Quote Of The Day

Mystery Mom

Queen of the Mist
If we could read the secret history of our enemies we should
find in each man's life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm
all hostility.

Is that Henry Longfellow Wadsworth? Or am I getting authors mixed up? I like that one, too!

Never Be Afraid to Be Yourself

"Nothing can excite the contempt of an educated European more than the continual fears and apprehensions in which even the 'most enlightened citizens' of the United States seem to live with the regard to their next neighbor, lest their actions, principles, opinions and beliefs should be condemned by their fellow creatures."

Francis Grund-German Aristocrat (Author of "Democracy In America")
(Friends with Harriet Martineau- a native English woman who was the FIRST Woman Sociologist, back in the 1800's-friends with Florence Nightengale- the Dutchy of Tuscany & First English Aristocrat Woman Nurse who was also the granddaughter of the abolitionist Will Smith; and friends with Alexis de Tocqueville- a French Sociologist who studied Social Systems, back in the 1800's).

Francis Grund was so right about his observations of American Society; even back then, in the 1800's. What he & Harriet Martineau both observed back then, in "Social Rules", are still believed and practiced, today.... So many people today, hid their tallents & gifts beneath the oppressive fears of "I can't say or do that...or I will be ostracized from mainstream society.... What will my family and friends think of me....Especially if I fail?...." I say, Never Be Afraid to Be Yourself and Follow your Heart in Reaching your Dreams or Achieving your goals!!! You Can Achieve, all you have to do is Believe and Never Give Up! Even in the face of great adversity, Never Give Up! Even in facing the doubts of others, Never Give Up! Even when facing the challenges of your everyday life, Never Give Up! Never Be Afraid to Be Yourself, You Can Achieve and You Can Succeed!

I know now, It is Henry Wodsworth Longfellow. I had it backwards... I knew I had heard that name before. He was the Poet who wrote "The Jewish Cemetery at Newport". He wrote about a Jewish cemetery he visitied, in Newport, Main (USA) - that has an iron fence around it, donated by Mr. Touro of New Orleans, Louisiana(USA). New Orleans is close to me....

Buddhist Proverb

"Whatever happiness is in the world has arisen from a wish for the welfare of others; Whatever misery there is has arisen from indulging selfishness."
A Buddhist Proverb

"View all problems as challenges. Look upon negativities that arise as opportunities to learn and grow. Don't run from them, condemn yourself, or bury your burden in saintly silence. You have a problem? Great. More grist for the mill. Rejoice, dive in and investigate."
Bhante Henepola Gunaratana-"Mindfulness in Plain English"

Daily Buddhist Wisdom

Drink deeply.
Live in Serenity and joy.
The Wise person delights in the Truth
And follows the law of the awakened.

The farmer channels water to his land.
The fletcher whittles his arrows.
And the carpenter turns his wood.
So the wise direct the mind.

Dhammapada, Translated by Thomas Byrom
(From Teachings of Buddah)

Flow with whatever may happen
and let your mind be free;
Stay centered by accepting whatever you are doing.
This is the ultimate.

Chung Tsu

So another words, it means if you try to live up to the expectation of what others think your goals and dreams should be, you loose; but if you achieve the goals and dreams that were meant for your purpose in life, in your intended timeing...then you win.... As in don't be a robot or pupet on a string, be the unique individual GOD made us to be. :indiffere Yes?

Everyone has the power to make others happy. Some do it by entering the room, others by leaving it.

Good Point, Myst! We can make a person happy by being there to visit with and help them. Then when we leave, continue to make them and others happy by helping them and continuing to Walk in Love, Peace, Joy, Understanding, Forgivness, Patience, Compassion and being considerate - Everwhere we go - Every day of the Week - instead of just living that way for one moment or once a week or only! Very Good Point! :)
