I think the main thing to remember is, this is just some guy's opinion. He's just a regular schmo, like any one of us. Just as I would not let the opinion of anyone here or a friend or family member influence my decision or judgment in viewing a movie, I certainly wouldn't let some stranger out there in cyber space, with no more qualifications than me, sway me one way or the other.

I do not blindly worship Steven Seagal, nor am I madly in love him with him. I do read everything I can find about him, good or bad. It's never changed my opinion of the man, or my respect or admiration for him. Or my enjoyment of his movies. I'm still looking forward to Out of Reach as much as ever. Reading this hasn't changed that one bit.

Just THIS guy's opinion. ;)
Er....girl's opinion. :D

Thanks, Kat. :) Actually, though, I was still writing mine when you posted yours. I'm just more long-winded than you and it took me longer. :D

There probably is nothing wrong. He is 53 years old, and honestly, i think its admirable he is able to do any action at all at this age. Of course he isn't going to look like Nico Toscani or Mason Storm anymore, that was 15 years ago. I dont know if he has a drinking problem, but if he does, I hope he stops. In terms of his weight, it changes a lot. He lost a lot of weight for Exit Wounds gained it back for 'Half Past Dead", lost some for "The Foreigner", kept it about the same for OFAK and Belly of the Beast, and looked good in mountain dew. Of course, im no expert, it cant be healthy to fluctuate body mass like that. Im sure hell look good for US3!

If something is wrong Seagal, dont worry, you've been through the fires before. Your a true star, never forget your fans always support you!!

Very well said, Reservoir Dog! I like the way you think, and I find myself agreeing with many of your posts.

Except I actually like The Patriot a lot. ;)
Ah, well. Can't agree all the time, eh? :D

....... but man he looks scary in this opening scene. I swear to to Christ's Jesus he looks like Bigfoot wearing a bad Dracula wig with a mullet in the back.

That made me laugh.

Also Vern has registered for the forum and says he will be popping in to defend his opinion on this movie. No need to 'insult' him for his review.

Well that's just swell. My hopes to see another movie as good as BOTB this summer have just about diminished totally. I'm sure I'll still rent it but I'm not going to have high expectations. I really hate to see things like OFAK and TF coming out in the future. I'd rather just enjoy some of his other movies (yes, The Patriot and Ticker are included). Ever since I seen TF I have rented all his new movies (OFAK & BOTB) before buying and I seems to me that this is a safe pattern to follow. Though, I was hoping that after releasing something as KooL as BOTB things would be well. The KooL thing is that this comes out one week before I go on my cruise this summer. Obviously I was meant to see it when it comes out.

Again it's your own egos that don't let you just enjoy the movie...Why must you have such a hard time with what HE is doing...I wouldn't blame him if he was sick and tired and wanting to retire because everyone seems to shoot it down before it even comes out! I just can't understand that, it makes no sense...I am fed up with such an unappreciative attitude...Now, that's probably my ego talking as well, but I just can't understand the rush to put down something we haven't experience...I am trying so hard to stay positive and this idiotic review and some of the comments here, just piss me off to no end...Sigh...

ok, Kat....But he works very hard, and I don't think it's been easy for him lately, so I feel we should be more supportive...Especially since this guy off the net was taking shots at stupid things that don't make a damn bit of difference to what kind of man he is...That is just it, no-one knows him like we do, so they should just shut their mouths...They can give an honest opinion without insulting him...What if he's got a medical problem which makes his hair fall out? I think I do, so it wouldn't matter to me if he did...I love him for the man he is, not for what he's got, sure I like his looks, but
I love him for him...The good with the bad, and I am not saying I see anything bad,
I don't look at it that way...And that goes for his money too, I'd love him even if he was poor...I know some of you don't believe that, and frankly I don't really care...Steven will know how I feel, if we ever do meet...I'll be giddy and probably be hanging on his leg...:D But I know that may never happen, I just really hope he is ok...

physical appearence....That is like a low blow to him.....kat

Another example of my threads creating conflict. Cmon guys, dont be upset. It got a bad review, so what? It could very well be a bad movie. I think Vern from "aintitcool" reviewed belly of the beast, and he didnt like that either. And it was pretty good, wasnt it? Dont trust vern, hes always hating on Seagal's newer films. I also dont know why he has to direspect him while reviewing the film. If the film is not a good one, ok, but dont out right insult Seagal just for laughs from non fans. I dont know why he reviews them anyway, he isnt going to like it, and most non-seagal fans wont either. Direct to video films are an acquired taste. I hate the Foreigner, got a little more interested in OFAK, and really enjoyed Belly of the Beast. I dont feel the need to buy all of Seagal's films, no, mainly because some of them are truly not entertaining for me. But for those of you who do, thats cool, too.

Just remember, this is not his final film. He's got a lot more in pre-production, and Under Siege 3 is getting more likely every day. Plus, that new comedy announced and "Into the Sun" heading to theatres. If you dont like Direct to Video films, then maybe this will be good for you. Steven's not done yet, so dont base everything on one of the many upcoming releases.

Yes, maybe I do expect too much from a movie. It's not like anybody could pull off what was done in OFAK or TF. There was high points in both movies. I still own The Foreigner and think about OFAK. It's just that they are hard to watch. Interesting that the same guy wrote a bad review for belly of the beast. That movie was quite enjoyable. My fingers are crossed for all his future releases. Hopefully they will all be released and they will all be good.
