OMG, and I thought that was funny!

Anybody know the line just as he said it?

Holly:
"Sorry, Daddy!"

Dr. McClaren:
"Looks like you made a lot of mistakes over
there, girl. Now, just keep one thing in mind,
when you get it wrong, that's the part where
you take after your Mother. When you get
it right, you get it from me!"

God bless,

Did you see the music credits at the end of the movie? Because Steven tends to write his own music in his movies.

Does anybody know if he did the music for The Patriot??

Well, someone named Steve Edwards gets the credits at the beginning of the film. He is a bona fide composer, mostly of forgettable films (certainly none on his cv did I even recognize).

His approach to composing, in this instance, anyhow, is to echo other composers' more distinctive tunes. The opening sounds vaguely like Dances with Wolves; the cow roping bit is any western you can name (Silverado is the one that comes to mind) and the segue from the opening to the cow-roping is jarring; the music behind the helicopters landing in Ennis sounds suspiciously like Ride of the Valkyries; there's even a bit that sounds like the Klingon music from Star Trek!

No; in too many places I was jarred out of the movie by the inappropriate music, which was a pity, because the movie itself is a joy to watch (okay, now I want to go see Montana for myself!).

The Patriot and GlimmerMan have to be my fav. Seagal Flicks.

Interesting watching The Glimmerman on TBS and comparing it to the DVD. The bits that got chopped - talk about PC!

The line in the first scene where Campbell just meets Cole and answer him about the case with "other than they were all Catholic" was chopped. The fight in the restaurant where Cole goes to see Smith is limited to a couple of punches and throws (so you don't get to see him grab one attacker by the nuts, or himself getting punched in the gut) and therefore doesn't explain how the whole restaurant gets trashed; the fight scene with the Russian Mafia at the warehouse is similarly trimmed. The climax fight between Cole and Donald is also chopped (Donald getting his head bashed with the phone is absent, for example).

There's probably more, but I had to step away for a while, so I haven't rewound the tape yet to check what else was chopped.

I wish they had added the scenes where Campbell visits Jessica at the hospice, and then Jessica confronts Cole when she gets home to the DVD, though. Warner is pretty chintzy on adding extras to their DVDs, I guess.

TDWoj, don't be insulted by his "heffer" joke. That was a silly joke about animal sex (just like his friend on the other end of the phone joked about wanting to marry a horse). I think Seagal is the last person who would make fun of anyone's weight, especially given his own size now...

And the point of the "mother's side" joke was to show that Seagal and his wife didn't get along very well, i.e. a bitter separation. It was character development for the film, even though it was just a throwaway joke. Again I don't think he would say such a thing in in real life.

Well, I didn't think it was very funny - it was a put down of women as well as the absent wife, and as a character development moment, did not make the character likable at all, which was why it shocked me.

The heifer thing - yeah, I forgot about the horse joke earlier. The heifer reference just hit too close to a put down given me by a man, so that's why it bugged me!

I totally agree with you, TDWoj. I thought those jokes were put downs, and made the character unlikable.

Referencing Disciple's comment above, I never intended to say that Kelly LeBrock was raising the kids badly. The last thing I need is a liable suit against me! I don't even know these people! I was just paraphrasing comments that I read in an interview with Kelly LeBrock for a magazine years ago. And who knows if it is still true. Maybe they were just more protected when the kids were really young, especially since it was right after the divorce.

I'd be interested in seeing her "new face"!!! God, the old one was awesome -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I am sure she loves her children deeply, hope no-one thinks I was saying anything to the contrary, however there is a thing as being overprotective...Of course no-one should ever just take anything they read at face value...And the kids should get to do things with their father, why would she as someone said, get upset by them going to a movie with him? I admire her personally, and think she's gorgeous...I did notice that she looks different these days, but everone changes, she looks very well...

As for the comment about "you get it from me..." I think it was just a way to signify that holly's parents had likely divorced, that's all...It was a cocky statement true, but a way to develop the plot...

As for the heffer thing, I agree it might offend some women, but then again we have to remember it's a movie, and sensational things sell, boring does not...If anything Seagal packs a punch, and he's successful, what he does in the movies just has to be taken with a grain of salt, and we have to remember that just because it's done in the movie, does not mean he holds those views in real life...
