I'm quitting this board. There's a kind of bigotry here that's too uncomfortable and the place isn't fun anymore. But must thank you for the pictures of the UP. I've printed them off to save. Bye!

Why Hallarian, we like you here. Tell us so we can work it out and talk to Craig about it..

Please don't go, Hallarian. I really don't want to see any more long-standing members feeling they have to leave because they're made to feel uncomfortable.

I haven't been around much lately, so I haven't had a lot of time to keep up with what's been happening. If there is anything that I can do to persuade you to change your mind, please let me know.

But don't go!

Well, what do you know! :D Looks like there's still a tiny bit of autumn left way up north. :)

1) Sturgeon River Gorge area. Picture taken yesterday, 10-25-2004.

2) A small inland lake near Silver Mountain, in Houghton County, in the U.P. of Michigan. This water level is low due to repairs being made on Prickett Dam. The note said if the water level was where it normally would be, the man standing in the bottom lower left-hand corner of the pic would be chest-deep in water. This picture was taken this morning.

Not a bad idea, Amos, and there's even a way to prevent any particular member's posts from ever showing up for you. It can be accessed through your user CP, under Miscellaneous, then the Buddy/Ignore list. You can set them up on the Ignore list so you never see a post from them. I don't think anyone really wants that option, though.

I believe the best way, if people aren't interested, or are closed-minded, or are easily offended or upset, is to completely stay out of religion and politics in these threads. We as moderators and administrators cannot starting picking and choosing which posts to delete and which posts to stay in, unless it's blatant and obvious trollism. You either have to leave them all in, leave them all out, or completely eliminate the option to even discuss religion or politics, which, I think most of us agree, would be censorship at its very worst. I don't believe anyone here wants to see that.

But I also think we all agree that a little more tolerance and respect for others' views and opinions--not just saying so, but actually showing such respect--could certainly help prevent unfortunate events such as this.

But you see, Tora, Hallarian was not making an issue out of it. She did not start a thread, threatening to leave, hoping people would beg her to stay, as several others have done in the past. That's not Hallarian's style--she has far too much class and grace. She was simply thanking me for the photos I've posted in this thread, as she used to live in this area, and enjoyed the beauty as I did. And I was quite appreciative that she would do that.

And, Tora, in all honesty, I can't see you leaving--or doing much of anything--without saying a word--or two! ;) :D

Not quite over yet! :) This is King Lake, near Covington, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The picture was taken just this morning, and with the early morning mist still hovering over the water, I think it's beautiful.

Great last pic. Sure is a pretty place.
Thank you, Storm! :) I thought that was a particularly lovely pic, myself. Wouldn't mind being stranded on that little island for a bit--with the right company, of course! :D
