I love animals very much. The world that we live at present days is lost in wars and attempts..really a shame, and the animals are a wonderful exemple to the human beings. They show to us that is possible to live in harmony. I work with aircrafts and I see how intelligent are the humans to put them to fly, however... apart of this I care some animals and train dogs to my friend, Doc. Camilla owner of a famous Veterinary Clinic here in São Paulo, and I wonder how clever they are, living in a superior way than a lot of persons. Unfortunately we can do this comparison, but I think that... the animals just reign. You can be sure about this, if you watch a wonderful movie: Chatran's Adventures, in a Wood of Japan where you will enjoy animal's life and the harmony that they live. A story of a dog and a cat(Chatran). The most amazing film that I saw! Unforgetable !

Well, below you can see a very good exemple of harmony between animals: Two inseparable "pets" LOL, they belong to Mrs. Lynda's pond (my mother-in-law):). She says that they are always together !! Amazing !! the another pics you can observe how friendly the animals are, since the small one to the Jungle's king. I mean Lion King, LOL :D. If they can live like that, why not the humans? A question just to think about !!!!!

In French, we use the same word for "reign/rule" and "kingdom".
You wish the animal kingdom would reign, Isa...? ;-)

I won't make myself popular for saying this, but I will any way <G>: to me, Man belongs to the Animal kingdom... I consider myself as an animal - I am not mineral, not vegetable (although one might wonder at times <G>), therefore I am *animal*.

Some will object that man can think - animals can too - and talk - animals do too, we're just too dumb, usually, to understand their language... and I'm pretty sure most dogs understand their "owners" much better than the "owners" understand *them* - and build things - lots of animals also do - and learn - all animals can also. What else is there, that would make us "superior"...? Oh, Man has a soul...! I believe all Animals do. What else...?

We *think* we are superior, for some reason that is beyond my understanding. In my view, thinking in terms of inferiority and superiority is not showing intelligence, to start with... Real superiority would be to show more virtue than the "inferior" can... whereas we do things that are infinitely more base/petty than any other species would do, truly despicable things that no other animal would do... I've seen cats "playing" with mice, that is sweet and gentle compared to what man can do to defenceless beings - including their own progeny... I know how controversed PETA is, but view just a few of the videos on their website and tell me about man's "superiority"... If that is being superior, then please call me inferior - I shall feel honored.

But, whether you agree with me that man is an animal or not, it is Man's rule here, on this Planet, and depending on what you let your eye rest on, what it looks like is the rule of terror.

We are like animals in general: capable of the worst as well as the best... the difference - and *problem*... - is, our "worst" is much worse than theirs.

Who said this...: "When a man has pity on all living creatures then only is he noble"...? This World surely needs more Noble Men...

Great pictures, everyone!

More animals in the news. :)

1) Cody, a terrier, on the left and Casey, a s.h.i.t.zu (auto-censor :D), model outfits by E&E Hallstrom Haute Couture, a high-end clothing company for dogs Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in Hartsdale, N.Y.

2) (Some people have more money than sense. :D) Model Lady Isabella Hervey walks her dog Cleo, wearing diamonds worth 15,000 pounds (US$ 27,000: 21,750) at a charity fashion show in aid of dog welfare in London, Wednesday Oct.27, 2004. The diamonds are part of a stunning range of dog accessories to go on sale at Harrods, one of London's top department stores.

3) A polar bear at the San Diego Zoo gets into the Halloween spirit as he plays with a pumpkin Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at the Zoo's Polar Bear Plunge. Kalluk, a 735-pound sub-adult male bear pounced on, tackled and hugged the large plastic jack-o-lantern which provided him hours of amusement.

4) Minerva Katherine Warren, a Miniature Schnauzer, appears as a ballerina at a Halloween party for dogs at Biscuits and Bath, a provider of dog care services on the Upper East Side of New York, October 26, 2004. Dogs and owners enjoyed gourmet treats and had their pictures taken in a simulated pumpkin patch.

5) Augustine Monk Frederic poses with a St. Bernard at the Grand St. Bernard pass on the border between Switzerland and Italy, October 5, 2004. Switzerland's St. Bernard rescue dogs, known for centuries for saving avalanche victims from snowy Alpine graves, are to be sold by their monk owners as helicopters and heat sensors take over their work.

Geez someone could kidnap the dog just for the jewels!

Good thing you told us that it was in halloween costume-I hadn't noticed the ballerina outfit.

Looks like that polar bear is having fun!I thought you meant a real pumpkin like I hear they give certain animals to play with.

Thanks Serena!

As far as I can remember, the monks have always sold St. Bernards. SB's "use" as avalanche dogs became more and more rare, as smaller and lighter dogs were preferred/"favored" for transportation reasons: in a helicopter, you can put 2 German shepherds in 1 SB's place...
But there will always be St.Bernards at the St.Bernard pass.

And should you go to Switzerland, have a stop over there...: the place is absolutely gorgeous.

All those pics are great, Serena!
Thank you very much for sharing.

Thanks for the info, Jampa! :) I just cut and paste the captions underneath the pics, so I was not aware of all that. I was in Switzerland a few years ago, but didn't make it to St. Bernard's Pass. But I would love another reason to back! ;) It was one of the most beautiful countries I have ever visited.

And you're welcome for the pics. :) Thank you!

Thanks for this pic, Jampa. Your daughter has the most beautiful eyes, as I've noticed in other pics. Very soulful. She'll be a charmer when she's older, eh? ;) Good luck, mom! :D
