say, I simply need you, love you, and want you in every single way
I adore you so completely, and yearn for your sweet touch alone, so my dear I guess I’m politely just trying to ask you this
It's a small request dear, so please somehow just try to define, could you ever say that someday you might love me too will we be together with me loving you?
Because dear, this I wonder and I still so need to know, could you ever say someday that you will would always be there and that you would hold me so tightly and never ever let me go?

Hello darling, I’m just writing this to say, that I adore you and wish you a most wonderful day
Wherever you are may your day be amazing and blessed, may you be in good health, happy, and be truly content
I wish you all of these things and I just wanted to say, that I wish them for you each and everyday, and my dear someday I hope you will finally see, just how much you really do mean to me
Someday I hope to finally be there, right by your side and holding your hand so that you can see everything I am feeling, don’t you know it will all shine here so bright in my eyes, all this pride, admiration, and affection that I can no longer hide
Yes someday my darling I hope that you will realize that you mean everything to me, that you are so full of grace, which I just can’t deny
Yes dear perhaps someday together we can, prosper and grow tall as the highest green trees, and share a love as pure high as the skies and as wide as the land
Perhaps someday dear, we shall have a strong bond as long as an endless white stream, and share a most bountiful love wide and deep as all of the blue seas
So I’m writing this darling just to let you know, that I wish you only good things my dear, on this day and ever more, and need you to know it’s only you I truly adore
Don’t you see that there will never be anyone so special to me, because these glorious things that I feel they run true, and so very deeply
My dear I’m just trying so hard to find the words to let you know and make you see that sweet darling you mean the whole world to me and that if you were mine I would never let you go
And if I could be there dear, don’t you know I would always stay, I would love you and cherish only you until my dying day
I’d hold you and comfort you, and keep you so satisfied, and I would always care for you and be there right by your side
So take these sweet things dear, and hold them so close your heart, let them give you strength and inspiration, until I am finally there with you my darling never ever to depart

Please save me my darling because I just don't think I can go on without your brilliant smile, without the feel of your strong hand, and most of all without your sweet song
I long to be there, wherever you are, tightly holding your hand, and laughing with you dear, because don't you know that in my dreams there's just no place that is too far
There is no ocean that is too wide, there is no river too deep to keep me from being right there by your side, because my sweet darling don't you see, I'm so adoring, and I'm playing for keeps
My dear I could never love you for just a passing moment, or just for one day, not a lone single night dear, darling don't you know I would always stay
For you are the deepest feeling of pride that lives here within my heart, and you are the sweet tender love that shines in my eyes never to burn out, never to depart
But these sweet dreams dear, they fade far too soon, and all that remains is me all alone here just wanting and needing you
And then comes the deep sorrow I can no longer hide when I wake and you have gone so far away from my side, all that lingers is your handsome face in my mind and this burning need that stays and soon shatters all my pride
Darling can't you see I'm begging you to stay and I'm giving you my all, along with my mind and my heart, and I just somehow want to tell you that I need you so and in every single way with a love that won't ever fade
So if you can, just promise me my dear, that we will always share this strong bond, and that it won't disappear, and someday soon perhaps we can finally share so much more and know the joys of time spent together as one
Because my dear don't you see, I know that you were meant just for me
and darling I swear that I will always care, because you are the one and
only man in this whole world I shall forever adore

Darling don't you see, you've stolen my very heart away from me, and it just lies bleeding on the floor
If I only knew what my devotion meant to you, I swear I would do anything I could do to be there with you, for you are the only man I so truly adore
If only I could know that you needed me so, I would fly there straight into your strong arms and gladly become lost and seduced by all of your sweet charms
If I only knew how, I would tear down, crush, and plow over all the rocks, mountains, and barriers that are now keeping me from you
Darling don't you see that you mean everything to me, and that I'm just waiting so patiently for you to come near
So just promise me that some fine day, you'll come to me and whisk me away, because dear don't you know that with you I would happily stay and always be there for you, for all of my life, and all the rest of my days

Darling in my dreams, you shed all your skin, only your spirit is here, so near beside me to accept and defend all this love that I have for you right here in my heart and my mind, this feeling is never taken for granted dear, and it only grows with time, but still it is so very hard to define

