Above The Law
Jean Claude Van Damme has a new movie coming out into theaters called JCVD

here is the trailer:

also he is signed to make Universal Soldier 3 which will also be released into theaters.

Is this a sign of the older generation of action starts coming back into theaters. Do you think Seagal will be next?

Ah, I can't wait to see this movie. Unlike some people on this forum, I really like Jean-Claude van Damme and his acting. I admit the accent can be hilarious, but the guy has some great facial expressions and has been in a lot of great movies (also the ones who are DTV aren't bad. I haven't seen all of them, but Wake Of Death and Until Death were awesome).

I absolutely want to see the original movie in French (with subtitles, my french isn't THAT good), not the fake English spoken version. Then again, if they hadn't voice dubbed this movie, I guess most people wouldn't want to see it anyway. Such a shame though, I like movies a lot better when watching them in the language in which they shot the movie.

Yes, I laughed at that part too. Not that's it's something extraordinary since Steven also cut his hair for Unders Siege and Exit Wounds.

US3 is a direct to DVD film...its being made by sony and the film has a 15M budget

no chance of hitting the cinema..also JCVD is only being shown in 3-4 select screens

Hi all,

I have just watched this film and i can say it does deserve to be on the big screen i watched the French version of this, and it is good to see him back and like littledragon says Universal soilder 3 is being released which i also hope will be a pretty good film.

Watch this if you are able to as it is a worthy film.

Watched this last night, good movie. Like the part about the Bulgarian/Romanian movies, wonder how much is true? Is it the actors fault they take these parts, or the agent, who seemed to get most of the blame here.

Hard To Kill
Loved it. Van Damme was excellent in it. I always thought he was a better actor than people gave him credit for and this film should gain him a lot of respect. It's a brave move to bite the DTV hand that feeds him but hopefully the good word of mouth this film is generating will see him getting better offers soon. I didn't mind the digs at Seagal either...most people who watch this would probably only remember Steven at the height of his fame when he mostly wore a ponytail anyway.

The movie is interesting.Van Damme acting is very good. It´s a self-criic, reflexion, nice one...

But this kind of stuff is not for Seagal. He opens his heart with the music, in his concerts.I wouldn´t like to watch Seagal in a film like JCVD.He hasn´t a past to regret or apologize as Van Damme or the superb Mickey Rourke.

The realistic way of Seagal will be the TV show Lawman

Disgruntled fan!
l loved it. It really was refreshingly different from the usual films being released. Van Damme was superb. It does not suprise me it's been a huge hit with critics and movie fans. Very highly rated.

Time listed Van Damme as the 2nd best performance of the year! He finished behind Heath Ledger.

Van Damme was also nominated as best actor at the Toronto Film awards, which is one of the best regarded ceremonys. He lost out to Mickey Rourke but that's no great shame considering Rourke is probably gonna walk away with most of the gongs this awards season. He is that good in it. For me JC gave one of the best performances of the year. A total shock, even considering recent improvement in DTV stuff like Until Death.

The director of JCVD is also one for the future. I loved his style and assurance. The opening sequence was brilliant, and the infamous monologue works well. Best of all the director wants to work with JC on a western in the near future.

Van Damme is retiring from DTV action movies for now. Once he gets US-3 out the way (contractual obligation, he has to do it, and it'll suck too), it'll be a totally different career path. Full Love (renamed The Eagles Path) is being finished as we speak, and JC reckons a trailer will be coming fairly soon. Early word is that it's very different and impressive by JC. He's also said there'll be a few surprises in the coming year. I hope he sticks to doing Indie flicks and European films mainly.

Well done to him. It shows Seagal the path he'll have to take if he wants respect for his own movie career. Though I don't think he's as passionate about acting as JC. Stevo has the music I suppose.

got to be honest i was not that keen on JCVD but i can see why the critics like it but dont ecpect seagal to go down that path and expect STV actions until his retirement in 5 years.

i had hoped that PW was a sign of things to come(ie a film with a good cast, good script and decent director) but hes just gone back to doing the typical STV action films

for me alot rests on ruslan
