With Under siege 3 on the way, Seagal needs to......

dscpotts, how dare you call him fat slug! :mad2:
Your ego is obviously bigger than your brain...
Why are you letting his career feed your ego?
(Or not feed it as the case may be now, since you are so hoplessly worried about his looks)
Honestly, you sound like a pitiful wanna be to me...
Frankly, it's just sickening...
I guess you need to find another pastime, because face it, he is the way he is...
He is a big (and might I say very yummy) man...
And if you don't like him, don't watch him, that would solve the problem, eh?
Go chop off your own foot...
Maybe then you would feel a little something about the human condition and become a little more understanding, and you would quit running around calling someone you supposedly admire a fat slug...
Sorry if I sound like a whiney little girl, but I think what you said was disgusting...
And Steven, if you read this, I love you, baby!
You are great!

He's one of the stereotypical stupid arrogent limies who thinks his view is true and blue.
personally i think he needs swift kick in the ass, by Seagal...
He obviously knows nothing of Aikido either.

It sounds to me as if dscpotts feels only one person's opinion counts, and that is his own. Heaven forfend anyone should disagree with him... doing so means we're blind and stupid.

While I appreciate that you (dscpotts) are sincere in your desire for Steven to go back to doing what he was 13 years ago, it ain't going to happen. Steven looks old because he *is* old, dearie, and nothing is going to change that. And if he's doing less action and more acting in his films, I'm sure he's not doing so because his objective is to personally annoy you (although that is a possibility).

I've given my opinion elsewhere and at great length about the why's and why not's of Steven's martial arts work, so I won't take up space by writing it down here yet again. I, along with many others, am simply grateful that Steven is making any movies at all; and while I might want more of him making the moves, I'm perfectly happy seeing him in roles that don't require him to do so.

And a word to the wise, Pottsy: there's something to remember when engaging in discussion with others, and one disagrees with another's opinion. And that is, it's okay to disagree - goodness knows, I'm sure many here disagree with me, and I with them, but that doesn't stop any of us from sharing our thoughts and having some lively discussions thereby - but never - NEVER - launch a personal attack on the individual with whom you disagree. Being unhappy about Steven's fitness is one thing. Being nasty to the individual who defended her hero (and mine too, incidentally) and her right to disagree with you is something else. It isn't done. Not here. Not with our eagle-eyed moderators. Not if you want to stay and play with the rest of us.

-TD, in defence of well-tempered discussions

TD, I really think you should be in the media!
You seem to have logic that the papers and tabliods despertly need.
And Potts is probably 12 or 32.
either way he's still like Van Dumb Ass! :mad5:

Come on guys, don't lay into DcSpotts just because he asserted that Steven Seagal could do with losing weight before making "Under Siege 3". Ok, I admitt in some of his subsequent posts he was a bit tactless but I have to admitt, I can sympathise with him in regard to his views on Seagal's latest films -: you go in expecting to see some decent aikido/ass kicking, but instead you watch an overweight guy slap and weeze his way through badly edited, sped up fights which just pale in comparison to most of the stuff he made throughout the 1990's. I was impressed with "Exit Wounds"(2001), when he made an effort and got himself down to fighting size, but who here could list a single decent fight in "Ticker"(2001), "Half Past Dead"(2002) or "The Foreigner"(2003), for I know I could'nt.

Also, to whoever said that some people expect Seagal to always be like what he was at 39, this is'nt the case. I am taking into account he is a middle aged man and is therefore not as fit as he was when he was in his late thirties/early forties...BUT...why can Sylvester Stallone, Chuck Norris & Arnold Schwarzenegger still keep in shape and do a lot of their own fights when they are OLDER than Seagal (Norris is over 60!) Hell look also at Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, Charlton Heston at that age, they could all keep in reasonably good shape. I have nothing against people putting weight on, but I do when I see an action star who I admire for his martial arts skills put on so much weight that he can't do his own fight scenes properly, your bloody right I will criticise it. I am being honest and am not being malicious.

