Steven Seagal's Double/Stunts

Seagal and Chuck

There's no way John Travolta and Robert De Niro are action stars Yudansha, action heroes are guys (sorry to be sexist but Cynthia Rothrock is a rare exeption) who usually star in action movies and Travolta and De Niro, though they've been in a few each, do drama more than they do action. With regard to Jackie Chan sure he's more successful than most but Seagal has outdone him box-office wise by a long shot. The only popular films he's done have been tired buddy-buddy films where the comedy has been so strong as to make them comedy more than they are action. His films have always been too comic and Seagal's films are much better for being closer to serious. Chuck Norris never got a mention before but since he's been brought up he's not as successful as Steven either - there still hasn't been a single name of a post-50 action star who is doing as well as The Master in sole starring roles, half of Chan's stuff is milked from his co-stars and all of his recent successes have been prior to him turning 50. Citing Travolta dn De Niro is just daft as they're not action heroes. Chuck had a few decent(ish) films in the 80's but he never earned the really big bucks as he doesn't have the presence or charisma as the big league guys. For every Delta Force there were five Silent Rages and Sidekicks. Damn that last film was bad.

insider's trading ... illegal

Steve do some research first before babbling on and on and on... Jackie Chan was a major hit in China before starting his American movies. Chan is one of the most powerful celebrities in Hollywood. He's got his own CHAIN of restaurants, his own REAL stunt team and production (that's way more successful at the moment). Seagal's restaurant went bankrupt (if you do some deep research into it ... you'll get some of that). Research my man ... please be familiar with that term.

When the sh1t hits the Chan.

Of course Jackie Chan was a big hit in China, he's Chinese. Any old film can be a big hit in China, Faces of Death which is supposed to be a serious documentary but is basically a compilation of crappy reconstructions so fake as to be laughable, was a bigger hit in China than Star Wars. I think that says a lot about the Chinese cinema-goers. I know very well Jackie has his own chain of restaurants and a stunt team, you hardly need to be a professional researcher to know these basics of his life. The fact of the matter is none of the nonsense you're coming out with has anything to do with my original point. I didn't mean the success of his life-story for crying out loud, I meant his overall box-office and no amount of yin and yen can compete with how successful Seagal's films have been. If you're so happy with Chan and so unhappy with Seagal I think you're on the wrong site.

A pet monkey LOL interesting ... do you happen to have one of those?

Jackie Chan's net worth is more than double that of Steven Seagal's. Now don't be stubborn and look into it more carefully before going off with your under 100 IQ at me.

I am a fan of Steven Seagal, and there's no doubt about it. Get your facts straight and come back. Otherwise I ain't arguing with you.

I Belong To Steven
Quit being such a smarty pants, Yudansha, no-one ever likes that...
Insulting someone's IQ is just rude...
I can't believe everyone here thinks they are so damn perfect...

Roger...

Lotussan you are obviously too lazy to read more posts. Something like: "I'm sure if your Daddy knew how stupid you were he'd trade you in for a pet monkey.". ... that I saw as a joke and replied with one, so take it as one.

If you don't like me you know where you can go... now you can take that as a joke too, but if you won't then I really don't care. Is that blunt enough?

I like Steven Seagal and that's all. If you want to treat him as he's your God to worship then go right ahead and I won't stop you, but stop insulting me. So many here are such hypocrites. You go and say not to insult someone and you turn right back and insult.

Go to a club or something, go laugh a little, go live a little. That's all from me, for now.

Seagal's net worth.

Go easy Yudansha, it doesn't cost anything to be nice to people. How do you know either Chan's or Seagal's net worth by the way, are you their own personal banker or something? I sincerely doubt Chan is worth more, he hasn't had half as many hits. Though he can dilly dance around like some kind of demented ballerina and have fight scenes which are more comic than realistic so who am I to argue. If Seagal is short-changed it's probably only the ghost of Le Brock unkindly running away with half his loot anyway. 1000 Jackie Chans wouldn't be worth one Steven Seagal.

I dont really understand what you guys are arguing about, but there is no question jackie chan is worth more
money.

Thats his filmography. He has had 10x as many hit movies as seagal, bruce lee, jet li, and chuck norris. I personally do not like his films, but there is no question he has had the most succesful career in terms of financial success than any other action star.

Arnie

Arnold Schwarzenegger:

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) $30,000,000
Collateral Damage (2002) $25,000,000
6th Day, The (2000) $25,000,000
End of Days (1999) $25,000,000
Batman & Robin (1997) $25,000,000
Jingle All the Way (1996) $20,000,000
Eraser (1996) $20,000,000
Junior (1994) $15,000,000
True Lies (1994) $15,000,000
Last Action Hero (1993) $15,000,000
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) $15 million
Kindergarten Cop (1990) $12,000,000
Terminator, The (1984) $75,000
Conan the Barbarian (1982) $250,000

Jackie Chan:

Rush Hour 2 (2001) $15,000,000+ gross points
Shanghai Noon (2000) $5,000,000
Hong faan kui (1995) $4,000,000

I think Arnie probably has a little more petty cash as an action star than Jackie to throw around.

I'm sure he has, he was always slightly further up the chain than Jean-Claude I felt. Van Damme always seemed to do better at the box-office with his sci-fi. I think Timecop remains his biggest hit though I've always been a fan of most of his stuff. His latest In Hell was very good and Wake of Death looks promising, a lot like Out For a Kill by the look of it but hopefully sans blue-screen at the airport shots. He seems to be maturing in his work a lot these days though hopefully the rumour that he's not going to do anymore helicopter kicks isn't true. Van Damme ditching his spin-kicks would be like Seagal ditching his pony-tail and trademark whisper.

well said. But that helicopter kick cant be easy. hes in his 40's, its prolly pretty hard to do. In some of his films you could tell he had a stunt double on some of those kicks himself.

For such excellent films Van Damme earned rather little...

LOL Ofcourse Arnold is worth more ... he's one of the richest action stars of all time. And Jackie Chan had a tonne of movies made in China that earned him alot of cash ... which is not mentioned on IMDB.

surprisingly ... Van Damme Salary:
Sudden Death (1995) $5,000,000
Street Fighter (1994) $6,200,000
Timecop (1994) $3,000,000
Hard Target (1993) $3,000,000
Universal Soldier (1992) $1,000,000
Death Warrant (1990) $70,000
Lionheart (1990) $70,000
Kickboxer (1989/I) $70,000
Cyborg (1989) $70,000
Black Eagle (1988) $70,000
Bloodsport (1988) $70,000

Yes but your forgetting the royalites from profits. Seagal's movies have been a lot more succesful overall. "Above the Law", "Hard to Kill", were succesful. and "under siege" had over "100 million" in international revenue. Try to see van damme beat that.

yudansha

TheGreatOne
calm boy calm :=))

Hey Dog you think I said that JC was more successful? I was showing that TimeCop was not the highest grossing Van Damme movie ... that's all.

Reservoir Dog

MRKD4DTH
Actually you were correct. Timecop is highest grossing. I think what you have there is Van Dammes salary for his movies. Timecop made most money, followed by I think Universal Soldier and Bloodsport.
