Seagal Mentioned On The Colbert Report

On Comedy Central's political-humor show "The Colbert Report" (weeknights at 11:30 PM USA EST), Steven Seagal was mentioned in an Oscars Award joke. The Joke was...

"If an actor changes his appearance and gains more than 10 pounds for a role, he should automatically be a contender for an Oscar. That includes Jim Carrey in The Grinch, Mike Myers in The Cat In The Hat, and Steven Seagal in Black Dawn."

Yeah, it was a fat joke...But I laughed...then hear laughs and applauds.

True Heather - good things come to those who wait. I don't mind waiting.
Still trying to figure out how really true fans could be so sarcastic about him.

Well, I'm a big fan of Seagal. I own all his films and love watching his martial arts work. But I don't mind a joke about him, especially if it's funny. From my point of view it's amazing how offended his fans get over a little joke. I laughed, that doesn't mean I'm not a fan of his.

Also, as much as I love Seagal, Clooney is a lot more successful and a better actor than Steven. But it's Steven was anything like he was 10 years ago, he wouldn't get nearly the amount of criticism he gets today.

seagalfan128,

if you were the fan of Steven Seagal's that you claim to be, then you'd realize that 'nobody beats Steven Seagal in the kitchen, the box office, and in real life when it comes to success'
Wake up and smell Steven Seagal's coffee

Seagal Box Office - US Gross / Worldwide Gross
Total Grosses $489,714,839 / $628,151,700

Clooney Box Office - US Gross / Worldwide Gross
Total Grosses $1,319,345,730 / $2,352,164,239

source: the-numbers

I used Clooney as an example since he was brought up earlier in the topic. So yes, apparently somebody beats him at the box office.

Listen, yeah I'm a Seagal fan. I love most of his work and find his personality cool and entertaining to watch. But I don't understand why it's so hard to absorb a small joke.

Example: Brokeback Mountain - Wonderful piece of cinema, up for numerous amounts of Oscars, brilliant acting and writing...but of course, there's the jokes.

Same thing for Seagal, and no I'm not the only one. And yes I am the fan I claim to be, otherwise I wouldn't spend money on all of his movies, or even join this board.

Damn I didn't think George Clooney made more money than Seagal at the boxoffice...especially worldwide, it must be because Seagal got fat, started sleepwalking through roles, and picking roles that he should have left for a spirituality class he could have taught.
Damn such a bright start to his career though..hit after hit

Anyone remember just what this thread was about?

"Thread: Seagal Mentioned On The Colbert Report"

Remember??
This thread was a legitimate thread started as a post containing information
that SeagalFan128 thought should be brought here.
It is not, however, an excuse to start attacking one another over something that has nothing to do with the Colbert Report. If those involved wish to argue with one another over "whatever" then do so in a PM and quit nit-picking! This is not the thread for it.
Thank you!
