I noticed no one seems to be going on vacation anymore, except Kathy. No one can seem to part from this site for a couple of days. :D
I wish it was that simple Julie. I was actually going to the lovely island of Jersey but have to cancel. It clashes with me going in. Maybe i'll get away end of Aug with luck, though not there. Depends how i am then.

A bit of heads up just in case...

It's not just the Middle-East that's not very safe ... European countries are full of disasters this summer due to weather which exhausts the workers and may lead to accidents...

Fire, explosions at electrical substation send smoke over downtown Madrid

MADRID, Spain (AP) - Explosions and a major fire at an electrical substation Thursday sent flames and acrid black smoke over downtown Madrid, and then foul-smelling, inky soot fell back to earth.

Firefighters sprayed water in powerful jets on the flames, while police evacuated nearby buildings and streets. No one was reported injured. An electricity outage swept through some downtown neighbourhoods, but within minutes power was restored to most except for the touristy area surrounding the blaze. The area includes museums, restaurants and Atocha train station.

"First, the lights went out" shortly after 1:30 p.m., said photographer Francisco Rubio, 47, standing on the broad tree-lined Paseo del Prado. "Then I saw the flames. Then I heard one explosion. About 10 minutes later, another. They were quite big."

The cause was not immediately identified by authorities. But a worker who had been installing generators for the private electrical utility Union Fenosa at the substation said they exploded when they were turned on.

"There were three generators" on the ground floor, Manuel Escalera Gonzalez told The Associated Press. He was in the basement when he heard three explosions.

"If we would have been on the ground floor, it would have killed us," he said.

Police cordoned off nearby streets and evacuated buildings threatened by the dense smoke, hot flames and possibly the presence of a nearby gas station that might be at risk if the fire spread.

My Vacation?

My vacation has already started, I have now joined the majority of my friends in unemployment. I however do have money, unlike them, lol!! My vacation involves swimming almost every single day, sun bathing, camping, drinking (once and a while) exercise and R&R. I'm already into my first week of nothingness and it's fantastic. :D

You call swimming, sun bathing, camping (which I love!), drinking and exercise "nothingness"?
Sounds like a blast to me! :D

I guess not, it does count as something, but it is a vacation and I don't want to beat myself out, I just want to have fun and relax, and all those things I listed help me do just that. I'm just sooo happy not to be working and join the rest of the jobless :D

It wasn't really a vacation ... more like a trip...

... a long CAR trip!!! :D

So ... we went and roamed around for 10 hours at and around Niagara Falls... I'm evenly tanned now :D (my left arm used to be darker since when I drive I have it at the window and the sun hits it much more ... it gets amusing when going to the gym and doing curls :D)

That's excellent, yudansha! It's beautiful, isn't it? But just 10 hours? Did you take the Maid of the Mist? Go behind the falls through the cave? Take the elevator down and walk along the water? Ride the cable car?

No cable cars...

... but all that other stuff for sure...
Next time, it's going to be that helicopter ride! (... and next time, I'll ask to drive that boat myself :D)

10 hours was plenty enough :) (the first time we went there, we spent the whole day ... in the evening you see a big light show of the falls ... but this was a long weekend so that created HUGE traffic...)
