I see from the "upcoming Seagal movies on TV" listing that The Patriot is going to be showing on TBS SuperStation June 8, 11, 14 and 19. (Also The Glimmer Man is going to be on TBS as well, which I'm going to have to tape, even though I have the DVD, because of those two scenes not on the DVD).

This is very cool! I haven't seen The Patriot. I'd like to 'try it out' before I buy it sight unseen on DVD.

:)

Never seen The Patriot?.......see if you catch Seagal's daughter(Ayako) in it...
I think Seagal still lived there during the filming(outside of Cameron)...and you've probably seen the pics from the Montana Seminar...that was held on his ranch....there's also a pic/brief article in the Bozeman Newspaper showing Seagal leading the 4th of July parade down main street in Ennis(town in the film)

Oooh, very cool.

No, I've never seen The Patriot. I've never even seen a trailer for it, didn't know the film existed until I looked on the imdb.com (although interestingly, when you click on the link for it, it goes to a completely different film).

As for The Glimmer Man, yes, the tv version they show on TBS has two extra scenes in it that aren't on the DVD. Interestingly, the DVD is two sided- one has the widescreen version (122 minutes, Region 1) and the other side is the formatted for tv-screen version, but it's only 92 minutes. I should watch the formatted side, see what's missing (probably the fight scenes have been cut - I noticed that about the version I saw on TBS that got me started on the whole I love Steven Seagal thing a couple of months ago). Maybe the two extra scenes are on there? Although with thirty minutes cut from the film, I'm doubtful (although they were very short scenes).

I'm really looking forward to seeing The Patriot. His daughter is in it? Cool.

Thanks John and TD...Yes, his real daughter is in it briefly...I think he is just soooo charming in the Patriot...:) There is just something about the way he shows compassion for the animals and the way he is so sweet with little camilla the girl that plays his daugter in the film, it all just tugs at my heart...;) Such a caring man like that that loves animals and children, that just makes my me melt! He's so wonderful...What more could a girl ask for? :D

I don't have the Reg 1 DVD of TGM...maybe the extra 10 mts are the scenes put back in...don't know...has to be a reason why there's a 10mt difference....
OFJ has 2 extra scenes...TGM has 1..unless you've seen something I haven't...what are the 2 scenes in TGM you are referring to?

Scene 1 (not on 122 minute version on DVD): Campbell goes to the hospice where Jack's wife works, with Jack's mostly empty file, and confronts her, telling her Jack is under IA investigation, and wants to know more about Jack. She blows him off, saying if he wants to know more about Jack, he'll have to ask Jack.

Scene 2 (also not on 122 minute version on DVD): Scene in the Coles' home. Jack's wife comes in and says she's worried about him, how come he didn't tell her he was under IA investigation, and is he going to go 'all weird' like he did before.

They were both good scenes, and I was really surprised that they *weren't* on the DVD. But, as I say, I haven't watched the "formatted" side yet. And the formatted side has 30 minutes cut out of it, not 10.

I forgot to add, that the two scenes mentioned above appeared on the TBS Superstation version of it when it was on about a month ago, with, naturally, all the, um, colourful language carefully cleaned up.

Oh......ok....I considered that 1 extra scene because it ran together....unlike OFJ where the 2 extras appeared at different times in the film.....and your right about the 30-10mts...sorry...lol
must be a mis-print on the DVD then...

The Patriot........based on the book:

The Last Canadian
Heine, William C.
Markham, Have: Simon & Shuster, 1974.

One of the rare survivors of a plague which decimated North America flees with its family towards a camp of fishing in the north of Quebec before being found in full conflict between rival powers.

TDWoj -- when watching the Patriot, the scene with his daughter is when he is in his office (he is a doctor). His daughter plays the role of his receptionist. She has 2 really short lines in the movie.

I really enjoyed this movie a lot. I loved the scene where he is casually just making breakfast in the morning. It made you want to pull a chair up to the table and join in! Lotussan - you must know what I mean. I relate to what you said in your comment above. This is the first movie where he isn't playing a cop or something, and is real down to earth. I do think that the last scene was ridiculous (with the flower petals); however, it sure made you want a cup of tea by the end of the movie!!!!!

Yep.

I'll have to watch the 90 minute version and see what's been given the chop. Can you wait until I finish work today?

Drat it. I just watched the formatted side, and I also checked the cover. As far as I can tell, the widescreen version was just misprinted at 122 minutes, the film actually is 92 minutes.

Of course, now I'm going to have to watch the widescreen version and time it, too, just to be certain.

Like that's going to be a burden....

TDWoj, you'll find it different to his usual roles. It's not my favourite but he's always watchable. The much maligned end scene with the petals may not seem too bad when you put it in context of the plot. Happy viewing!

I'm looking forward to watching The Patriot. Watching Steven for the first time in a movie I've never seen is not going to be a hardship, I think! I've heard different views about the film from various people, so after I watch it, I'll post my impressions.

Two weeks to wait... the suspense is killing me!

:D

TD, he is soooo great in it...So sweet and kind...The kind of man you just want to wake up with next to you for the rest of your life...Someone who would bring you breakfast in bed, and leave a rose on the pillow...I bet he's a real sweetie...;) I think that movie shows some of the real deal, know what I mean? :D

Stop - stop, already! :) I'm getting all fluttery, hot and bothered... and it'll be two weeks before the film is on TV, I can't wait that long!

-T, going back to work, not really able to concentrate now, but needing to earn more money so she can buy the next batch of Steven's films...

...but thinking she's going to have to take a cold shower, first.
