Collateral?

Let me put it in a short summary:

Starred in a Mountain Dew commercial
Gets mentioend in a Blockbuster film Collateral
Has multiple movies being made as well as one being released into theaters, his career is anything but OVER..

He was not mentioned in "Collateral". He was mentioned in a review for the movie, which means absolutely nothing at all, except possibly the reviewer was a fan. The mountain dew commercial may have been well received by the fans, and got Seagal publicity, but when my cousin found out about it he thought it was sad that Seagal went from movies like "Under Siege" and making multi-millionaire dollars, to having to do a commercial like that. The movies he is making are not good ones, but nevertheless there appears to a lot of them.

So you are saying his career is over or what?

Technically, no. He is still making films. His career in Hollywood is over, yes, unless "Into the Sun" does well for some reason. I have no problem at all with him going DTV, I just wish they were better made. DTV is actually better in a sense that is cheaper, the sound and picture is good, and in some cases I like seeing movies at home instead of having to go out to the theatre. I am a Seagal fan, but I have to agree, his movies just arent what they used to be.

"the sound and picture is good"

The picture... sure... the sound - no way. You can hear the movie, but all the sound effects are not well done at all.

I prefer quality over quanity. If he made a 1,000 bad movies, I dont think I would be happy just because he is "still making movies."

But wouldn't you prefer him making movies instead of not.

It depends. Are his stunt doubles making the films, or is it him? I am not attracted to Seagal, so I dont get excitement by watching him on screen. I need more then just seeing his face in order to enjoy the movie. :D

It's never over 'till the fat lady sings (or in this case, should it be the fat man)?!! He is doing badly, and he is certainly still on a downward spiral, but in truth, he could totally pan out - get terrible reviews and not be offered any backing money, and even then, make a come back. A come back is all about getting Hollywood to forgive or trust again. A period of quiet, and some hard work on his image, and he could come back at first possibly as a co star, or in television, or even if he really worked at it, with a decent movie. The ball is very firmly in his court. He has to take a long hard honest look at himself, listen to his agent and get on with it. Hollywood is not really about age, but it is about looking good and knowing how to play the game.

I'm not attracted to Seagal either, but I do get excited when seeing him on screen, more then anything in a new movie. Lol

Yes, of course I am excited for a new Seagal movie! I am probably the biggest Seagal fan at my entire school (hopefully not the only one) and I let my friends know it. It has become a joke around my friends, who dislike Seagal, I bring it up everytime we get together. But it is hard to get excited about a film like "Submerged", no matter WHO is in it. Sure, Seagal is in it, but in all honesty, I really wish he wasnt. This is not the kind of thing I would like to see from a guy who made cult classics like "Hard to Kill" and "out for Justice". If the film turns out to be good, I am all for it, as I have said, DTV movies, when they are done right, can be great!

Look at Van Damme's newest ones. Did you see that promotional site for his new film "Wake of Death"?!!? That is a direct to video film, and it looks down right fantastic. I dont feel bad for talking negatively about Seagal, because frankly, it is the truth, whether anyone wants to hear it or not. Seagal has the power to do what he wishes, and at this point, it looks he wishes to stay out of shape and use fighting doubles.

He lokes great, but as we all know, the big man isn't theatermaterial anymore. As long as he doesn't do a megahit we are gonna se him in one dtv-film after another. I'm not sad but it would be great for all the other actionfans to se a real star and not Vin Diesel or Matt Damon at the cinemas.

"Into the sun" will not be the last chans for SS to enter the old arena of moving pictures but maybe one of the last chanses.

Either I love his work...

I totally agree, I don't think they are anything special to the action world.

But we will wait and see for Into The Sun because from all those recent pics it looks like Seagal is really keeping the weight off.

Yeah he looks slimmer, but that doesnt mean he is still in good enough physical condition to do his own fights. Seagal is looking good! Thanks for the pic!

It's not fun to see that there are stuntdoubles. But SS is close to his 55-years-birthday and maybe hes getting old.

Hope not. I blame it on the lowbudget format. They don't have the money or the time to make him fly like he did in "Exit Wounds".

Folks, my whole point in my first post here was this. We've seen this countless times, and many others have noticed this with me. A new member signs up, his VERY FIRST POST is to claim to be a fan, but then criticizes Steven Seagal, lists all his bad points, says why he shouldn't be acting any more, and then walks away and watches the sh*t hit the fan. 99% of the time they never come back, or if they do, they return a couple months later and do the same thing. Don't believe me? Have you ever known Serena to lie to you?

Did any of you regular members ever do that? Even the ones here who don't care for his latest movies or the stunt doubles or voices or whatever. That's fine. I like you and respect your opinion, even if I disagree. But did any of you come on and with your FIRST POST start criticizing? I don't think so in 99.9% of you.

Now, "Charles Bronson", if I'm mistaken about you and your intentions, then I will sincerely apologize to you here on the forum. But I'll wait to see what happens first.
