Sleep patterns

I was just wondering how you all sleep (no,not by closing your eyes!). I mean do you get a good night's sleep? I am very tired if i miss out on a night's sleep which i have countless times, espescially in hospital when you cannot settle.
What is the longest you ever slept? Mine is 9 days! I was heavily sedated of course at the time and is a black hole in my life. I did not find out about that space shuttle exploding till Autumn, and it happened winter 03.
No-one sleeps that long, but i also stayed awake 5 days straight through which really turns you into an extra on Dawn Of The Dead!
I think if you dream a lot you can feel drained too,as it must be mentally tiring deep sleep dreaming, and espescially nightmares.
Can you get by on a few hours? Or are you an 8 hours a night person? Just curious..

Same about me-5 to 6 hours,sometimes 4...and the longest I've had I think 14 hours...Not much to experience,eh?

haaaaaaaa Storm!

Well we have a house of people up & down all night so my sleep is broke up with only a couple hours at a time-then up for 30min to hours at a time :(

Thought you're going to ask side sleeper or back or stomach :)

I've always been a light sleeper; any little noise will wake me up. I've also been told I'm extremely restless when I sleep - I moan, I toss and turn, and have really bad sleep apnea as well. I also have this weird thing where I can't sleep on Sunday night - I guess knowing that Monday is back to work (even though I work at home), I just can't fall asleep on Sunday night in expectation of it.

I had a terrible time for about a year after my stepmother died. For some reason, I kept thinking that if I fell asleep, I wouldn't wake up - so every time I was on the verge of falling asleep, I'd shake myself awake. But that was only at night; I could nap during the day without problem.

Interesting subject, Storm!

I can't imagine waking up nine days later, Storm, and realizing that that much time has gone by. And five days without sleep! That can be physically and emotionally damaging, as I'm sure you discovered.

As for me--well.....:D A couple of special people here know about me and my horrible sleeping patterns--and are forever chiding me about them. :D

I survive off of naps. I never sleep more than a couple of hours in a row. Even as a child, though, I needed very little sleep--much to the chagrin of my mother. :D And now working nights, I find my sleeping patterns even worse than ever. An hour here, maybe two hours there, then maybe 20 minutes before work. People are constantly amazed that I can go as long as I do like this. Maybe it's what my body has become accustomed to--who knows--but I very seldom feel physically tired. Just maybe if I've had a virus or worked extra hard. I find my family and friends sometimes forget I need sleep during the day and still call and expect things just because they had a good night's sleep. :D

If it's true what they say and you need less sleep as you get older, maybe I'll be down to 2 hours a day by the time I'm 50, eh? :D  :D

Could it be there's more than just a couple?(And you might not know about them :D) :D

Oh well you are all here so i guess you are not sleep typing! I find if you dreamed heavily you are more tired. I never have good dreams, always bad ones but it's maybe a mental release as long as they don't haunt you in the day eh?
