Catlady, I know "JERK" isn't a problem for you--or anyone else. It's a harmless, everyday word--no one even bats an eye, in public or private, when they hear it. DON'T CONFUSE THAT (creep, dork, jerk, etc) W/ REAL "NAMECALLING LIKE "WIFEBEATER, JA*OFF, PR*CK, AS*H*LE," ETC.
Words like that ARE genuinely INFLAMMATORY and have no place on the Internet, period. BUT, this ISN'T about mere "namecalling." It's about one of us--CASEY--who says "God Bless you," and "Just my opinion," and "You're entitled to your opinion," in one breath, and then slaps you down if you badmouth Seagal in any way. You and I--and all the others--on this otherwise WONDERFUL M.B. practice "LIVE & LET LIVE." Casey does not. What "NAME" did Idaho call Steven Seagal?????????????? What "NAME" did Andre Roger call Seagal?????????? Roger--who was repeatedly attacked by Casey, yet never returned her venom, and simply left this M.B.--only said, "I think Seagal's career might be over (a response to the dismal performance of HPD's premiere)." I disagreed, and posted it--but dammit, I RESPECTED HIS RIGHT TO SAY SO!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Casey did not--"Andre, if you feel that way, why don't you go to some other message board?????????--Why are YOU here." That, Catlady IS the problem. CENSORSHIP!!!!!!!!!!! THAT is what pissed off Idaho--a friend to all before this happened--and also DEEPLY OFFENDED ME, a believer in free speech, as long as its honest, sincere, and not malicious.
TOLERANCE, Mama-san... TRUE RESPECT, not sweet words covering your slings & arrows, because THEY HURT!!! You think IDAHO was just being slanderous for the hec of it (like OMAX and LOHAN on the old board)????????? No way, Jose!! HE WAS HURT AND INSULTED, AND THOROUGHLY ANTAGONIZED by our own resident KGB censor, Casey!! Myself included.
Catlady, a word to the wise--If we try TOO HARD to avoid this nice M.B. getting like the old, unfortunate one, then guess what??--by going from ONE EXTREME TO THE OTHER (I.E., NO CENSORSHIP VERSUS OVERLY-OFFICIOUS, UNNECESSARY CENSORSHIP), We just might end up back where we started. The more things change, the more they stay the same...
