"if you think the threads stupid just dont post..."

I don't think you understand! From your reply just now, it actually DOES sound like you are trying to promote this habit. This thread isn't just stupid, it's just irresponsible to continue.

And I'm proud of you for having made up your mind you will never pick up the habit! :)
I believe you're one person who will be able to stick with that, too! :D

Lollipop, from your other post and this one, I'd say you're one of the most courteous smokers I've heard of. :)
So looks like we can still take that cruise together, eh? ;) :D

I watched this rather lively debate unfold with great amusement in my purgatory! How it hurt me that I could not get involved! Amazing the arguments a simple topic about carbon vapour can cause. I have never smoked and never will. Smoking is a disgusting, anti-social, stinking, needless waste of time and money.

Hi Yudansha.

Don`t you have bad habits?
I think a lot of people strugel whit there smoking habit.
I lost my mother because she was smoking and yes it hurts.
I don`t think you must look at the smoking thing but at the people behind there smoke curtain.
I am a smoker also. And yes when i want to smoke, i go outside.'
I think America is the number one smoke haters. America introduce the Marlboro man!!!
it is very difficult to quit smoking and I know because i try it so many times.
Some time i wish i was a drug user. Then they help me much better.
I don`t think you must blame the smoking people but the goverment... they wanted us to smoke to get more money in there exchequer and now they talk that we cost al lot of money!!! What do they want??? I don`t know anymore...

I will quit again because my father has a stroke and my mother died on it...and i want to get older then her... But i don`t quit for people that ar complain their eyes are burn...Sorry...

there are old smokers anyway!LOL
:D :D :D However i think it's bad but I am not feeling guilty about it!
We are not perfect creatures therefore we are allowed a little fun!Sorry for having fun!
Drinking is dangerous too and most people on this website who criticize smoking are having a drink once in a while!
So why is smoking worse than drinking?
They are both lethal!

No don't say that Lollipop. That is Yudansha's personality, he always wants his opinion to be heard better yet above others. ;)

"Don`t you have bad habits?"

That depends on what you define as "bad." If bad is defined by a known long term health risk, then no, I don't have any bad habits. Otherwise, I'd be interested to know your definition.

For all of you who do not understand, let me say this again. My whole problem with this was that the thread creater was PROMOTING smoking as opposed to seeking advice. Such was energetically continued. And LD, if you have something to say, then say it!

"there are old smokers anyway"
- Ever heard of genetic predisposition?

"why is smoking worse than drinking?"
- Because that is what science tells us.

I am sorry to hear about your mother, Connie! :( And I hope your father improves from his stroke.

Good for you for trying to quit. :) Keep trying! There was a slogan here in the States for a while: Don't quit quitting! Good luck in your efforts, Connie. :)

Hi yudansha!
I find it strange when you say that it is science which tells us that smoking is worse than drinking!
Which science?Weird science?LOL!Just kidding!
However, there are lots of people who die from drinking too much ,I don't understand why drinking is less dangerous than smoking!
If you showed me spome scientific article in a medicine magazine maybe I'd
say you're right!
Plus if you smoke you can still drive your car!if you drink...It's more of a risky business to do so!
Peace!

"then why just stop at drinking?"

Eating is just as bad, too if you look at it that way! Look at North American overweight epidemic!!

Too much of ANYTHING is not good for you, and too much of anything in too little time is called toxic. Even water can be toxic. There are people who are allergic to water - which can actually be fatal if there is too much contact (e.g. taking a shower with plain water causes such people serious physical harm).

And why pick driving necessarily as the activity of choice while in the habit? Current studies suggest that second hand smoke is more dangerous than first hand. So, I can (not necessarily something I would do however) take serious offense if a person intentionally comes to stand near me and then lights up. Why not also discuss the use of cellphones? In that respect, you would have to tell me that cellphones and drinking are worse than cigarettes.

Wine in moderation has shown to be a "good thing" for circulation. Recently (in the last year or so) the same has been shown for beer (but I'm not sure how conclusive the data was and whether or not it was accepted as valid evidence).

Obsession about anything cannot be good for you.

A casual drink cannot hurt (by casually, I don't mean hard liquor on a daily basis), but can you find anybody that could safely tell you that smoking casually will not have you developing quite serious lung problems a decade later?

hello Yudansha;
Ok I understand your point!
Just one thing,I never smoke close to anyone!I smoke only at Home in a well
ventilated room where I am alone!
Besides I think I am going to quit smoking!you convinced me man!
Peace!

peace is good

Ok, Lonewolf, you have a plan of attack? :D Gum, patch, or turkey? :D (don't put a gum into a turkey)

Lonewolf

Semper Fi
No plan of attack!just my own free will!!!
I am not that addicted!I can stop whenever I want!
(it's what most smokers say!I know!LOL!)
If I do sport I can stop at once!I know it!
"Gum into a turkey!",Is that an expression,I don't know it but
it seems to have sexual overtones!Right?
Peace!

yudansha

TheGreatOne
lol no, it's not an expression

There are specialty gums and patches designed to help you with the nicotine need that frequently arises with smokers.

Quitting whenever you want is a 'method' also referred to as quitting "cold turkey." :D

Hey Yudansha - you seem like a knowledgeable and cool guy. Like you said - pretty much everything can kill you if you overdose on it. The water one is a good one, as you wouldn't think that ingesting too much water would harm you, but if it dilutes the salts that are naturally present in the body too much, then it can kill you! *Slurp*

Speaking of people who are allergic to water - I read recently that in the long term, taking showers may be bad for you, as breathing in tiny particles of manganese, which is naturally dissolved in the water can damage the central nervous system over time. This might explain the voices in my head which keep telling me to take more showers. Maybe I could design some kind of gas mask for wearing in the shower, which will prevent the manganese from killing me...

Wouldn't you just absorb it through your skin? Especially if you had a cut or something?
