I think the issue is that anyone from here that goes over there hasn't been able to figure out the whys and hows of its operation and management. I've been over a couple of times myself and aside from the fact that there doesn't seem to be much in the way of interesting topics, it's a very awkward interface and takes some getting used to.
not sure what you mean about being an awkward interface you select discuss and then one of the sections and go - doesn't seem to be too much different than this interface from what i've seen, in fact i bet one can find this one difficult at first also until one gets the hang of working it
as far as the management what is it that is needed to know? its managed and its a on a need to know basis with anyone involved, fans are not necessarily on the need to know list - if that's offensive then i'm sorry you are offended
the site now has moderators keeping the spams down
yeah sure, the topics are not forever unlike here but that is about the only difference i can see without doing a complete breakdown which i dont have the time for but basically the topics that remain active stay on the boards
as for being interesting well i see what is here on the today's posts and to me really no difference there either other than you all have a happy birthday thing - its fan contributed so to me if fans dont contribute then its dead
as far as upgrading to a more protected better site, well, that is getting looked into
There's still a lot of bad feeling and fallout from the original official site (which was a lot prettier and easier to get around) and its lack of management. While those who'd been "there" at the time agree that those people are long gone, those running the current site have yet to prove themselves.
that was then this is now, don't judge one management team due to another's actions - don't just assume it will be a retake of what happened years ago
what does anyone have to prove really? the site is up and running and seems to be doing fine so far
In the last incarnation, at least the guy who designed and ran the site, Stipko, was pretty much front and centre and participated in the forums. And yet, some members who participated in this forum who went visiting over there were banned, for no apparent reason. Don't know if that's happened yet with the new crew, but it certainly left a bad taste when it happened.
Stipko was involved with the site only during the construction of the site and then gone, he was all hype initially then failed to keep it updated as soon as he was done with the complete set up - he couldn't even find the time to put in updated tour information that was fed to him - therefore no longer the web dude
as for anyone getting banned i am unaware anyone got banned unless they were disrespectful toward Mr.Seagal or other fans, or spammers which is the same policy over on this new site - disrespect is not tolerated and i am sure everyone agrees that is a right policy, warnings are given if anyone falls out of line that is a real poster and aparent fan
as for advertisers well they just get offed so keep from advertising porn, vitamins, jobs, rubs or whatever and all should be fine
I still haven't figured out yet who the admins are over there, and I'm certainly not going to ask or identify myself to them.
again, that would be on a need to know basis, there is a management email for any concerns etc other than that they are not required to show their face and interact with you
the site is a site, it's for fans to interact with eachother no different than this one, updates will be posted as they see fit or necessary but yes total time devotion to it is not in the cards and that needs to be accepted