In the mornings light my minds imagination lies here so fast asleep, but somehow still seeks to find your most handsome face, my heart longs so to hear your soft voice whisper and speak to my mind, and then as I feel you finally coming so near, I become joyful as I feel your powerful grace suddenly appear, as we lock together in a tender and meaningful, yet very strengthening embrace

Then my darling I can feel you softly taking my hand your spirit glowing so strongly as you become my man, enlightening my heart and my mind with your wisdom and true grace you fill me with inspiration as I look into your sweet face, you fill me with adoration when I feel your spirit touching me, and most
of all darling I want you to know that within these tender moments you have set my frightened heart free


Time and again, you stir all my emotions and sweet devotion, as you hold me so tenderly for such short and sweet poignant moments and then my dear, as
I stir restlessly from my sleep, you just disappear and I am left with a longing so deep and a sheer need for you, each morning, and every night and all the day through

To honor and defend what is there in your heart and your mind, this is what I am longing to do my darling, time after sweet time, these things you hold dear are why I truly love you, these my dear are the most important things, not just the grace of your face, or the thrill of your gorgeous body my dear, for that would never do, because bodies do not stay, with each moment they change, with each day and each lifetime these broken shells fade away

I am longing my dear to make these dreams of you become such sweet reality because I adore you, and need you, yes it’s all true don’t you see, I care more with each hour, with each moment I love only you, and it grows more with each day, for my darling somehow some sweet way, we have shared love and laughter and many wonderful days, we have a love big as the sky, and this feeling of mine dear it shall never fade away, my darling I promise it shall never die

So this my darling is what I so want you to know, I love you forever and with all of my heart and my soul and if our love never becomes a sweet reality then I just want you to know that I will keep you here within my heart and I will cherish you forever my dear, until the mountains crumble into the sea, until I am but a faded flower and I have blown away you will remain right here in my heart dear I promise that you will always be here beside me, from my heart you shall never, ever stray

My forever love, don't you know that all the night long I can hear your sweet song, so darling please say that you'll never go, just say that you'll stay and keep singing to me

In samasara we're stuck, in this cycle full of pain and despair, but darling with luck we'll break free, and we'll love pure and breathe true and share with all of our hearts for a sweet eternity

Darling you've let me see reality, and you've let me know real love, you've carried me on your shirtails across dusty lands and through the deep saline seas, and together we've soared above the billowing white clouds to reach the bright blue skies above

What we have shared is boundless, limitless, vast and so deep, don't you know dear that for lifetimes we've been caring and sharing this feeling, yes dear its true, it's always been just me and you

So just say you'll stay right by my side, for darling you're my guide, and you mean so much to me, there are no words to left speak, I have no eyes with which to see, it's just this feeling my dear of loving you so sweetly, dear it's true can't you see, a pure, and simple love so strong, this was meant to be

December Dawn

Morning dawns.
A faint light towards the east
stretches wary fingers along the ground,
and creeping thus,
paints the snow coverlet
an old and tarnished silver.

High above,
old Selena shakes her hair,
and from it drops a single shining star,
the morning star.
It fades away as day creeps on
unsuspecting dawn.

I wrote that on my 18th birthday. And no, I didn't make a mistake - Selena was the goddess of the moon before Apollo gave her the push. Sorry, Serena!

I stopped writing poetry 15 years ago when a friend of mine (who has a Ph.D in literature) told me I was the typical amateur poet, pointing out all the things I did wrong with imagery, meter, etc. The last poem I wrote, a "sestina", written about 1988 about - of all things - Sherlock Holmes I sold a couple of years ago to a magazine, but, alas, it has yet to see print. I'm not hopeful it will ever see print.

That's really quite lovely, TD. I knew you were talented as a writer, but I haven't seen any of your poetry before. I'm glad I don't have a Ph.D. if it means I might not have been able to enjoy what I just read. It's a shame you've stopped. Maybe it's time to start again!

I wish I could - I've tried, but it's as if a switch has shut itself off, and I can't get it to go back on again. I used to write short poems like that, on some of the oddest subjects, but when my friend gave me his honest opinion about my abilities, that part of my brain just turned itself off.

Thanks for reading this little poem, and enjoying it.

