Steven Seagal Question!

Im a very big fan, and i have all his movies on dvd. I love his acting, his style and so on.

But one thing i don't understand... Steven earn so much money at the moment because he has soooo much fans on the world who buy every dvd even if the movie isn't that good.

But why he never contact his fans through this board, or something like this?

I can't geht that... Because even Jerry Bruckheimer (he's a very sucessfull and hard working man) answers sometimes postings in his board or writes a letter to his fans...

Does someone knows why Steven Seagal don't do this?

Hofmae, we have had this question asked many times.... the fact is, he doesn't like his fans, he doesn't like interacting with us. He did, once upon a time, answer an aikido question in the previous version of his "official" website, and everyone went pretty much ape**** over it (did anyone from the old official site have the foresight to copy the text, I wonder?). But that board was unmoderated and a lot of unpleasantness occurred that would turn anybody off, and certainly didn't help with reinforcing the notion that his fans were on the whole, awful people he wouldn't waste the time of day with.

Simply put, he has no time for the fans who support him in the lifestyle to which he has become accustomed. It's a sad fact, but true.

We just have to live with it.

No, no one knows. I think the majority of movie stars do not respond to websites, although I know a few do.

First of all, I don't think most people would believe it's him. :D People tend to doubt it if someone comes on and says they even know him. Though I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, you can't believe everything you see on the internet--but I like to keep an open mind. :D

Another reason may be an incredibly busy schedule. When he's not filming in another country, he's often visiting cities around the world to support various charities. And then there's his music, which he seems to be very involved with lately. That surely must take up a great deal of his time. Not to mention his religious pursuits--it's my understanding that he devotes a few hours a day to meditation and prayer. And last, but not least, spending his precious little free time with his family. All in all, not a lot of free time left. :D

And, speaking only for myself, I don't feel he "owes" us that--coming here on the forum to speak to us. I joined here to discuss Steven, his movies and his life with fellow fans. In my opinion, he's *speaking* to us by continuing to make movies, write and record music, and helping with so many charitable causes.

Just my opinion, of course. ;) :D

With all due respect Aikilove, I must disagree. When uke grabs your fist and attacks (with 100% weight towards you, your center) you should FEEL this and NOT with your mind and thinking, "hey let's do a kote geashi". This might work to some extent, but it is not Ueshiba aikido. When you feel where the attacker (uke) goes towards you, you move with him (or her) and you might use any technique which your body (after lots of training) decides to use at that time, in which the whole just merely becomes a MOVEMENT, and the technique is a PART of that movement. When you ask someone who doesn't know a thing about aikido, if he witnessed the technique, he probably would reply, "what technique?, I only saw two people move!"
Mr. Seagal: THIS is a very important subject. What do you think of this?

Thanx.

-------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your interest and questions.

In answer to your Question, (if I understand it correctly), there are several different scenarios. In general it depends on the attack, i.e., if the attacker is flying at you quite rapidly as opposed being more stationary.

In my opinion, if the attacker is coming in rapidly, it is easier (and more appropriate) to use his movement and keep him moving into a position of his own neutralization. If he is mostly stationary, you (meaning ”Tori”) must move in and would have to do more of the “moving”.

In a more perfect world the attacker enters and the “Tori” uses the “Uke’s” mind and body momentum in order to enhance the timing, space, and place of least resistance.

This is, I think, what you are seeing most of the time in my films with particular respect to the “Kotegieshi”.

I hope this sheds some light on the subject.

Thank you-

In Oneness,

S.S.

I do not think Steven hates his fans at all, and I don't really think it's fair or respectful to say that. Just because he doesn't come here and do what some people want him to does not in any way, shape or form mean he *hates* his fans. I think that's an awfully strong word. I don't believe Steven *hates* any one or any thing. That's not what a Buddhist does. Again, just my opinion, of course.

And thank you for posting that question and answer, Suzi! :) It's been a while since I've read that, and I'm sure many of our new members never did see it.

1: Old rule in show business: a star is a star because he/she is unapproachable. Just like the stars on the sky.

2: I think the n+1 fans have n+1 kind of opinion. The star should not be infulenced by these. There always be people who like his movies, and there always be who not.

3: The way he handles the media and his fans is a part of his image.

No need to be sorry, Suzi. :) You're certainly entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine.
I just don't understand why people thinks he hates us simply because he doesn't comment on the forum.

Thanks for posting that question and answer I had not seen!! I don't think he hates anyone!!

And he may come here we don't know, there were 400 people here the other night!! Amos could be Steven! :D :D

I know one time a guy came and posted a picture and said it was him and Steven together and people posted all kinds of things mostly negative and not believing him in response, I think the guy deleted his picture and post and has not returned!

You never know what is actually going on out here! I am here because I do like the man and I do love the other fans who are here, it is great fun!!

Life is short, just enjoy what we have!! This site and all of you!!

Gee thanks Lollipop :) In exchange for autographs do I get food?

I think his busy schedule is a part of it.On his old official web site they had take questions from his fans & he answered 5. Why this has never been re-done is a good question because he can be anywhere in the world & be safe from his fans .....
I can't say why,but I can say that with all he does for charities etc..he would have more contact with his own web site

I'm convinced he doesn't like his fans because if he did, his movies would be better, and he'd put more effort into doing the best job he's capable of. Some might say he doesn't owe his fans anything, but I don't agree - it's his fans that made him. Apologising for his shortcomings doesn't do him any favours, and certainly doesn't do the fans any favours, either.

If a football star plays in a team that is weak, and suffers a lot of defeats, it means that the star doesn't like his fans?

No.

A movie is a team work, and if someone doesn't like the movie, :

1: a lot of people may still like it,
2: it doesn't mean that an actor didn't do his best
3: no way does it mean that an actor doesn't like his fans.

No actor in this world made movies that were loved by everyone.
