Seagal Interview In Thailand

Well, personally I supported what the US did in Iraq. Saddam and his sons and his regime was the closest thing any of us have seen to Hitler and his regime..If i heard it right- a lot of people defended him and denied a lot of what he did..(Hitler, that is).
Saddam was a terrorist and a supporter of terrorists and his sons were as evil as they come. There are many thousands of graves of those that support that view. Sooner or later(if he did'nt have it already) he would have gotten nuclear capability and what would the US have done then. They had big mouths before that and what they had and still have somewhere is more than enough reason to take down this evil regime before thousands more innocent lives were lost. All of the weapons of mass destruction that they had and was independently verified back in 1998 before the weapons inspectors were escorted out of Iraq was bad enough and I dont think anyone with common sense would say that he just destroyed all of those weapons and stopped making anymore after he was not being watched anymore..
What the US did and is still involved in doing was avoidable but Saddam chose another path and the US cannot just pullout now and let this killer back in charge..
What should the US have done-negotiate with this evil dictator and his sons who violated countless UN resolutions and laughed in the face of the international community..Can you imaging the US or England violating 17 or whatever it was, resolutions the way the Saddam did. The US definately dont need another president that just sits back and lets these terrorist groups flourish the way they did under Clinton. Bush may not be the smartest man in the world but at least he has common sense and like the saying goes-"Common sense ai'nt all that common anymore"..
Bottom line the US did what they had to do-what choice were they given.?

Well, without getting into a political argument with anyone here, I think Seagal Sensei is wiser than all of us when it comes to these matters and I would go with what he says. :)

Well, here's my 2 pence worth.
The US and UK were the only ones willing to make a stand when France, Germany and others were wringing their hands about the atrocities in Iraq. Where was our European community then? It may well have been about oil and the balance of power, espescially if they got a nuclear weapon.
We are now in a very difficult position. Our soldiers are still coming home in body bags, thanks to the people we were trying to protect. This will become like Northern Ireland and Vietnam, where it will be impossible to tell the enemy from civillians. I am starting to wonder if their sacrifice was worth it, as the guerilla backlash continues. If we leave them to it, Saddam or someone like him will emerge so it's a tough one. Maybe an international, neutral peacekeeping force would fare better. I would just say that when i see a howling mob of Iraquis confronting our troops you wonder who the enemy is?

From that article...
"My opinion, as a human being and as a Buddhist and as a military strategist"
And his qualifications as one are??

"While demonstrating his shooting skills for the Thai generals and anti-terrorist troops in Lopburi, Mr. Seagal told them: "When I come back in November, I'll bring some of my guns or something and show you some of my techniques." "
Er, that sounds rather big-headed. I'm sure their professional soldiers will learn a lot! Like all of us he needs to have his bad points highlighted as well as the good. As for his opinions on the war, i don't agree but he's entitled to an opinion.

Storm, I could be wrong on this but I think he's a documented weapons expert. "Military strategist" is a little more questionable, I agree.

But I do believe he's had at least some military experience in his life (unlike myself), not to mention that he's someone I respect, and at the ripe old age of 52 I bow to his wisdom.

If I was running a country I'd make Seagal my right hand man. :)

I've got to throw my two cents in here on a couple things.

1. Stop all this "war for oil" talk. If that was the case then we would have 'conquered' Kuwait the first time, and would have never pulled our resources out in '91 after round one.

2. On 911 19 men killed thousands of innocent people from a diversity of backgrounds and country's, not just Americans. Those 19 along with thousands of others were trained in 'active' terrorist camps in Afghanistan. This was not revenge; it was a calculated, direct, and most effective way to prevent another 911 from happening in the future.

3. Salmon Pak, Iraq. Heard of it? Search google for salmon pak and have fun reading about Hussein, his weapons of mass destruction, and the Boeing 707 that was parked in the complex and used to train agents in the ways of hijackings.

Seagal being a Buddhist naturally will renounce all aggressive military actions, I'd be surprised if he said anything else.

Before ripping America or our Allies any further for our actions since 911 please spend just a little time researching the entire situation from both sides of the court.

One last thought. American and British forces did have the gull to stand up and liberate an oppressed people that had tried for 25 years to overthrow Hussein but were unsuccessful. The result of these previous attempts caused the death of over 100,000 Iraqis for doing nothing other than standing up for what they believed in. Now we have eliminated the tyrant. Now it is up to the Iraqi people to get trained and rebuild Iraq as THEY see fit.
