I've never used Tivo but that might be even easier, since there's no tape to use up.

I've never seen, nor do I have any concept of how Tivo works. One of my doctors I work closely with has it, though, and has offered to "record" things for me in the past.

Is this something that would require a lot of effort or time on his part if I asked him? He's not someone I'd want to owe a big favor to--know what I mean? ;) :D

No encounter with Steven's commercial anywhere last night, and I even goofed off a night when I was supposed to be working to channel surf. Hey, Kathy, were you watching TBS? OFJ and FDB back to back to back to back. I had the added bonus of having the E!True Hollywood Story on Steven Seagal also running on Star! TV.

However; it might be that Steven's commercial hasn't been released to run in Canada. On Spike TV, for example, a lot of American commercials are blacked out and substituted with Canadian commercials (I know, for example, that there's no way the commercial for Rogers Cable is being seen in the US, or those awful Easy Rock commercials with Leeza Gibbons). This also happens on network television as well.

Yes that was the channel I was watching, and those movies. You are so lucky TD for that one to be on to. Was E True Hollywood Story on at the same time as the movies?
That's when it gets hard for me to pick which one I want to watch the most.

Ok Serena taping it would be a bad idea since none of us know when it will be on. You are right again.
littledragon I will try to check out these channels. Someone said that they saw it on the Simpsons on FOX maybe sunday when the new Simpsons come on. As soon as I see it I will let all of you know. Not that I am planing to see it soon but you never know.

come get some
Hi Serena, I think it's fairly easy to use Tivo... that's why it's becoming so popular. But if you asked someone else to Tivo it for you I don't know how you would get to watch it because it doesn't come with tapes or anything like that. It's all done on the Tivo machine itself I think, so to watch it you have to have the machine that Tivo'd it.

At least I think. This is a new thing for me...

Thanks, Disciple. That was more than I knew! :D

I just went to their web site and found this. After "Yes", my eyes kind of glazed over. :D Do you think this means if it's somehow connected to your VCR via magic cables you can record directly to video cassette?

Q. Can I save my favorite recordings to a tape via my VCR?
A. Yes. In accordance with consumer electronics guidelines, the TiVo DVR provides analog audio/video outputs that are designed to work with a VCR.

Well,I finally received a reply from John but alas, sad news.As he told me he's not into some things as he was before.

Sorry for my absence.but as I wrote Tora...I don't get into some of the things as I once did....somewhat recently I've moved to the East Coast US...but being she wrote and mentioned this "Mountain Dew" commercial I thought I'd pop in and see what info there was here about it....
Ok..I see it's being played currently....seems to be on the West Coast US from what I read....I have all the channels mentioned in one of the posts.....but I haven't seen it yet...I guess the 1st thing is to just get somebody to have it on VHS tape...2nd ..being we are from all parts of the world...it just needs to be converted into MPEG for downloading...
I saw someone mention that they would send it to someone if they did happen to record it.....I'll take that offer up and convert it, and upload it to a site for downloading...and also make a 'streaming video" of it for on-line viewing....tho' MPEG would be the best way to go...it's a much higher quality picture.....but the file size would be at least 10 times the streamer size.....
maybe Craig would have some temp space also for downloading it....
but I still have all my video conversion "things" with me....
if anybody is interested.really all one has to do is get it on tape......
plug the VCR into the PC thru a USB post(using a USB analouge to digital converter)..then just save it as MPEG,MPEG-2..or even MPEG-4(DivX)would be better....then it would at least be in a digital format of some that could easily be e-mailed to someone......
John
PS. Hope everyone has been well.and if I do happen to catch it on tape(if it even plays here on the East Coast) I'll make it available for download for sure.

Thanks for the help, J.Lucas. I'm from Michigan and I saw it here the first night it aired. I'm also the one who said I'd be glad to send out copies if I'm able to record it. I'll refer to your directions here to convert it to MPEG, but if I don't learn to read Greek between now and then, or date a computer geek, I'll just send it to you, okay? :D

Thanks! Good to see you about. :)

LOL.......that's cool.....I was originally in Illinois.....now am in Mass....
if you saw in in Mich that's a pretty good sign..now if that info that Amos posted about it being on again April 2 during a show called "Game Over" at 8:00-8:30pm...it should be obtainable...I just checked my TV listings here for April 2......and that show is on channel 21 for me....but I'm kinda curious as to how Amos would've known when a commercial spot would air...
.Oh and if you do get it..sending a tape(or if you learn Greek) is cheaper these days.the post office now..well for some time now..has a cheaper rate for multimedia...I think the last time I sent a tape in the US it was like $1.35

Yes, they were all on at the same time. Fortunately, though, the E!True Hollywood Story had been on before and I taped it (fingers crossed, though, that I didn't accidentally tape over it, but I'm pretty sure that this time I labelled the tape!).

I watch OFJ on TV only because of those two scenes that were added (to fill out the time from time that was cut for "content") that aren't on the DVD. (Since TBS had edited the movie to include those scenes, then those scenes exist as negatives somewhere, and why was Warner so cheap as to not included them? Ditto the extra scenes in The Glimmer Man. Grrrr).

Also, did you notice the very weird way FDB was edited? I'm thinking particularly the scene in the coffee shop. Taggart takes a bead on the faux-agent (Randy Travis) and nails him through the wall - but all you see is Travis running into the back room and suddenly he's on the floor with half his head blown away. Why would they think that that's okay but show not the actual shooting?

Youse Americans and your tv censors- I can't figure 'em out....

-TD, living in a somewhat more liberal viewing area (though interestingly, not all of Canada is as relaxed about what gets censored as Ontario is, as was indicated on the news recently)

Someone has to record it first, suzi! Be patient! :D

I don't know anything about Tivo, but does it record at different speeds (speed will depend on quality).

I should check this out myself.
