Was Seagal Really That Tough?

We all know Steven Seagal is a Martial Art 7th Degree Master Blackbelt in Aikido, and we all heard the stories of Seagal beating the other Japanese challengers because he was a foreignor. We have all seen his movies where he is proclaimed as this tough guy, I can beat you up don't mess with me kind of persona. We all know he can fight and we all know he has this amazing attitude that everyone likes to say, that's my man.

But we also have heard all the stories of how Seagal was frightened in his pants when he was threatened by the Italian Mafia and we have all heard how one of the world's best grapplers "Judo" Gene LeBell choked him out on the set of Under Siege when Seagal was kind of walking around challenging different people. We all know Seagal is tough but how tough is he really?
Has his tough guy image been pulled down by the recent incidents that has happened?

What are your thoughts?

Just a crazy idea I came up with. ;)

Well I don't think any of us were there at those times to know what actually took place
Regarding dealing with the mob-have to have brain damage not to fear them just a bit :)

I read this story several times !! geeezzzzzzzzzz !! I don't believe these stupid rumors !! Just "jealousy" like Seagal says !!! :D

But I believe that Steven Seagal is Tough and Romantic, very special big big guy !!!

Those aren't rumours there, Suzi...

First: about the mafia - if a mob boss came up to you with his back up all holding guns at you and saying that if you don't pay up, your family will 'pay,' I don't think you'd be in a very happy mood either. Steven Seagal is a family man (you see he likes kids... he's got many of them) and if such serious threats are being made, they cannot be taken for a joke and ofcourse he would be 'scared' (more like 'worried to death') ... Mafia doesn't fool around, and the Italians have their reputation in that sort of business. I don't think anybody would just blow off the threats and keep on living happily ever after.

Second: Gene LeBell story - Seagal did not put up a fight, but rather allowed the guy to choke him (thinking that it would be impossible) - obviously, Seagal isn't familiar much with the circulatory processes of the human body ... once that blood flow stops, a person passes out... It's not like Seagal was in a 'match' with LeBell...

This whole point of the thread is quite lame, really! If you want to respect Seagal, I think you'd want to respect his privacy and keep this sort of talk away. It's very childish in my opinion.

Oh its not funny I was just trying to put it in a manner that wouldn't sound like I was yelling or mad but I guess that didn't work. :rolleyes:

he is highly aggressive and needs a dose of the Gracies to get him in line Gene that is..he fights ugly and it could have happened to any of us.

as for the mob thing did you also see where it said there were 5 or 6 men none of want to deal with that thats a smart move on Stevens part no weakness there just good common sense.

Look,people,get beaten by other people,thats life. You cant be the best all the time in what you do .. eventualy someone who is better will come along and beat you.. wheter you like it or not. Deal with it and move on.. which seems to be what he is doing!!

The toughguy rutine is a charecter thing.....nothing more.

That thing about him challenging people.. on the set of Under Siege sound's bogus to me. Dont belive everything you hear and read ;);)

Its pefectly natural for any man/women to shake in thier panths if they been shaked down by the Mafia!! So that is just Seagal reacting like any other humanbeing would have done... natural reaction. ;);)

The reason why people don't understand Seagal, at the moment is becouse his spiritual side is beginning to grow within him. That can be pretty hard to understand for someone who's not studing those thing's 100% with mind body and spirit.

I personaly don't think he had ever had a toughguy attitude in his personal life. Ofcouse we cannot be 100% sure but he has allways seemend calm and peacefull when he aproches people and having conversations. Seagal is a perfectly normal humanbeing like everybody else. He is a guy who has created a name for himself in Hollywood and when you join Hollywood you join the gossipclub, people love to pick on famous people in Hollywood. And SS is no exception.
