What would be your ideal Seagal movie?

I personally would like to see him shoot a movie back in the states, or somewhere other than the whole Asia/Eastern Europe thing. I get tired of seeing strange cars, people, surroundings. Same goes for other movies as well.

Get rid of the whole mysterious, ex-CIA/government agent, looking for revenge thing, we need something fresh. I would like something unique, that doesn't have a cheesy or unbelievable story attached to it. Exit Wounds and Today You Die had their quirks, but they were a nice change of pace from the usual stuff.

Must have lots of hand-to-hand combat, by Steven himself. Gunfights are also welcome, but they just aren't as cool as actual fight scenes.

And, as usual, cut down on the (obvious) body doubles, voice dubbing, you know, the whole 9 yards.

Above The Law
The ideal Seagal movie has already been done for me. They were: Above The Law, Hard To Kill, Marked For Death, Out For Justice, Under Siege, Under Siege 2, The Glimmer Man, and Fire Down Below.

Precisely, I agree with everything you've sayed!!!!
But it's also cool if Steven Seagal will be hunted in the wouds/jungle or something, and that Steven Seagal will finish them all with hand-to-hand combat in the end of the movie!!!!

Well, there could be a number of ways that Steven Seagal might go with his movies, and I have to admit that I get a hell of a kick out of all of his movies, even the really bad ones, but there are a couple of things that I'd like to see.

The biggest one would have to be a really good script. While it's certainly fun to laugh at the weirdness and near-incomprehensibility of movies like Out For A Kill and Black Dawn, it would still be nice to see Seagal in a clever and original story. There is such a thing as an intelligent action film, even if they're kind of rare.

Then, of course, I think it would be cool to see Seagal do some more work in Japan, particularly if he could work with some of the better production companies and more established directors. Shusuke Kaneko already worked with Seagal's daughter on the Gamera movies, so that might be an interesting pairing.

Failing that, it would be interesting to see what Bauer Martinez Studios would do with a Seagal project. After all, this is the company that made Wake of Death and The Defender. Of course, they're also the company that made Number One Girl, so they're obviously not bullet-proof, but we're still talking about one of the more promising straight-to-video companies.

And one of my main hopes looks like it's about to become a reality: Seagal in the director's chair again. If Prince of Pistols lives up to its potential, then it could be the next On Deadly Ground. On Deadly Ground, I think, is really just about ready to be rediscovered by the public, especially now that its influence can be seen so clearly in the new Al Gore movie.

ideas

Ive had my ideas for good Seagal movies for awhile now.

1. On The Hunt

The movie starts out with a group of twelve rich business men that are out hunting. They run into a an elk and the elk's family and they kill them all except they leave the Elk barely alive. A mountain man ( Who is also a witch) finds the Elk and takes him back to his cabin and nurses him back to health. The mountain man can feel the Elk's pain so he casts a spell on the Elk so that the Elk can get revenge. The Elk is then transformed into Steven Seagal. Seagal then hunts down each business man one by one and kills them until there are only three business men left. Seagal finds out that these three last buisness men are out hunting.....so Seagal goes on the hunt!!!!

2. Freedom Fighter

Steven Seagal is a scientist/ ex CIA operative, that has just created the first ever time machine. Seagal's plan is to use the time machine to go back and stop his mother from being killed thirty years earlier...but there is a malfunction and instead is accidently sent back to the Revolutionary War where Seagal must not only fight for his life...but also for freedom.

3.Intergallactic Revenge

The world is destroyed by an Unknown Alien race....but they have one problem....Steven Seagal survived. Seagal is the last remaining human alive in the universe and he is pissed. When Seagal finds out that earth was destroyed by an Alien Race that is now scattered all over the universe he must travel from planet to planet destroying anyone or anything that gets in his way for revenge.

Seagal movie...

This was an old post, but this would be my ideal movie.

I totally agree that he should get back to the states!

The Master
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a thought...

...Saw 'The Man' on the Biography Channel the other night. Only confirmed what I think we all know, he IS the best! Very insightful documentary showing a side of him that is rarely seen. He came across as very caring, warm and funny.

During the programme it showed him with an old Aikido master and they both spoke of their times together in Japan. It also mentioned that 'Into The Sun' was his first film in Japan. What would make a corkin' film would be
'The Master'. It would follow his character returning form America to Japan to open up a dojo in a suburb of Japan and the ensuing troubles becoming accepted (immitating what happened to Steven in real life). The film would truly showcase his Aikido skills and make for some memorable on-screen fights. Directed with passion and flair (maybe by himself) it would show the beauty of Japan and the beauty of his art. In my mind it would put him back on the map, go back to his grass roots where he excels!

