Stunt Double

I picked up Belly of the Beast on DVD at the ol' video store the other day, and watch it, and was quite pleased to say the least. But I was curious about one thing, and I was wondering if anybody had any idea about this: who the hell is Seagal's stunt-double (you know, the guy doing all those kicks and aerials and whatnot)? I'm just curious if there's a story behind this agile stunt-guy; for example, do he and Seagal go way back, what other work has stunt guy done, etc. Any info would be appreciated.

Do you have a slow button on your machine crawl it on the credits it should tell you it usually says stunts for Mr. Seagal and then the name try getting past the names in Thailand everybody has nicknames ever see their real ones oh my..20 characters long. and thats just the last name. credits are extensive on that one and OFAK , cause of Special effects, but to me it didnt take away from the movie a bit. I loved it, had ye ole ponytail back, great!

Aight, awesome, great idea. I thought of trying that myself, but like you said, damned if I could get past the massive list of god knows who. And yes, the pony tail is classic Seagal. It's as if he has regained his power now that it has returned, or something like that.

There seemed to be a few stunt doubles. You get some good clear shots if you press pause on your DVD player. :D

Seagal and his ponytail go together like crackers and cheese. I prefer that look on him, whether it's in fashion or not.(Come back MFD). All stars have stunt doubles,no big deal.

I was dissapointed that SEAGAL used that stunt double for those kicks, kicking aint his style so why do it? He is too talented to use stunt doubles, computers, and wires to perform his great expertise in Aikido. Seagal back off with the computer and wire work it is hurting your movies and fight scenes.

I just watched Hard To Kill today and then Belly Of The Best. Come on Seagal wires and computer effects is hurting the Martial Arts in movies, while they prosper with the profit they are making, the are loosing the philosophy, and true techniques.

I liked the movie

I thought they played down the wire a lot this time and since I really do not care for that effect the over all effect pleased me.. As for the stunts I thought they were good and Steven shouldn't be expected to do everything forever. I was just glad they did a good story and put it together well.

Wires????
Oh! Please! Don't insult my intelligence.
Wires turn a plausible situation into a fairy tale! A very good
example would be someone like Jet Li!!
People are not birds, they cannot indivdually fly through the air.
Practically every Chinese or Japanese Martial Arts film that I've
seen has the "actors" flying up in the air and fighting each other.
I think they may be in dire need of an exorcist. They surely must
be possessed by something!
Although I loved seeing Steven back on screen, even it is on STV,
I believe it deminishes his art. He is far, far too well trained in Aikido
and the other Martial Arts to allow this to go on.
But then, perhaps, he didn't have the "control" required to do as
he wanted to do!!
He's still the best Martial Artist in motion pictures!!!
Just my opinion!!
God bless,

Steven Seagal Fan
I think Steven is one of the greatest action actors around. Sometimes actors need the wires but in Steven's case I still think he can do most of the fighting without.

About his double I would like to see a picture of him. I agree with voetballcaine and would really like to know if they are or have been friends.

Hallarian I to am glad that they put a good story line to BOTB.

I hope that Steven next movies will be as good as BOTB.

The double's were very good. I think it was a job well done, and very hard to detect. I am sure as anyone about Steven's skills, no doubt that he is amazing, and his fighting beyond compare, but something's are just mot possible without the wires, like the flying through the air stunts. Of course those might be the double's doing that too...I enjoyed those parts too, but that was just me. I think Steven is awesome, and I know he's more capable in his art that just about anyone. Also think the ponytail looks wonderful, it's always been his trademark. I hope he keeps the look.

Hehehehe!!! Purple, I spend my time just looking for him.
If there is a "double" the next scene it's him and for me that's
all that matters.

It's more frizzy - at least, it is in the Out of Reach pictures Suzi posted.

I had this sudden urge to apply shampoo, scissors and a comb - and no, that is not an off-topic post, it's just my obsessive-compulsive nature regarding neatly coiffed hair that is asserting itself! :D

I think he's not applying the pomade he usually puts on the sides - just on the sides! - of his head the way he used to.

I personally didn't think the stunt doubles were nearly as obvious in Belly as they were in the last few movies, especially Out for a Kill. Yeah, you knew, but in my opinion, you can usually tell in most scenes in every movie these days, even with top-name younger stars, where there's a double in for them. Just too risky financially, I suppose, for the $20 million stars to do their own stunts, even if they could.

As far as his ponytail, truthfully, there were very few "sharp" close-ups of that to even begin to tell what kind of shape it was in, or even his face, for that matter. Lots of shadowy, soft lighting on many of the close-ups. Still, still close enough to tell he's still got it! :D

I neglected to notice something as far as the pony-tail goes...did he have a mullet again? Cuz Seagal used to have that classic greasy-ass mullet thing going on, and I don't quite remember if it was back with a flaming vengeance or not.

My pony tail is still pretty close to how Seagal had it in Fire Down Below!Perahps I should now go all frizzy?!Would be interesting to hear your comments.
