When Did You Become A Steven Seagal Fan?

fan for 15 years

Since Above the Law; I saw it in the early 90's when Soviets started allowing to legally show internationally made films. Seagal was a huge hit, and quickly raised to the Schwarzenegger's level of popularity. That makes me a Seagal fan for approximately 15 years.

I can't recall which movie it was that I had seen years ago, that I became aware of Steven Seagal. But it wasn't until about 4 years ago when I joined the internet that I became interested in his movies & life

I also should add that though I don't have all his videos ( due to the lack of Seagal popularity here) and neither do I have a room full of articles about him and posters (maybe just a few) but I'm not the least greatest fan and moreover I'm the greatest fan of Steven Seagal and I'm a fan #1 in Estonia which I'm so proud of!

Hi Heather yes I love it too myself, it was brilliant on the big screen, I watched Exit Wounds at the cinema just a few days before it finished showing so I just made it! My own personal fave is the shot where he has the chain wrapped around his hand and swings it at the camera - you just wouldn't wanna mess with him!

Ahhhhh, one of my favorite parts, I love that scene! He sure is something...

It was in 2000 after my brain surgery. I was terrified that I was
such a different person, that I would not even venture outside
the house. My dear, precious husband brought home the video
Hard to Kill and this may sound hokey, but he had such a calming
effect on me, I went with my husband the very next day and rented
every movie of his that we could find. I couldn't seem to get enough
of Steven Seagal! I have seen every film he has ever made. I found
this web site & made some very special friends. I believe with all
my heart that he helped me with my recovery. He showed me
even through his films, courage when faced with adversity, grace
and acceptance. I will always be grateful to him!

hugs, kat :)

Heather they had 3 movies on TNT yesterday. I watched OFJ, The Patriot, and FDB.
FDB is the first movie that I saw him in and that was when I became a big fan of his. That is when I looked for other movies that Steven did and ran right out to rent them. I think at that time I rented all the ones he did before FDB. I sat there and watched one after another.

Awww and you didnt invite me, dam girl you are lucky..Heather.

Heather he is on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week. Come on over. Anyone that wants to come over is invited. Last Saturday my son asked me why I watch Steven's movies on the channels that cut pices of the movies out when I have all of Steven's movies on DVD's. I could not answer that. His favorite is EW. That's when he became a fan of Steven Seagal.

I became a huge Steven Seagal fan when I was a little kid (maybe 6 or 7 years old) when I first saw Hard To Kill at my Grandma's house with my cousins. My Grandma is a big fan of Steven's too (she's 62 so he has fans young and old alike) and so is my Mom. I've been hooked on his films ever since. He's not only a great action hero but a terrific and engaging actor too.

I became an SS fan right when ABL (aka "Nico") came out. This was 1998, and it was being advertised in the UK as "this years' Robocop", which basically sold me on it right away.

SS truly was an overnight star. For someone who had never acted before to show such confidence and charisma, and to carry off a complex action story like that... well, let's just say I was impressed. And his fighting style was like nothing ever seen on film- raw and real, with maximum impact (and that's coming from someone who's been a fan of martial arts movies for nearly 3 decades)

I became a fan the moment after I saw the trailer for Nico at the movie theater...
My friend and I took one look at him, and then we looked at eachother and were 'like wow, who is that???'
He was totally stunning and magentic...I didn't know his real name until I saw the film though, but I do remember that after seeing the dojo scenes in the film, I knew he was totally amazing and unique...
I thought he looked brilliant in the hakama, and still does...;)
And I had never, ever seen such a powerul and graceful man, and never seen anyone flip anyone like that, and also had never heard of Aikido...I think I was also very tickled at the way he did the demo, maybe I felt much like he did when he saw his first demo, only a lot more romantically attracted...
I also became very curious at the way spoke Japanese so well, I thought he was at least partially asian, and oh, I remember noting those yummy sideburns that he wore, they were so charmingly handsome, and kissable, plus those devestatingly dark, and brooding eyes, just as they are in that pic up there in the header, I have to admit it was all a very powerful and totally intoxicating combination, and I am guessing now, that I was very deeply enamored at that time, maybe more than I realize, however I did feel that he was way too thin, and I have always much preferred the ponytail and the extra pounds..But that spirit, charisma and charm was always there, he's just got even more now, and he's even more dignified and wise...I am thinking this movie came to egypt in 1989, but it could have been late 1988, we got things much later than in the states...:)

Oh, erm, let me make one exception to the ponytail comment...And that is Orin in Exit Wounds, totally loved, loved, loved his character and his no pontailed look in that one...But I was still quite glad to see it back in BOTB...;)

I dont know, a big screen plus Seagal may be too much large for the average man (or woman) to handle. It could make your brain explode. But in a good way, I think. Still, bitch of a mess to clean up.

He's larger than life charisma wise, and he's just fine weight wise too, he didn't look big In BOTB to me...More of him to love, and I do...:)