Please snap this idea up Hollywood, let's have him back on top!

Yours in Budo

All good choices. I have all of Seagal's movies, and I love them all, but one of my personal favorites is The Glimmer Man...interesting story, great fight scenes, a lil bit of comedy, decent actors, etc... Now, if they could just use this same formula with the newer movies, then we might have a winner.

Like everybody, I would like to see him back in the theaters with a bigger budget movie. That would prolly ease most of our complaints about the bad acting, directing, editing, writing, etc... Seems like the last few movies were half @ssed, and Seagal didn't really seem into them. Where is the cockyness and one-liners that we all love?

Some ideas I've been tossing about:

He owns a club or business, and some mafia members wanna take control of it, he resists, and all he!! breaks loose...wait a minute...I think something like this actually happened to him in real life.

A Karate Kid type movie - He's a master, teaching his students Akido, one of his students gets into some trouble with some bad people that threaten his life...he takes matters into his own hands.

Hang on an minute what about our home land..Australia has alot to offer him and i think the out back would be an great place to make an movie..dont you think?..

I'm not quite sure what's my ideal Seagal movie would be but I have been pitching in some ideas of what I actually would like to see from Seagal.

Here it is...

perhaps this one would be called Dark Glimmer. Sounds like a fitting title for Seagal's movie to bring back the freshness and goodness of his old times. It would be a perfect movie as his last movie if he decides to end his career then this one should be a movie that ends his career with a high note.

I haven't pulled out enough ideas for everything yet but there are some good stuffs to throw in.

What I came up so far especially in the opening sequence where the camera would move up toward a small lamp on a table then swivels toward a man sitting in completely darkness area. The room is completely isolated and has full of grayish color on the wall. Then two of the guards bring in a man and forces him to sit down on the chair opposite of where the another man is sitting at. The camera moves and rotates slowly at 2 or 3 different frames around the man sitting in the darkness but you still don't see his face. First line that he says, "Jeffrey Peyton...where is Louis Nuther? If you don't tell me then I will take your spine and burn it including your father!" Jeffrey says, "I don't know where to find him but I promise you that I'll find him for you." as he sounds like he's begging him to not kill him. Then he continues, "Why are you doing this, may I ask?" The man says, "I don't think you need to know because I'm doing my business and you are doing your own business so I'm expecting you to do what you're told or you're running out of your life. Take it or you will disappear. So drink the water, please." Jeffrey drinks the water then he passes out. Everything goes into black then the next thing opens with Jeffrey laying down in a cell but he awakes slowly because he keeps hearing door squeaking noise then he sits up slowly and stands up. He walks toward the door and puzzles as he looks out in a hallway. He is not sure where he is at so he starts walking quickly to find a way out and to find his friend- Louis. He starts running and take down guys while running in the hallway each time when he sees one. At last, he finds a door and kicks the door. His face expression goes into a shock because he realizes where he is at. He is at a large ship, a ship that carrys heavy supplies and shippments and also the ship is already traveling on a sea. So he starts running down the stairs outside and keeps running like he's frantic and pissed at the same time. He finds another door and opens it. When the door opens, the camera moves in a fast speed toward a man who is hanging with a chain around his neck and that man is Louis. Jeffrey says, "What the h***?" Then he runs toward him and shoots a bullet at a man who is guarding Louis then he tries to find a way to break the chain in a short time and he finally broke the chain to save Louis' life. Both of them lay down after being so stressful then the man shows up then says, "I see that you found Louis and I'm taking your life." and he hits both of them. Everything goes into black after both of them being hit. The credits begins to roll. After it ends, the camera moves toward a car light when the car is parking at the side of a street then the camera moves toward the front left door but at the same time it is at the street as we see a person's feet getting out from the door and swivels slowly then moves up to the back of the person's hair, we see a nicely done combined ponytail (similar to what Seagal had in Out for Justice) then the camera turns toward the man's face and it is Seagal. He is Jeffrey's father named (whatever name is). His face changes into a furious and worried look because he gets a call from his police department to investigate the incident down at the disposal dump place since the owner reported that he discovered a dead body and it is Louis's. So Seagal knew something is going on because he's aware that his son- Jeff has been kidnapped but he doesn't know the reason. So he goes off on a killing spree to find out why things have been happening and to find his son and bring him home for good and safe after not seeing him in long time after he left the family when Jeff was born.