What does wind me up are some of the females on this board who get their panties in a bunch when you make this honest observation about his weight. Your simply expected to hush this up and basically kiss up and say how great he is in most of your posts. Maybe this is because the ladies like him in a different way and for different reasons than the guys on the board but if i ever don't agree with something about him or his movies you better get used to the fact that i will bring it up.

I am sorry but that is my opinion and its doubtful you'll sway me from it in the the same way I can't sway the ladies from their love of him.

Peace.

MMCK2, dscpotts called him a slug!
The man is making movies faster than we can blink, does that make him lazy?
Not hardly...
And dscpotts, for your information, I am not blind, the man is gorgeous, and he also has tons of charm, and charisma...
He didn't get where he got by being an average joe...
Little things like a few lines on his face (and oh what a handsome face it is) or a few extra pounds don't make him any less attractive than he ever was, because frankly, he's just got it going on...
I think you would have to be a woman to understand me, so lets just leave it at that...
I don't mind your stone cold male opinions, you have rights just as I do, but neither do I like the name calling!
Calling the man a slug was simply wrong!
If you sit there and can do that, then I feel I can certainly defend him...
Not that he needs a bit of help kicking ass, or anything...
Even though you say he's slow, I bet he could do you some real damage...

Not that I don't think he isn't open minded, or anything...

MMCK, you and I disagree on a lot of points, but you have yet to call me names, or tell me my opinion is worthless just because I'm a female (although you come awfully close in your post quoted above. Almost, I say, but not quite.). Also, you haven't (to my certain recollection) stooped so low as to describe Steven as a "fat slug".

I'd rather have a discussion, an exchange of opinions and respect for those opinions even if one or the other of us disagrees, than descend to name-calling. *This* is what people are objecting to, not the discussion of how happy fans would be if he got back into shape and kicked ass like the good old days.

As for the weight issue - it's a dead horse. Stop beating it. Let it rest in peace. Time to move on.

Thanks TD...
You explained it better...
I guess I am just to passionate to get my point across...

I look forward to see "Under Siege 3". I know it will bee a good film again. Why always looking for new koncepts - why are always things that are old not "en vouge". With all respect for all technical developments: judo, aikido and karate you have to learn with hard training - and you can not create these skills by computer. See for example all country- and western music. A lot of other music (rap e g) had been written after. But a lot of peope still are listening to country & western. Even if it is not "en vouge" - a lot of people are buying.

Kind regards
Tine

Why shouldn't Steven Seagal make "Under Siege 3".
Even if he not is 39 today - he can still give a lot to his public. Look for example: Sean Connery (Never say never again) and Rolling Stones. The musicstyle that Rolling Stones made in the sixties are still selling today. Even among younger fans.

Kind regards
Tine

PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE!!!! We all need to calm down. Everyone has a right to his/her own opinion, whether you think Steven is hot or Steven is not. No need to attack each other and sling insults because someone voiced their opinion.

One things for certain: For a fat slug he can still kick all of our asses.
Amen to that. Even i am tiring of hearing about the weight issue. I would dearly like to see him much lighter for similair reasons to MMCK but if he stays the same, he does. I reckon 99% will still watch his stuff.

Ok, I insulted Steven, but I feel he has insulted me with his recent film making, but was is strange is most of you have reacted like I have insulted your Mothers.

If what I said insulted any of you, I appologise. I was just voicing my opinion on Steven, not any of you, and it got out of hand.

steven used to star in Martial arts action films, but martial arts with a difference, he used aikido, while to my knowledge, no one else in film does. this is what sepparated him from the others, and he could still shine above the rest in the new age of action films, but he seems to have dropped what he is famous for THE AIKIDO, and that is what angers me.

I will keep my mouth shut in future and just read what you lot say as my opinion just upsets so many of you.

Thank you Sleeping Fox; I guess they never picked up that I never said that he was a fat slug..Those were never my words. I was just saying if that is what some people's opinion of him is, then for being that he sure could kick a lot of ass..

I never said that he was Lotussan. I was using what someone else said to make a point...
Whatever anyone thinks he is; he sure is still very capable in the martial arts..
