Steven Seagal Injured on Set of Latest Film
Warner Bros. has confirmed reports that martial-arts superstar Steven Seagal was injured on the set of his latest film, Zero Density, late Monday morning. The injury report filed by the paramedic team on the scene indicated that Seagal was in the middle of an elaborately choreographed fight scene pitting the aikido star against seven men.
According to stunt coordinator Nick Dunn, Seagal was supposed to pin one of the attackers in an arm lock and execute one of his trademark stylistic, lightning-quick aikido combos to dispose of two more simultaneously. The scene went horribly wrong when Seagal mistakenly took his own arm and broke it in four places.
“We had Jim come at him with a pool cue from behind,” Dunn narrated, “while Jared came at him from the front with a switchblade. Steven originally called for a ‘kosadori’ hold but things went down so fast, their arms sort of got entangled and I think Steven just grabbed the first arm he saw.”
With Seagal out anywhere from six to eight weeks, production on Zero Density has been put on halt until further notice. When news of the unfortunate incident reached Seagal’s agent, Dan Weisenberg, he simply shook his head in incredulity muttering “Not again.”
