Review : Executive Decision

THe movie was everything i wanted in an action movie... Good background music by jerry goldsmith.. great directing ... star studded cast ... so much promise... till seagal died. I still liked this movie.. every min of screen time Seagal had in this movie was oooooh so precious!~

I hired it out thinking he was in it from start to finish as it said STARRING STEVEN SEAGAL and when i saw him die in first 10 mins I took it back and got my money back , didn't watch anymore of it so i,ve not watched it fully.

IS IT ANY GOOD ?

I think this is a very enjoyable action flick and I have no problem with Seagal being killed early on; that was the point! It was the equivalent of Janet Leigh being killed at the opening of PSYCHO, it is designed to surprise and shock you. Just as you think Seagal is going to save the day, he and his team are wiped out and it's left to Kurt Russell to save the day.

The mistake in the casting is not Seagal, but Russell. We've seen Kurt Russell handle himself in action flicks in the past, so he's not entirely convincing as a wimp turned hero. They'd have been better off casting a star not noted for having made an action flick in the past and it would have freshened things up and made it more interesting.

For me, that's what made the demise of his character such an effective moment in the movie. Once he unexpectedly exited the film, the gloves were off. The film played with the expectations of the audience and became a much more interesting movie as a result. Having the audience sitting down expecting a Seagal action movie and then turning the film on its head when an Everyman character takes centre-stage was a brave and effective move.

Then dont watch another movie of his called 'Clementine' he aint in that very long either..and good on you getting your money back..