Eternally

For the rest of my days and in so many ways, I will always love you, for my dear I adore you

For the rest of my nights my dreams will take flight, you are the moon and the all stars my heart is in your hand, I am so lost to your charms

Forever and a day you shall be so special and so wonderful to me, dear don't you know that I just love and I need you so

No matter the day, no matter the time, all I want you to know is I just need you to be mine, dear I just want you so, and I promise you my love, that If you were mine, I would never, ever, let you go

So sparkle, gleam and shine, darling you are so sublime, don't you see my darling that you are like a bright diamond in my eyes, the most brilliant and most special and beautiful being I believe that I have ever seen

My dream dear can't you see, that you simply mean the whole world to me?
My darling I just cherish you so, so my dear please say somehow you'll just stay so close to me, if only in my sweetest dreams, somehow please promise me, that you will never, ever, go

So please, let's just hold on so tight, and lets share all this sweet and heartfelt tenderness, darling come to me in the dark of the night and lets ride the beautiful waves of wild abandon so mutually and without any fear, and lets share such passionate nights of sweet cherished pleasure that we can and treasure together forever, if only in these deep dreams, my love, my darling, my dear

Darling, I need you with me, and I cannot see an end to this love, there is no end to it for me my dear, for this is a most beautiful rapture and you alone have caputured my heart and my mind, you mean so much, and I need your touch, because don't you see darling, that I have felt you so strongly, and for so very long that you have become an essential part of this warm, beating heart, but I must wonder my love, can you hear me?

When I look at you, I feel it all, so much power, so much pride, such a spirit, so handsome, so tall, I feel it all, you are right here dear, so deep inside me, but dear I need to know, do you feel me, do you want this love of mine, do you need it too?

So my dear, I ask and I pray with each passing day that you will just stay here beside me, and linger here so tenderly to forever guide me

Dear don't you see, my feelings are so strong deep and pure, all of them are for you and they just flow sweetly and so endlessly, I love you truly, and for all the rest of my days, darling this tender feeling I have in my heart it just grows and it stays, don't you know my dear, that it shall always remain

Something for Serena

Serena, we talked about poetry a while back. The following is one of my favourite sonnets by William Shakespeare, because it describes exactly what love means to me.

And this one, also by W.S., is actually quite funny in the uncomplimentary way he describes his lady love; but notice that he loves her in spite of her apparent shortcomings.

The true ties that bind us my only love, they shall never fade away

True tears of joy, are what you shall behold when I finally see you standing before my love

This feeling inside is a feeling of such pride and sheer admiration which shall never grow old

I adore only you and this wish, if it ever comes true would bring such true bliss to my heart

And dear, I am hoping that with time, someday you'll finally be mine, and everything that is truly divine will keep us together forever, never to part

So my love just try to understand why it is that I need you so, I need you like I need to breathe, and my dear don't you see, I just need you to care and try to share all of yourself with me, all of your thoughts, desires, and dreams

So if you wish, just let me be the one you want to hug and to kiss, and let me be the one you so want to miss when distant travels take you so far away from me

I Was the Quietest One

I was the quietest one
of all those who made the voyage to your port.

No lewd social ceremonies announced me,
nor the deaf bells of ancestral reflections;
my route was the savage music of the birds
releasing to the air my circling generosity.

No ship heavy with opulence carried me,
no oriental rugs supported my body;
over the ships my face appeared
whistling in the round simplicity of the winds.

I did not weigh the harmony of trivial ambitions
which your hand promised full of starburts;
I only weighed on the floor of my agile spirit
the tragic abandon which your gesture occulted.

Your perennial duality was marked by my avid thirst.
You resembled the sea, resonant and discrete.
Over you I went passing my lost hours.
Over me you followed yourself, like the sun in the petals.

And I walked in the breeze of your fallen pain
with the ingenious sadness of knowing myself right
your life was a profound churning of restless fountains
in an immense white river running to the desert.

One day by the yellow shores of hysteria,
many hidden faces of ambition followed you:
through the waves of your tears uprooted from the cosmos
voices leaked without crossing your mystery...

I was the quietest one.
The voice with almost no echo.
The conscience spread in a syllable of anguish,
scattered and tender, throught all the silences.

I was the quietest one.
The one who leapt from earth with no more weapon than a verse.
And here you see me, stars,
scattered and tender, with his love in my breast!
