Just maybe Bush and company are doing it now!!!!
EVERY President makes his mistakes. There is no perfect person, so there is no perfect President. Pick the one that represents your beliefs more.

My "belief" tells me to vote the man least likely to continue destroying the environment, and who won't continue to lead a world-wide crusade without a solid PEACE PLAN; someone other than the man in office who is not answering to either of these challenges at the moment. My beliefs as a member of many environmental organizations and as a human being who believes that "the rest of the world" also has a right to exist as it is, as one who believes we need to find the root cause and reason for terrorism instead of blindly going after any nation simply because they "might" have WMD or we disagree with their leader or government or religion (you don't see anyone challenging China and they have a very bad track record in human rights - but are too great of a military power to challenge), and as one who is following my conscience, I won't be voting for Bush. It's time for a change. Unfortunately, however, the "powers that be" won't let that happen. Ultimately, I put my faith in God Alone and simply try to live my life as peacefully as possible ... "to go peacefully among the noise and haste of the world" ...
Of course there is no perfect person - even Jesus (may peace be upon him) couldn't run for office because the media would always be trying to figure out who his Father really is. Sad but true. He also didn't serve in the military and is a pacifist. Not a very good candidate for a political office but a very good one for a Messenger (except that too many have not actually heeded the messages he brought): Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself; and Know Thyself. I think whoever gets the votes to "win" is irrelavent - the world itself needs much more than that.
Peace

What worries me is that the terrorist came and hit us first. First it was the World Trade Center, then the battle ship Cole, Some of our Embassys, the Pentagon, oh yes, our Twin Towers AGAIN! How many times do we have to turn the other cheek before we say enough is enough and stand up for ourselves and stop getting pushed around. If you try to reason with them, they kill again anyway, again, and again.
Does anyone really think they will go away if America tucks it's tail between its legs and leaves that they will just go away? They hated us before, and they hate us now. I feel we shouldn't let ANY American die in vein. I do not like war, but I do not want them coming here again to kill us some more either.
Terrorist leave a trail and apparently it led to Afganistan and Iraq. It would be nice if the trail ended by terrorists being stopped. I think cowarding now will only fuel their zeal to kill. "Beat America and you can beat anyone"

The idea is to contemplate WHY the terrorists (and in fact so many in the Middle East also who are not terrorists at all) hate the US, and Britain. It isn't as simple as "hunting them down" because that hatred has spread over the entire globe. What it takes is for us to step outside ourselves for a moment and look at others and try to understand how and why they are thinking what they do. It is a very complex set of circumstances, nothing simple about it. What I'm talking about is pre-emtive aggression with verbal overtones of self-righteousness coming from the Bush admin. The average joe on the streets in the US has no real idea how the average joe in the middle east is feeling. The media presents sensationalism because it sells and that's what most people enjoy hearing - think about it next time you watch the evening news - it is full of "news" about film stars, about celebraties, about beheadings and murder and killing and war. There is no mention about the human element, about feelings and motivations behind what people do, except for the occasional shallow expose.
There is no hope for the terrorists - they are lost in their hell which they think is heaven and no amount of talk will retrieve their humanity. However, there IS hope for the average person, here and abroad, to bridge the gap between us all and help us understand our innate goodness and brother/sisterhood. It is the unity between us that needs to be fostered and focused on - this aspect alone will help to prevent those who are on the brink of crazy hatred to step back and take a longer look. It is diplomacy at its utmost function and it is needed now.
The terror will not end until those of us who are not subject to its craziness - hatred - stand up not only for "ourselves" but for all decent human beings.
Even then, it is said that the only One to stop it is Jesus Himself because he is the only Prophet "not born of man" and who can return. Yet even He will be scorned by those who harbor hatred of goodness. There are and will be those who will heed His message - as for those who do not, they will continue to self-destruct.
What is happening in the world today is bigger than anything we have dealt with in the past - it is not "ordinary" war. It will take all the Heart we can muster to fight this battle, for it will not only be fought upon the battlefields of the world but in the Hearts of every human being on the planet. The battle does not belong to one country or one religion or one philosphy or one political leaning - it belongs to us all. The enemy is within each of us as separation, difference, envy, greed, divisions, hatred, and malice. The only weapons against such things are love, compassion, tolerance, forebearance and treating all lives as our own; these belong to everyone and can be used by everyone no matter what religion or belief they have.
The "axis of evil" is within our own hearts and the battle must be fought within our own hearts. Until we focus within, the outward battles could prove fruitless.
The Power comes from Within.

Well, we were quoting politics ... :)
"You cannot attend this university because you're wearing pants ... women are not allowed to wear pants." - The Morality Police, Iraq Sept 2004 (from this evening's newscast) (and this is what we've been fighting for?!)