Jeff is the kind of character who has been doing things at wrong places at the wrong time but he is ferious at people for his life being ruined after his father left the family and he hasn't seen his father yet.

So we may see a different side of Seagal in this one, his character would be something like that he doesn't care for his family but to himself. When he encounters Jeff in the middle of story, we will see both of them argue a lot and hate each other for what they've done. One thing that both of them try to forgive to love each other and that will happen to make an impact of their relationships after what they're going through.

Maybe it is something different that we see from an usual Seagal movie because we'll be seeing a bad side of Seagal's character of being careless and stubborn. I thought it'd be really interesting because it needs some good deal of emotional moments and stuff.

A big budget action movie directed by Richard Donner, Walter Hill, John McTiernan, even Andrew Davies again. With a great plot, script, cast, Steven in the shape of Exit Wounds but with muscle training and a lot of Aikido, hand to hand fights, espectacular explosions and beliavable gunfights.

In few words: The logical next step he must take after Exit Wounds

J.J. Abrams would be a nice and interesting choice. He can pull things off to make it one of wildiest adrenaline rush movie in a while. He would able to pull off several good hand to hand combats and wild chase sequences.

In too deep

This is a story I've had for a long time already, and even tried to "give" it to a couple of studio with signing over my rights to the story. But since I can not afford an attorney, and all studios only do business when you have a legal representative, they wouldn't take it.

"In too deep"

The story is set in the future and the scenery is a mix between Blade Runner and Coruscant (Star Wars EP I,II,III).

The maffia controls everything and Seagal is a deep undercover who may have been in too long.

When the maffia makes a hit on a police station, one cop (originally written for Schwarzenegger) wants to take revenge and comes into conflict with Seagal.

After a few collisions Arnold discovers that Seagal is a covert agent and realizes that he is the key to get the maffia down.

Slowly he can convince Seagal he is still one of the good guys and together they go after the Godfather.

Maybe later in the week I'll be able to scan the screenplay (just a teaser) and will post the complete one here.

Peace

I'd like to see a Wild Bunch, Magnificent Seven kind of western starring Seagal alongside other action men like Dolph Lundgren, Van Damme, Wesley SNipes, Mark Dacascos with Chuck Norris as the kind of old wise man. Just have a coming together of all the top DTV guys as a group of cowboys on some kind of mission. I'm only saying this cause I saw the Wild Bunch for the first time yesderday and it was superb, completely where John Woo gets a lot of his inspiration. That would be cool. They should makje the ulitmate B action film. It would make loads of money. There may be a clashing of ego's though, mainly from Seagal and Van Damme, who havew lready done that years ago when they were both courted for Demolition Man, but neither one wanted to be the bad guy.

Well, if we're pitching story ideas:

Travelling Man: Seagal plays a once-famous rock star, now reduced to playing small bars in Eastern Europe. When he finds out that his new manager is skimming money, Seagal cuts him loose, but this only serves to anger the thief's comrades in organized crime. Seagal is forced to defend himself against an army of Ukrainian mobsters while still trying to keep the tour going.

The Divine Kumite: A project to pair Seagal with another DTV action hero, preferably Van Damme. Both stars play contestants in the sort of illegal martial arts tournament that's typical in the action genre. No plot is needed, since the fights are the whole point of a project like this.

Deadly Company: The story of the Enron Corporation is retold in the form of an easy-to-understand action film. Seagal plays one of the company's best traders. When one of the guys from accounting mentions some irregularities to him, both of them get caught up in a sinister plot to defraud investors. They must stay one step ahead of the corporate hit squad that's trying to keep them from revealing their secrets to the financial press.

Direct To Video: In our story, a corrupt European production company tries to put together a DTV project starring Steven Seagal and Jean-Claude Van Damme, but they sabotage themselves with a restrictive budget and a psychotic director. In the end, Seagal and Van Damme learn that the company is using abused Romanian political prisoners as their extras, so they team up to take the villains down. The role of Joe Halpin is played by Dominique Vandenberg, the guy from Pit Fighter.

If you achieve to get film together Steven, Van Damme, Jet Li, Dolph, Chuck, Wesley and Dacascos in a movie I´ll pay you a dinner at the country you want, the restaurant you want.

It will rocks the house, even in DTV

It most defintely would. Unfortunately we'll probably never see a DTV action star team up, because producers don;t want to pay too much. We can dream though.
