There's been a little tension in the air lately, and I thought we could all use a little reminder about why many of us are here and what's really important, especially at this time of year.
I love you all, my friends. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Love,
Serena.

FRIENDS WITHOUT FACES
We sit and we type, and we stare at our screens.
We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam, through the threads in a maze,
Looking for something or someone, as we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other, we type all our woes.
Small groups we do form, and gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody, to type out our name.
We want recognition, but it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes flirt.
With PM's we chat deeply, and tell why we hurt.
We do form friendships--why we do not know.
But some of these friendships, will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen, we can be so bold,
Telling our secrets, that have never been told.
Why is it we share, the thoughts in our mind.
With those we can't see, as though we were blind.
The answer is simple, it is as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems, and need someone to tell.
We can't tell other people, but tell someone we must.
So we turn to the computer, and to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains.
They are Friends Without Faces, with odd little names.

SCREEN FRIENDS
I've had one of those days.
You know what I mean.
So I sit back and relax
and turn on my screen.
I'll talk to all my friends,
who know just what to say
to make my stresses go
and my troubles fade away.
My friends you're always here for me
whenever I feel blue,
and though we've never met before,
I know our friendship's true.
And although we haven't been friends for long,
in this short time it seems,
we shared so many things already--
our hopes, our fears, our dreams.
We come from different walks of life,
but we share a common bond,
and it's time to say that of all of you
I've grown so very fond.
So thank you friends for being here
whenever I've needed you.
I know you're always here for me,
and you know I'm here for you.

UNSEEN FRIEND
Although you all are friends of mine
and conversations we exchange,
I wouldn't know you on the street,
and doesn't that seem strange?
You hold a place within my life,
unusual and unique;
We share ideals and special dreams,
and still, we do not speak.
I picture what I think you are,
perhaps you picture me.
An intriguing game for all of us
for someone we can't see.
So for this friendship we possess,
we owe this forum a debt,
Perhaps the charm lies in the fact
that we have never met.
